The house is the player’s personal dwelling in their town. At the beginning of each game, the player arrives to town and purchases their new home from Tom Nook through a mortgage plan. When the loan is paid off, Tom Nook offers to expand the house by increasing the room size or by adding new rooms. Each extension results in a new loan to pay for the construction.
The house can be furnished with a variety of items, and the carpet and wallpaper can be changed. Clothing and custom designs can be placed in the house as well. The Happy Home Academy will periodically inspect the player’s house and grade them based on the contents of each room. A complete collection of a specific set, series, or theme results in a higher score. High scores are rewarded with exclusive items as prizes.
If a player does not play the game for some time, the house will become infested with cockroaches. The player can squash them to remove the infestation, though they try to evade the player. Cockroaches can be exposed by either moving or removing furniture from the house.
Directly outside the front door is the mailbox, where the player can receive mail. Mr. Resetti will also appear outside the front door when the game is resumed after turning the system off without saving.

In Animal Crossing: The Movie
The Roost is also shown in the movie in which some scenes take place.
In Animal Crossing: The Movie, Ai comes to The Roost in order to find Apollo. Once she arrives, she meets Cesar and Cyrano. Once Apollo arrives, she delivers the package that he had ordered from Tom Nook, then apologizes for the destruction of his flowers, which she had accidentally crushed during the delivery. Apollo compliments Brewster on his coffee, takes his package, and leaves.
Ai is also seen at the Roost after moves away. She sadly asks Brewster for a cup of coffee. She then hears K.K. Bossa, Margies favorite song. She starts crying for her friend. Whitney, who is sitting across from her, consoles her, saying that if she believes in herself, her and Margies bond will never fade. When Ai leaves, Whitney compares two womens bond to a bond between a man and a woman, and no matter how she tries, she will never return it to the way it was.

Like all smug villagers, he is very polite, kind and acts like a real gentleman. He gets along easily with most other villagers. Smug villagers have the most “well-rounded” personality type, which seems like a mixture of all other types. Marshal tends to conflict with cranky villagers.
In New Horizons, Marshal lives in a cafe-themed house, with a bunch of Cafe series items including a coffee grinder, coffee cup, coffee machine, cream and sugar, and a Moka pot. His house is in a classic/vintage style and has a piano in the top-left corner.

What New Horizons Could Do With Brewsters Roost
In other Animal Crossing titles, the café was located under the museum, and it seems probable that this would be the case were it to be added into New Horizons as well. Given how long the game has been out, and how meticulous some players tend to get when it comes to island customization and excessive terraforming, expecting them to find room for an entirely new building seems unlikely – unless, of course, The Roost were to come after that rumored Animal Crossing island expansion update. Given that K.K. Slider has a new area to perform concerts in, New Horizons also probably wont add a space for him in The Roost, meaning that the café could be small enough to easily fit into the existing museum structure.
Adding back in the opportunity to play as a barista could provide a unique way to introduce returning characters from the series who have yet to appear in New Horizons. NPCs like Joan and Pelly, who no longer have a role as of the latest title in the franchise, could be brought back as customers in The Roost. New Horizons could also let the café function as more of a minigame, adding additional gameplay variety to keep New Horizons feeling fresh. Alternatively, it could simply be used to let players flesh out their relationships with the villagers on their island. Regardless of how they choose to approach it, it seems like letting Brewster and The Roost return to Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be a good step forward for the game.

What Is The Roost
In previous games, this is also where K.K. Slider performed. Since hes moved to the town square, were willing to bet thats now off the table. The focus of The Roost has instead shifted to being a hangout location. Throughout the day, your villagers may stop by to hang out. You can even invite friends through the amiibo phone, which means those cards you have are finally good for more than just inviting them to your island. Want to chill with Marshal for a bit? Just give him a ring!
While were currently limited on information, its worth noting that, in previous games, special visitors would occasionally drop by. Think along the lines of Kappn, Mr. Resetti, Pelly, and Phyllis people who might not otherwise be at your island that day. Then again, you could also work part-time, completing coffee orders for various villagers. This wasnt specifically mentioned in the Nintendo Direct, but its possible that some of these features return.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf Gave Brewster’s Roost An Expanded Role
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the series expanded the life sim with the addition of new buildings and a Main Street hub area. The player was now mayor and could start public works projects and ordinances. These features seem to be returning in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0s ordinances and Harv’s island market. In New Leaf, The Roost cafe was a separate building that the player could place wherever they felt. K.K. Slider no longer played concerts there as he had his own building all to himself.
While The Roost maintained the standard function of the player and villagers being able to purchase coffee, its role expanded in that the player could work a part-time job. Doing so required the player to serve up brews to various villagers tastes. The player’s performance is then gauged by Brewster, who pays the player in coffee beans which could be sold for Bells or gifted to other villagers. The player could also earn Café themed furniture through the Roost.

How To Unlock To
Welcome to IGN’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons wiki guide. This page will cover everything you need to know about unlocking to-go coffee at Brewster’s cafe, called The Roost. The Roost is located inside the museum and is available to unlock now, having released with the free 2.0 update.
How To Unlock The Roost
After logging in, your first stop should be to speak to Blathers at the Museum. Hell talk about wanting to open The Roost, but says Brewster is missing. Youll need to find him first.
If Blathers does not talk to you about Brewster, its because you havent contributed to one section of the museum. You need to have donated at least one of each type before hell bring it up. That means you need at least one piece of real art and one sea creature from diving. That last one is usually what people forget. After that, leave the museum and go back in Blathers will be ready to talk!
Go to your docks and talk to Kappn. He can only bring you to one island a day, so hopefully, you havent used your days trip yet. If you have, youll sadly need to wait until the next day. If you havent, talk him into bringing you to an all-new island. The random place hell bring you to has all kinds of new stuff, including Brewster. Dont ask us how he ended up here. Talk to him and then head back to the museum to let Blathers know.
Unfortunately, youll need to wait a while now. After doing all this, the museum will be shut down for renovations the next day before reopening the day after that. All in all, this takes about two days to complete.
Thats also assuming that youve already played a significant amount of New Horizons. The Roost obviously cant be opened if the museum isnt fully up and running yet, now can it? If you havent done that just yet, here are the five steps:

Animal Crossing’s Museum May Still Add Brewster’s Cafe Say Dataminers
Animal Crossing : New leaf How to get Roost Cafe
Dataminers suggest Brewster and his café, The Roost, are already in Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ files and could arrive in an update soon.
Newly datamined Animal Crossing: New Horizons game files suggest Brewster and his museum café may finally return soon. Brewster’s café in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been rumored for some time, but nothing has come to fruition since release. However, a recent announcement made by Nintendo could give the theory more credibility.
The Roost first appeared in Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo DS. Adjacent to the museum, it allowed players to enjoy coffee prepared by the shy pigeon barista, Brewster. It was also where K.K. Slider would perform his acoustic Saturday shows. In Animal Crossing: City Folk , players could also opt to store their Gyroids with Brewster, and they were given the ability to work part-time at The Roost in New Leaf. Having been absent from the latest mainline entry since its launch over a year ago, Brewster’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons absence has not been lost on players.
