Tapping an Inkling amiibo will unlock Inkwell the Octopus.
Scanning a Zelda amiibo will unlock some very cool new villagers, including Wolf Link, Medli, Ganon and Epona. Actual Zelda Characters will appear in your village. How cool is that?!
Well, thats it on the amiibo front! Stay tuned for our full breakdown of todays news soon!
In Happy Home Designer
Lottie is the receptionist at Nook’s Homes in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. She also helps train the player and talks them through the process of preparing a villager’s house, before arriving at the site, like letting the player choose a site and a layout. Lottie also can help the player log onto Happy Home Network and change the settings for the network. Lottie is seen every day at her desk, typing. Talking to her normally results in suggestions to drum up business however, rarely, she can be seen without mascara, and she talks about that instead.
Inviting Visitors To Your Island Campsite Via Amiibo
How do you invite amiibo characters to your island? Ah, the Golden Trout of amiibo questions. And just like catching a Golden Trout, this one takes some patience.
In order to invite your favourite characters directly to your island in full interactive glory, you must first build a campsite. Once you’ve got a functioning campsite, you must wait for one random camper to visit . We recommend going through the motions to have them move onto your island – not only does this help move the game forward, but we’re fairly certain it’s required in order to access amiibo functionality for your campsite.
After going through this process, Tom Nook should mention to you that amiibo functionality has been added to the Nook Stop kiosk. The next time your campsite is empty, head to Nook Stop and scan in one of your favorite villagers – immediately after which, they should appear at your campsite. It should be noted that only one villager can visit your campsite per day.
Which amiibo can be invited to the campsite? Again, not all amiibo can be invited to camp on your island. Most of the general and “Welcome Amiibo” cards can be invited. Below are the amiibo which cannot be invited:
- Non-Animal Crossing-specific amiibo
- Villager from Smash
- Sanrio “Welcome Amiibo” cards
- Special character figures and cards

The Animal Crossing Direct is over and a lot of new information regarding amiibo has been shared. First and foremost, the update is available now. Thats right its ready to be downloaded right now in the 3DS eShop.
Now, lets get into the amiibo details.
Amiibo Functionality In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
So far, there are four different functionalities for amiibo cards and figures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
- Set up with models by scanning amiibo on Harveys Island
- Purchase posters of scanned Animal Crossing amiibo in Nook Shopping at the Nook Stop kiosk
- Invite amiibo characters to visit your campsite on your island
- Invite visiting campers from these amiibo to move to your island
Connect The Amiibo Card
Have your amiibo card ready in your hand and choose the Invite Camper option at the kiosk in Resident Services. Read through the prompts and select Continue when you are ready.
When prompted, hold the amiibo card slightly above your right joy-con controller. This takes only a matter of seconds to register with the Nintendo Switch.
The kiosk will then verify the amiibo card villagers name and ask you once again if youd like to invite the villager to your islands campsite. Select Yes! to continue. Your screen will flash white, and the amiibo card character will appear on your screen. This is where you can choose to invite them to your campsite.
Once theyve accepted their invitation, the amiibo character will immediately appear at your islands campsite, unless theres already a visitor present. If a random visitor is already present at the campsite, then the amiibo character will appear at your campsite the next day.
Animal Crossing New Horizons Amiibo: How To Unlock And Use Amiibo And What They Do
If you’ve been sitting on Animal Crossing amiibo from the Wii U and 3DS, there’s good news – they’re compatible in New Horizons! You’ll need to actually unlock amiibo first, however.
Amiibo tapped in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will enable you to make use of them for two specific uses: recruiting characters to your island to come visit as guests or come join you more permanently, and also for the game’s cute new Photopia mode. Allow us to explain in a little more detail…

Setting Up Photo Shoots With Amiibo Models On Harvey’s Island
Which amiibo can you invite to photo shoots on Harv’s Island? Most of the general and “Welcome Amiibo” Animal Crossing-specific cards and figures can be invited to your photo shoots – with the following exceptions :
- Non-Animal Crossing-specific amiibo
- Villager from Smash
- Sanrio “Welcome Amiibo” cards
- Some special character figures and cards
How many amiibo can you invite at once to a photo shoot? Feel free to scan up to 10 of your amiibo into the picture party!
What can you do with the amiibo once they’ve arrived at the shoot? Although we have yet to set up many photo shoots, it’s clear there is a lot of creative freedom here. From dressing up the characters, to positioning them on sets, to giving them emotions, we’re sure we’ll see some fantastic photos from players in the future. Unfortunately, these models are essentially ghosts of their characters, and cannot be interacted with directly by your player.
From Harv’s Island, you can also unlock posters of each of the scannable amiibo – even some of those characters who can’t come to the shoots – and purchase them for display in your home. And let us tell you – the designs are awesome, we want them all.
Talk To Your Kids About
Families can talk about consumerism. How much pressure is placed on players to purchase additional “add-ons” to unlock content in a game? Is it necessary to enjoy the base game?
Talk about interacting with the real world versus the virtual world. Do games featuring outdoor activities encourage players to go outside and play in the same way?

