Catch Bugs During Evening Hours
You can randomly find rare bugs and fish while you play, but I found catching bugs in the evening to be an efficient money maker.
Playing at night in past Animal Crossing games comes with significant restrictions. Shops are closed unless you have a town ordinance in place to keep them available into the late hours, and there are generally fewer things to do with your time. Shops close in New Horizons too, but there are still plenty of other activities to do.
If you want to make the most of your time, catching bugs in the evening hours can be immensely profitable. At least during the current season in the northern hemisphere , you can catch a number of expensive critters. Tarantulas in particular arent all that rare they roam your town and its outskirts at night fairly regularly, and they can be sold for 8,000 bells each. Pro tip: Tarantulas may seem difficult to catch at first, but if you spot one in the distance, you can approach it slowly by holding down A with your net in hand. From there, the tarantula will lift its front legs to charge. Thats the sign to stop. Then just move closer, inch by inch. When its legs go down and youre finally close enough, trap it with your net.
As for other insects, emperor butterflies can be found during early mornings and all through the night, particularly near cliffs and flowers. Man-faced stink bugs are also worthwhile, which go for 1,000, but theyre so common that you can find a number at a time.
What Happens If You Bury 99000 Bells
If the player buries 10,000-99,000 bells, there is a 70% chance of 3x 10,000 bells and a 30% chance of 3x the amount buried. The game decides this the moment the money is buried in the glowing spot. There is no pattern whatsoever to when you will get the original investment back or the capped investment.
Stopping Wasps In Their Tracks
Nothing is worse than shaking a tree to find a wasp nest falling at your feet. Youve only got seconds to run into a building or get your net, but what if you need more time?
As luck would have it, you can halt the Wasps attack by either opening your inventory, or pressing up on the DPAD for your tool ring if youve bought the upgrade from Nooks Shop. With this, youll be able to take a moment to find and swap to your net â just be ready to quickly pivot and swipe to catch them before you get stung.
You can also keep yourself out of this situation by keeping a net equipped while shaking trees and by only shaking them from the front as shown in the screenshot below. Your character will automatically turn to face the wasps if a nest drops, making for a super easy catch!

Save Your Rarest Bugs And Fish: The Most Valuable Animal Crossing Fish And Insects
If youre at all invested in Animal Crossing social media, youll know people go nuts when they snag the rarest fish and bugs. Dorados, great white sharks, scorpions, horned Hercules, and the elusive coelacanth are all fine examples of specimens for which Timmy and Tommy will pay a pretty penny.
But wait! Dont sell these veritable gold mines to those capitalist middlemen when you can go directly to C.J. and Flick, the fish and bug geeks of Animal Crossing. They pay an extra 50% compared to the prices youd get at Nooks Cranny, which really adds up when youre selling rare critters. Just look at the adjusted sale prices for the most sought-after catches:
- Wasp 2,500 3,750
- Sturgeon 10,000 15,000
- Barreleye 15,000 22,500
Once you catch a rare fish or bug, it makes sense to stick it in home storage and wait until they come to visit on a random weekday. Unfortunately, C.J. and Flick arent guaranteed to appear every week, but if they dont show up one week, they are guaranteed to show up the following week.
Unless youre in urgent need of money, patience will reward you handsomely. Say you catch 20 scorpions on a Nook Miles Ticket island tour. Nooks entrepreneurial offspring will give you 160,000 for the lot. Sounds great, right? Well, sell them to Flick and youll net a cool 240,000 bells instead. Take that, capitalism!
Exchange A Bell Voucher For 3000 Bells
At a certain point in the game youll be able to redeem Bell Vouchers from the Nook Stop inside Resident Services by using Nook Miles. Bell Vouchers cost 500 Nook Miles and can be exchanged at Nooks Cranny for 3,000 Bells.
Theres no limit to the amount of Bell Vouchers you can purchase in one day and youll receive the ticket immediately. This is a great option for later in the game when you need a quick lump sum of cash.

Hold On To Your Perfect Fruit
Occasionally you’ll stumble upon a perfect fruit, which presumably tastes very good. These perfect fruits can be sold for insane prices, but you’ll want to hold on to your perfect native fruit until you visit a friend’s island where it’s considered exotic. Selling a perfect exotic fruit could net you up to 3,000 Bells in one go, so make sure you don’t waste them.
Sell Fossils After Assessing Them
Fossils sell for a good price at Nooks Cranny, but only if you have it assessed by Blathers at the Museum. Theres a total of 4 to 5 fossils a day. Get more fossils by visiting certain Mystery Islands!
Look for T-Rex Fossils
The T-Rex fossils are among the most profitable, selling between 5000 to 6000 Bells a piece depending on the part.
T-Rex fossils arent the only fossils that sell for a good price though! Check out our guide below to learn more.

