The island save data can also be backed up in case you lose access to your Nintendo Switch system and can be restored on a replacement system.

Can You Play New Horizons Online Without A Switch

Animal Crossing New Horizons is extremely popular right now and it seems that everybody you know is either playing it or wants to be playing it. It is far better than the original Animal Crossing, and gives you far more options when you are playing the game.

Because everybody wants to play this game you may be wondering if you can play New Horizons online without a Switch. It would be extremely cool if not only people who owned the Switch could play the game, but anyone who has access to the Internet.

Unfortunately you cannot play Animal Crossing New Horizons online without a Nintendo Switch. While you can visit peoples islands using the mobile app you are not allowed to have your own island or play the game without owning a Nintendo Switch and the game.

Nintendo wants you to purchase their gaming system as well as their games in order to enjoy all of the fun. After all this is why Nintendo is in business.

Some people want to play the game without spending the money on an account but unfortunately that is not possible. If you want to have all of the perks of playing Animal Crossing New Horizons online you will need to purchase a Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite.

How To Visit Friends’ Islands

If you’d rather go to a friend’s island, talk to Orville and instead tell him you’d like to fly and that you want to visit someone. He’ll again ask you to choose between local play and online play, and you can then either search for a friend–to see if anyone on your Switch friends list has opened their gates to friends–or search via a Dodo Code you’ve received from someone else. Like with inviting friends, you’ll need to coordinate using whatever methods you usually use to talk to your friends and make sure their gates are open.

What To Do On Day 4

Nintendo delays release of Animal Crossing for other new ...

This is going to be a big day. Blathers Museum is going to be fully open, which means you can take everything youve been saving over to him for donation. If youve already donated something, itll be grayed out, so its a good idea to fill your inventory with potential discoveries to see what hell take. Afterward, you can sell everything thats grayed out.

Where do you sell it? Timmy and Tommys Store, of course! Nooks Cranny will be your new shopping destination for new furniture. You can also sell off unneeded items and check the board in front of the store for an in demand item that sells for far more than normal.

Big Goal 1 Build a Bridge

Talk to Tom Nook, who will mention that there are new people interested in moving to your island. But first he wants to make sure theres enough space for them. Hell give you a recipe for a Wooden Bridge, which will make traveling across a single river far easier. Itll require a handful of Wood to create the components, but youve been harvesting every day, right? So you should be fine!

Think long and hard about the placement of your first bridge, though. While the first bridge is free, subsequent bridges will cost a lot of Bells, so make this one count. Put it somewhere that you think will get the most use based on your island layout.

Big Goal 2 Select three housing plots

Big Goal 3 Build furniture for your plots

Big Goal 4 Harvest more resources

You know what to do!

Is It Safe For Children And Young People

Few games are as wholesome as Animal Crossing and you wont find a lot of the common risks associated with other games.

The most notable omission is violence. Animal Crossing is a game centred around unleashing the players creativity and encouraging them to nurture their relationships with other characters, and so does not have any fighting elements to it.

In many games where things take time to happen, power-ups are often included to allow the player to bypass the waiting for a price, of course. Animal Crossing, however, doesnt have microtransactions or loot boxes and the player simply has to wait until the next real-world day for their buildings to be completed. It teaches children that it pays off to be patient and helps naturally divide the gaming sessions into reasonable chunks of time.

Your child will also learn the importance of protecting their data. Whenever the player is asked to name their character or post on the town notice board, theyll receive a prompt if its visible to other players and be reminded not to include any personal information.

Animal Crossing doesnt offer much in terms of settings, but the game has been designed with a young audience in mind by default, so at no point did this feel like an issue.

What Can You Do With Friends

How to Play Animal Crossing New Horizons on PC (Ryujinx Switch Emulator)

When a friend is visiting or you’re visiting their island, you can simply play Animal Crossing together as you normally would . You can exchange items by dropping them on the ground, trade fruit, visit each other’s stores, and talk to each other’s villagers, among other things.

When you aren’t playing together on one island, you can still communicate with friends in a few ways. You can send messages to Best Friends using the Best Friends List app . You can also send letters to any of your friends as long as you’ve played with them online before. You’re limited to two letters per friend per day, but this is a good way to send items to friends if you don’t have time to visit each other’s islands. Finally, you can buy and send friends gifts directly through the Nook Shopping option at the Nook Stop machine in Resident Services–you can even use a special gift card. Both letters and Nook Shopping gifts will arrive in your friend’s mailbox almost immediately, provided they’re connected to the internet.

New Horizons Is A Holiday

The whole premise of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that youre heading to a deserted island for a holiday. To begin, all you have available to you is a tent, and its up to you to get to know your neighbors and take advantage of the world around you to move up in the world.

New Horizons introduces a few long-awaited features, including a robust crafting system. You can use basic resources like wood to craft items, then use items you have crafted to craft even more items. In previous titles, you could only decorate your house, but New Horizons lets you put furniture and decorative items anywhere on the island.

The game also introduces a new currency, known as Nook Miles, that you earn by completing various tasks around the island. You can use your Nook Miles to buy unique items not available through other means. A deeper social system allows you to influence how other residents behave, including where they should build their homes.

The games other systems have also been expanded. Theres now an option to select between northern and southern hemispheres so that the seasons are correct wherever youre playing. There are new types of weather, an expanded character customization system, and for the first time ever the game is in full HD.

The game was supposed to launch in late 2019, but Nintendo delayed it to apply a final layer of polish. In the end, the timing couldnt have been better.

How Do I Use Dodo Codes

Worried about who youre bringing to your precious island? If youre sending out invitations to players who arent on your Switchs friends list , you may want to use the Dodo Code system. Dodo Codes prevent just anyone from hopping on a plane and heading over to your island, and can be used for both Local Play and Online Play. Essentially, only players who know your private code can visit your island.

If you want to work through Dodo Codes, simply choose the Invite via Dodo Code option whilst talking to Orville at Dodo Airlines. Hell give you a five-digit Dodo Code you can pass on to trusted friends, and they in turn can present the code to Orville wholl sort everything else.

If your family has a Nintendo Switch, you can download the Parental Controls app on your mobile to customise your childs gaming experience. We go into more detail on these controls in our Nintendo Switch parent guide.

Its important, however, to bear in mind that although parental controls can help reduce risks, they do not eliminate them. The most effective way to avoid your child experiencing harm online is to build their digital resilience. This includes making sure they understand when theyre at risk, know how to respond to those risks, learn from their experiences and recover when things go wrong. Yes, this is my bug-catchin’ dress.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become a comfort blanket for Nintendo Switch players during the coronavirus pandemic. The game’s simple tasks, like catching fish and bugs, decorating your island, gardening and collecting fruit — even just stopping by a friend’s island to say hello — are helping many cope with the loss of normalcy.