Use The Nookstop Kiosk At Resident Services
Once the new villager has moved in, head back to Resident Services and talk with Tom Nook. He’ll tell you that he wants to bring even more villagers to the island. Now, run over to the Nook Stop kiosk and interact with it. He’ll tell you that you can now use Animal Crossing amiibo cards to invite more villagers to the island. Just note that you can only have one camper per day.
How To Invite Villagers To The Campsite Using Amiibo
Now that youve unlocked the ability to use amiibo cards, its time to learn how to scan them in and convince campers to move into your island. Youre going to have to scan a villagers card multiple days in a row if you want them to become a resident of your island. Here are the steps needed to acquire a new villager using amiibo cards.
Select invite a Camper.
Scan the amiibo card you want to use. If youre playing your Switch in handheld mode, hover the card over the joystick on the right Joy-Con when New Horizons prompts you to use your amiibo. If youre using the Pro Controller, scan the cards over the Nintendo logo in the top middle of the controller when the game prompts you to use your amiibo.
After scanning your card, a cutscene will play, showing the invited camper. When you leave Resident Services, the villager you invited will be at your campsite. Run to your campsite and enter the tent.
Agree to their request. They might even give you a new recipe in the processes.
The camper is closer to being persuaded, but they wont be ready to move in just yet. The following day repeat steps 1 9.

What Amiibo Unlock In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Explained
Currently, we’re aware of two features that involve amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
- Invite villagers to your island
Inviting villagers to your island
One of the main functions of the amiibo cards in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is to invite villagers to visit your island.
To do this you need to construct the campground on this island. Once you have this location, you’ll be able to use the Animal Crossing amiibo cards to invite that specific villager to your island.
This villager will then appear in the tent on the campground where you’ll be able to interact with them.
The Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct also highly suggests that you’ll be able to encourage these visiting villagers to stay on your island and, possibly, become permanent residents.
Once unlocked, you can dress these models in a variety of clothing, assign them emotions to express, decorate the scene with props and pick out the camera direction before taking your photo.
Since you won’t be able to use every single amiibo card, such as DJ KK, in New Horizons straight away, we can’t say for sure if there are more special features that will be unlocked by using any form of Animal Crossing amiibo.
It’s possible that you could unlock special items, like in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or special guests, like DJ KK, by using specific amiibos. We’ll just have to wait and see what lies in store for New Horizons and its continued amiibo support.
Rv Park And Amiibo Cards
A new RV park has been added to the town. Using the new line of amiibo cards, you can invite a villager to come and visit. Using some persuasion, that villager can come and live full-time in your village. This new feature isnt limited to new amiibo though, for you can also scan in the first four generations of amiibo cards and invite villagers to your town that way, sans the RV.
The Animal Crossing: Welcome amiibo cards will be available in the U.S. on December 2nd.
How To Use Amiibo Cards Acnl Or Animal Crossing New Leaf
- Other Apps
Amiibo is best known as a range of figurines featuring favorite Nintendo characters but there are also cards that can be used for gameplay in certain Nintendo Switch games. So, here let’s know how to use amiibo cards ACNL?
The amiibo cards were originally created for the 2015 spin-off game Happy Home Designer, to invite villagers to decorate a home for you.
However, thanks to New Leaf’s popularity, theyve taken on a new life and if you have existing cards, you can use them in the game to invite villagers onto your island.
How To Use Amiibo Cards ACNL?
You can do this by heading to Resident Services once the Town Hall has been unlocked, and unlock them via an ATM machine with a green leaf on its side.
However, if you fancy making a bit of money out of ones you may have or you want to add to your existing collection theyre also selling online for a fairly decent amount of money, with plenty of cards available in both landscape and portrait format, for some pretty impressive prices.
Introduced for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Amiibo cards are a cheaper alternative to the figurines, allowing both Nintendo produce and players to collect many more of them. How many you ask? Nintendo has produced 400 Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards so far in four series. Each featuring different characters as well as outfits for favorites like Isabelle.

How To Invite Villagers To Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island With Amiibo Cards
Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrive on your island randomly or when you befriend them on Mystery Islands. But there is another way to get villagers to move in if you have Animal Crossing amiibo cards. Heres how they work.
First off, Animal Crossing amiibo cards are rare. The first series released in 2015 alongside Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for Nintendo 3DS and contained 100 cards. Each card depicts a villager or guest like Tom Nook and Isabelle. There are now five different Amiibo series making up around 500 unique cards, as well as additional special character cards that feature tie-ins with Sanrio and Legend of Zelda characters.
These amiibo cards unlocked certain villagers and special items in Happy Home Designer and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and theyre also compatible with New Horizons.
Here’s What Amiibo Unlock In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
As of now there are two rewards for scanning your amiibo collection in New Horizons. The most exciting reason to take advantage of the feature is that it allows you to bring new villagers to your island. You’ll first have to build a campground, then go through the process of scanning the amiibo at Resident Services. This will send the associated character to your newly built campground.
Of course, that doesnt mean they will stay on your island, but you can at least bring up the proposition. If they like what you’ve done with the place, they might be inclined to make it their home.
Amiibo can also be used with Photopia a unique feature that lets you take staged photos with different villagers. By scanning in your collection, these characters will be available for use with Photopia. You can give them different props to hold, tell them how to act, and even give them costumes to wear.
It’s possible that amiibo outside of the Animal Crossing world will work with this feature, but nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo. If you’ve built up an extensive amiibo collection over the years be sure to test them all out you never know what you’ll find.

What Parents Need To Know
Parents need to know that Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome amiibo is a town simulation/role-playing game that’s an updated, expanded version of the original Animal Crossing: New Leaf game for the Nintendo 3DS. The new version is available as a standalone retail product, digital download, or as a free downloadable update for those who own the original release. There’s no inappropriate content. While players have the option to hit characters on the head with items such as a net or a shovel, this causes no damage and isn’t necessary to play. There are no language concerns, although inviting other players into a gamer’s town could expose them to inappropriate content. This updated version adds support for Nintendo’s line of amiibo figures and cards, which players buy separately and use to unlock additional content in the game. It can also be linked to the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game to unlock more exclusive content.
