The Cause: My Switch Was Not My Primary Console
- My copy of New Horizons was a digital purchase .
- My user profile on that console is a linked account, with full e-Shop privileges. My kids’ profiles on that console are not linked they’re just local accounts.
- Although this was “my” Switch, it was not the first Switch I had created a linked profile on. When we first bought the other Switch for the kids, I created a profile on that device and linked it to my Nintendo account so I could purchase games for them to play on it. This is important: Since I had already created a linked profile on my kids’ Switch, as far as Nintendo was concerned, their Switch was my “Primary Console.”
Download The Island Transfer Tool On The Source System
Image: Nintendo Life
In order to transfer Animal Crossing data between Switch consoles, you’ll first have to download a special Island Transfer Tool from the Switch eShop. Just enter ‘Island transfer’ into the search bar and it should pop right up.
Also, make sure you’ve got the most up-to-date version of the game.
Can You Use Party Play With Friends
Party Play can only be used with the other player residents of your island. It allows you to explore your island with three other players all on the same Nintendo Switch. It does, of course, require multiple controllers to work.
Eight players in total can live on one island at the same time, which means that Party Play allows half of the player population to play together.
You can use party play with friends as long as you each have one part of a JoyCon. Only 4 people can play Party Play at one time on one Switch.
To use Local Play, you and your visitor must be in the same place using the same connection. This makes Local Play the ideal for inviting or visiting your friends.
Party Play has been specifically designed for islands with multiple player residents, allowing up to four players to visit the island at the same time on the same console.

How To Unlock Multiplayer In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Traditional multiplayer is unlocked by hitting “Day 2” of gameplay, which happens as the day changes for you in real life after first starting the game. This will unlock Dodo Airlines, the game’s multiplayer hub. There you’ll be able to enjoy both online and local multiplayer. Unlike Party Play, both modes may be enjoyed with up to eight players. Similar to party play, there are some limitations to what players that join can do â they’ll be unable to use the host’s Resident Services and most won’t have access to their Axe or Shovel tools unless the player is denoted as a Best Friend.
You Don’t Have A Switch
As fun as New Horizons looks, one game isn’t enough to shell out big bucks for a Nintendo Switch, assuming you can find one right now. Even if you have the money, getting a Switch is difficult due to increased demand. If you have no plans to buy a Switch, Pocket Camp is a great way to scratch the FOMO itch without breaking the bank.
I’m happy that everyone feels at-home enough to nap though.
No system is required or Pocket Camp — you can download it for free on your mobile device. I play mine on my iPad. As a casual gamer, this is a big draw for me. If you’re watching your budget, this could be a plus as well.
Playing the game on mobile takes out the extra complication of learning controls. Everything in Pocket Camp is just a tap away, so if you’re more of a mobile game player, there’s not much of a learning curve.

How To Earn Bells In Animal Crossing
When you arrive on the island youve got almost nothing but the shirt on your back, so the first thing you have to do is start earning in-game money, called bells. The simplest way to do this is to collect fruit from tress and shells from the beach. These wont get you much but its a start. Catching fish is also a good source of income, once youre able to craft a fishing rod, and make sure to always hit every rock you see with a shovel. Most of the time youll just get rocks and minerals but one boulder per day will spit out money instead.

Can I Play Animal Crossing: New Horizon With Friends Locally
In couch co-op mode, up to four people will be able to play simultaneously on a single Nintendo Switch and with only one copy of the game. For the four-player local multiplayer, one player will be the leader and the other players will take the role of followers – this is pretty different from how things work with the multiplayer experience when each player has their own Switch and own copy of the game. Also keep in mind that each player is going to need their own controller to participate in the game.
How To Message Friends
Here are the ACNH messaging features. Orville will give you both the Best Friends App and the Chat Log app when you ask to play Online.
Whether you have island visitors or are visiting an island yourself, you can use the Chat Log app to send messages to everyone as long as youre on the island together. Its basically a giant group text but your message also appears as a speech bubble above your head.
When youre by yourself you can still send messages but ONLY to your Best Friends using the Best Friends App. You can ONLY send these messages when the recipient is online. Be sure to enable the communication feature by opening the Best Friends List app and hitting the .
Do You Keep Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise After Cancelling Nintendo Switch Online
Thankfully, we have answers to these questions courtesy of an interview with Nintendo press relations from Eurogamer!
First, to state whats likely obvious, you will in fact lose access to visiting what Nintendo calls the archipelago if your subscription ends also known as the Resort area where Paradise Planning with villagers takes place in the Happy Home Paradise expansion.
To visit the archipelago area after losing access to the DLC, youll need to either purchase the expansion standalone for $24.99 USD or renew your membership to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
However, it will not be possible to visit the archipelago if players lose access to the DLC. To be able to visit the archipelago and take on requests of designing vacation homes again, you will need to purchase the DLC separately or renew the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.