Plant Exotic Fruit Trees
Traveling to another island will usually yield a large amount of exotic fruit. This can be sold back home for a bit more cash than your native fruit, but why keep a fish when you could keep a fishing pole? Plant a few exotic fruits on your island, water them, and watch them become renewable sources of cash when you check in every day.
Greedy Gardening: Plant A Money Tree
Im sure by now youve noticed a glowing patch of grass somewhere else on your island every day. Dig it up, and you get 1,000 bells. It may not sound like much pocket money, but take another look. That patch is still glowing when you extract the cash, right? Well, toss a bag of cash back in there, and youll sprout a money tree in five or six days with sacks of bells hanging from it like fruit.
These wont regrow like fruit, and youll only get 3,000 bells per day if you throw back in what you get. But play it smart. Instead of that chump change, dump a sack of 10,000 bells in the hole, and youll boost the payout to 30,000 per tree. Make it a daily chore, and youll gain a net 140,000 bells per week.
However, players have been trying a new trick that seems to be working out. Although most players wont try it, some gamblers will bury 99,000 bells in a hole. For a long time, players thought this risk wasnt worth it. But if you wait until a day when, during the morning announcements, Isabelle mentions that her astrology said she will be lucky, then its time to bury 99,000 bells. Its the only way youll be able to yield 297,000 bells from the money tree.

Experiment With Different Fruits
Every island starts with a different fruit which players can grow and sell for some Bells. This is a good way of earning Bells early on. But what if we were to tell you that there is a better way, a way through which you can earn even more Bells from just selling fruits.
To fully optimize your fruit farm, you will have to travel to either your friendsâ island or a resource island. Once there, look for the fruit thatâs growing there. If its different from the one you have growing on your island, pick it up and add them to your inventory. Now, head back to your island and use this fruit to plant trees. And thatâs about it. Since this is a non-native fruit, it is going to sell for more than the one you previously had. Check out this blog post if youre curious about which fruit trees are available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
How To Get Island Fruits
Before you can get island fruits, you have to unlock access to the island.Read the going to the islandguide to learn how to do that.
Get Fruits from the First Island
When you go to the island, you start in a wooden building where you can buy souvenirs, go on tours, sell things, and check the ATM. Go through the south exit of this building to find a smallisland. There should be either banana trees or coconut trees on the sand, and trees with one of theother types of island fruits on the grass in the middle.
Take Fruit During Tours
In the wooden building where you first arrive on the island, speak to Leilani, who is standing behind the counter. She will tell you a list of the tours that you can go on today. To learn more about island tours, check out theIsland Tours page.
Some tours require you to give Tortimer some fruit. If you are on a tour where this is NOTthe case , then you can keep any fruit that youtake from the trees during the tour.It will be in your inventory when you are done with the tour. The fruit on the trees during a tour is random, so just go onmany tours until you have collected the types of fruit that you dont have.Send these back to your town using the box next to Leilanis counter.

Buy Turnips And Play The Stalk Market
Every Sunday a young turnip seller called Daisy-Mae will come to your island between the hours of 5am and 12 midday selling her wares in bunches of 10. Throughout the week you are able to sell the turnips back to Timmy & Tommy and make a vast profit in the process.
However, investment doesn’t come without risk. Firstly, the buying price fluctuates daily so you’ll have to ask the raccoons and check how much they are buying for every day if you’re going to sell at the best possible time. Secondly, you only have until the next Sunday to sell the turnips before they spoil and become worthless fodder for ants and flies. If it gets to the following Saturday and the price hasn’t risen over what you paid for them, it’s best to sell and swallow the loss. Note that Timmy & Tommy do not buy turnips on a Sunday, and you can’t leave them in the drop-off box either: 9.59pm on Saturday evening is your last chance to sell them before Timmy & Tommy close up shop.
Selling Shells The Hot Item And Floating Presents
There are a few other things you can sell whenever you come across them. Make a point of doing a morning and evening scavenge of your islands shores. Youll find a ton of shells that can be sold for a small amount of Bells, but it all helps.
Alternatively, you can sell The Hot Item to Timmy and Tommy at Nooks Cranny once its opened on your island. The Hot Item changes each day, but if you sell the item to them on this chosen day youll get double the buying price for it.
Finally, whenever you see presents floating through the sky attached to balloons, you can shoot them down with your slingshot. Run directly beneath them and fire up to get it. Whats inside varies, but it can always be sold for a bit of extra cash.
Thats all of the tips we have for getting Bells fast in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for now. Be sure to head over to our wiki, search for Twinfinite, or check out more of our content on the game below.