Does Animal Crossing New Horizons Have Local Co
We take a look at how local co-op works in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Guideby Jake Green, Guides Editor
Animal Crossing New Horizons takes players to an deserted island setting, allowing them to set up a camp and start building. It looks to be a continuation of ideas first set up in Animal Crossing Wild World, though there have been some notable changes to multiplayer this time around. While weve not seen everything the game has to offer yet we do know a fair bit about the multiplayer functionality. Lets take a look at whether the game supports couch co-op.
Animal Crossing On The Nintendo Switch Lite
While there are a handful of Switch games that dont work with the Switch Lite, Animal Crossing is not on that list. As Animal Crossing is designed to be played in handheld mode, with no special requirements for the dock or joy-cons, it works the same way on a Switch Lite as it does on the original Switch. If you already own an Animal Crossing game card, you can use it with your Switch Lite.

How To Start Local Co
To start local co-op in Animal Crossing New Horizons youll need a Nook Phone. This is given to you shortly after arriving on the island, and allows you to call other Islanders. Whip out your phone and select the Call Islander option. This will then allow you to select who youd like to play with.
How Do I Get The Retro N64 Genesis Snes And Nes Controllers For Switch
For those who want to feel legit old-school when playing the console’s retro library, you need the controller to match. Subscribers can preorder wireless, Switch-compatible Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis controllers from Nintendo for $50 apiece. These expensive controllers are currently sold out, and Nintendo noted that the N64 one won’t be back in stock until 2022.
The N64 controller has built-in rumble, so you won’t need an unwieldy Rumble Pak add-on like gamers in the ’90s did. If you’re determined to get one, you should probably be ready and waiting for stock to come in — they’ll almost certainly sell out again.
Should You Get A Nintendo Switch Lite If You Cant Find Switch Availability It Depends
Nintendo Switch Lite
While the Nintendo Switch has become one of the hottest items of quarantine, Nintendo has had a hard time keeping it on either digital or physical shelves. A combination of limited supply, reselling bots and skyrocketing demand means that its incredibly different find a standard model Switch, but that hasnt been true of the Switch Lite. The smaller, budget console has been more or less available throughout the crisis, with some limitations. A lot of people have asked me about getting a Lite instead, so I thought Id write about it.
The basics: the Switch lite is a portable-only console, meaning that its a Switch that doesnt Switch. Its a single unit without detachable controllers, and its a good bit cheaper than the standard Switch. It might be a great choice for you, or it might not. So lets get into it.
You should not get a Switch Lite if: If the major thing you want to do with your Switch is to play multiplayer games with your roommates or family, the Switch Lite is not a great option for you. Multiplayer is possible, but not ideal. The lack of detachable Joy-Cons and the inability to play on a bigger screen are big problems for local multiplayer, and youre just not going to have the experience you want.
You should not get a Switch Lite if one of the main things you want to do is play Ring Fit Adventure, but of course that is sold out too.

A couple of more notes from Nintendo:
- If you are the first user to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the target system, you will be the new islands resident representative. Moving a house takes some time, so you will be sleeping in a tent on your first night on the island.
- If the island is already inhabited by someone on the target system, your house will be moved over immediately.

Explore Your Island With The Switch Or The Switch Lite
Exciting news for Animal Crossing lovers who own a Nintendo Switch Lite! You can play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on either Switch console. It does take a little extra work to use multiplayer functions on the Switch Lite since the handheld console doesnt come with extra controls or a way to play on your TV.
Since Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesnt use motion controls, single-player and online co-op will be exactly the same on either the Switch or Switch Lite. Up to four people can play on the same island with a single Switch or Switch Lite through Party Play mode. Since the Switch Lite doesnt connect with a TV, you might have to cram around the couch to see whats going on. Everyone will also need their own controller.
One player will serve as the leader, playing the game normally. The other three will be able to use tools to gather resources and can move furniture to help design a home or improve the spaces look. Still, they wont be able to chat, access their inventory, craft, or access any features tied to the NookPhone. The leader can swap control over to another player using their own NookPhone.