Selling ‘hot’ Items In Nook’s Cranny
Once you’ve unlocked your island’s shop, you’ll have the opportunity to ask Timmy and Tommy what’s hot today. It’ll be a piece of furniture you can craft, and will be sellable for double the usual price. If you have the resources, it’s well worth doing to be honest, especially if you get a high value item. We got Hearths one day, which let us craft pockets full of them and sell them for over 10,000 bells apiece.
Heres The Fastest Way To Make Bells Early On
You wont have all that many opportunities to make Bells early on in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Consider the method below when youre just starting out.

Selling Fish And Bugs
One of the best ways to make Bells early on in Animal Crossing New Horizons is to sell fish and bugs. Obviously, you’ll want to donate the new species that you find to Blathers , but spending some time fishing and catching bugs will quickly make you money. Fish like the Golden Trout are particularly lucrative, and keep an eye out for any Peacock butterflies while exploring your island .
Watch Out For Hot Items Especially Ones You Can Craft
Every day, the Nooklings will have a new “hot item” on their bulletin board . The hot item will sell for a good deal more money than usual, so make sure to sell as many as you can make. If the hot item is, say, wooden posts, grind out some wood from every tree on your island and use all your materials to make wooden posts. Sell them to the Nooklings for a huge profit. Remember that each island has its own hot item every day, so if you’re planning to visit a friend’s island, ask what their hot item is ahead of time so you can take it with youit might be something you’ve been stockpiling.

Give Gifts To Villagers
Generosity goes a long way. Once a villager is on your island for at least a week with frequent communication, you can begin giving them daily gifts and helping them with tasks as needed. More often than not, they’ll give you something in return, sometimes in the form of bells. Otherwise you can collect and sell the items that they give you.
Of course, they won’t give you a huge amount of bells, but all those little amounts will add up.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Time Travel Cheat
In Animal Crossing, time progresses based on your consoleâs internal clock, so you can fast-forward or rewind time by adjusting the date settings on your Switch. For example, by advancing the clock one day, your island will be replenished with fresh items and resources. This trick can be used to speed up building construction and other tasks that require the passage of time. If you jump too far ahead into the future, though, your island will be overrun with weeds and cockroaches, causing villagers to pack their bags.

Sell The Item Of The Day
Progress through the days and youll eventually see Timmy and Tommy set up Nooks Cranny, a shop that stocks all kinds of useful goods. They also ask for one special item each day, doubling its value when sold. If you can, collect and give these items over at the store on the day they show up and you can make big bells in no time at all.
Sell Turnips At High Prices
The Stalk Market has been a mainstay in the Animal Crossing franchise since the beginning. Daisy Mae visits islands every Sunday morning until 12 p.m. with a fresh crop of turnips, which she sells at prices ranging from 90 to 110 bells per turnip. Players then have one week to sell their turnips to Timmy and Tommy, who can offer prices from 15 bells to 650 bells. The price changes twice a day. It’s a bit of a gamble, because you never know if or when you will get a decent price.
Thankfully, there are tools on the Internet to help track and predict daily turnip prices. In addition, you can check out sites like Turnip Exchange to find islands with high prices. Fill your pockets with turnips and reap the rewards.

Issue : Its Missing Some Sort Of Story
The one unanimous point that the iMore staff agreed upon regarding issues in New Horizons was that it lacked a story. Its one of the main reasons plenty of us just stopped playing. There just isnt one! You arrive on an island, you fix it, you terraform it, and then you pay Tom Nook back. Thats the end! Sure, its fun finding all of the possible villagers, but its impossible to build a story around them. Plus, what happens once you have them? Do you keep them prisoner or let them leave?
If there is any extra information about NPCs, it doesnt have much of an impact. Even the picture quest seems to fall flat since its pretty much based on how many times you talk to them and give them gifts. Everything about this trip to a deserted island just seems hollow.
How others do it
Both Stardew Valley and Cozy Grove have a similar structure to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but the big difference is that its not just about building a tropical island. The other games actually have a story, and having a narrative is a great way to keep players engaged. Even if the gameplay is the same, the story is what will bring players back. In Stardew Valley, its even possible to marry townspeople and have a family, and thats just one possibility.
