Animal Crossing Season 5 Amiibo Cards Coming This November
Fans of the popular town builder/turnip-based capitalism simulator Animal Crossing will be excited to learn that Season 5 amiibo cards will be coming in November. There will be 48 new cards in total and they will feature some of the newer characters found in the New Horizons game that kept us all company during the darkest days of 2020 and 2021. The cards work very much like your standard amiibo figurines, except theyre cards and not figurines. Tapping them on the sweet spot on your Switch will allow you to summon the character to your town, which will save you the hassle of traveling to a bunch of islands over and over again until you finally find someone good.
While the 48 total cards are half of what previous seasons offered season 4 had 100 characters, for example there have been some favorites that have yet to grace the face of an amiibo card. While we dont have a complete list quite yet, heres who we know will be included:

“Via those two means of currency you can grow and prosper and sell and work your way into every Animal Crossing citizen’s dream: your own house,” Wang says.
As the game goes on and your island improves, you’re faced with certain choices: Should you sell your valuable Koi fish? Or, donate it to Blathers and his museum?
You could also consider paying off the mortgage on your island.

Animal Crossing: A Perfectly Timed Nostalgic Release For The Daily Nebraskan Staff
Since 2001, the video game Animal Crossing has touched the hearts of players everywhere with its customizability, creative elements and downright cuteness. The newest rendition, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, was released on March 20, nearly perfectly coinciding with the U.S. governments advisory to self-isolate due to the coronavirus. With everyone stuck indoors, the game has surged in popularity as it provides players with a way to pass time, interact with their friends and show off their progress. Many Animal Crossing-playing members of The Daily Nebraskan detailed their thoughts on the game and its merits.

My Animal Crossing story started back when 6-year-old me received a GameCube and the original Animal Crossing game from Santa Claus. At that time, my gameplay mostly consisted of collecting clothes to display in my house, becoming best friends with Mable and Sable and accidentally ruining the work of my mom, who was also an avid player. When I heard the new Animal Crossing: New Horizons game was to be released soon, I was so excited to be able to relive my childhood on a gameplay software far more advanced than I could have dreamed of at that age.

How Many Villagers Can I Have On My Island
While there are 393 possible recruits in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, your island is only big enough to house 10 villagers or less. It’s also important to keep in mind that each villager has a different personality type, which might not get along so well with certain other villager personality types.
Don’t worry. If you already have 10 villagers and you want to kick someone off your island to make room for someone else, there’s a way to do it. Here’s a guide for how to remove unwanted villagers from New Horizons.

Siliconera Speaks Up: The Animal Crossing Best Villagers
There are times when an Animal Crossing game can feel more like a Pokemon title, when you consider how many different neighbors could appear. After all, over 380 characters are in Animal Crossing: New Horizons alone. But which of these animals are among the Animal Crossing best villagers? Its a question with no real answer, to be sure. However, our staff does have some favorites wed like to share.
Im here to tell you today about Marshal. Marshal is a squirrel that could easily be mistaken for a fluffy marshmallow. Hes a little smug, but theres nothing wrong with being a bit pretentious sometimes! Especially since hes still so kind to lazy villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I love him for his pink cheeks, his cheeky demeanor, and the fact that he is super teeny. Look at his little face. Plus, the squirrels do that little upside-down V mouth that is precious. I forced Biff to move out for him!
Ill leave you with this performance of Marshal singing K.K. Sliders Two Days Ago. Jenni
All Marshal wants to do is sing Two Days Ago, but the butterflies keep distracting him! #ACNH
And I would know. Cube was my next-door neighbor in my first two Animal Crossing games, and I went out of my way to get him back in every game since. He is my best friend and pal, and Nintendo did something very wrong to him in this new game. Graham

Weeks With Animal Crossing: New Horizons Reveals Many Frustrations
A new GamesBeat event is around the corner! Learn more about what comes next.
Ive had Animal Crossing: New Horizons for six weeks. Nintendo sent me a copy for review at the end of February, and Ive played it almost every day since then. I have more than 120 hours of playtime, according to my Switch Lite. Thats not as much as some, and thats actually one of the problems that Ive noticed since my review.
The issue isnt that I havent played as much as others but that I feel the need to make comparison in the first place. After the initial tutorial experience, which lasts approximately two weeks of daily play, New Horizons is devoid of explicit goals. Nintendo wants players to feel free to decide what to do. And while I havent put much time into achieving a 5-star rating for my island, I feel more and more like I should when I see others showing off theirs on Twitter.
When I wrote my review before the public release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I didnt realize just how much social media would change the way the game feels. Social channels were around in 2013, when Animal Crossing: New Leaf launched for 3DS. But they werent as ubiquitous. More important, it was significantly more challenging to post a screenshot from Nintendos dual-screen 3D portable than it is from the Switch.
Of course, that didnt stop me:

Can You Make Villagers Leave
As we mentioned, ignore the villager as much as possible. Just talking to them gives you more friendship points. Instead push them around by running into them and give them garbage or spoiled turnips as a gift. With this method you should be able to get a new villager to move out in about five days. When theyre fully disgruntled, a cloud will stay over their head. This is an indicator that its a good time to talk to them. They may ask you if they should leave the island and you can encourage them to do so.
Hitting villagers with a net will make them leave faster, but it may also cause them to talk to you. Doing so will keep them from wanting to leave so you should not do that. The same can be said of complaining to Isabelle, this does not work either. Isabelle can only make them change outfits or their speech patterns, neither of which is effective at making people leave.
And thats it! Hopefully this helps you get settled into your new Animal Crossing: New Horizons island!

How To Unlock & Invite These New Villagers
As far as we know so far, all 16 new villagers introduced in Version 2.0 will be added into the normal pool of Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers you can find randomly moving onto your island, visiting at the campsite, or on a Mystery Island using Nook Mile Tickets.
There is a small possibility that restrictions could apply, like the card-exclusive Sanrio Villagers released earlier this year, but theres no indication of that yet.
Use Series 5 Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards
All sixteen of these fresh new villagers coming in Version 2.0 have their own Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards set to be released as part of Series 5 on November 5th, 2021.
If you can manage to pick up one of those lovely new Amiibo Cards for any of the new villagers, youll be able to easily invite them to your island using the machine inside Resident Services.
Note that Series 5 Amiibo Cards do come in randomly assorted packs of 6 or 3 cards, depending on the region, so obtaining the correct cards you want could be quite a hassle. The 16 new villagers also only represent about a quarter of the possible 48 cards you could draw.
What Are Villagers And Why Are People Ranking Them
In the words of John Donne: “No man is an island.” And you probably want some company on yours.
There are nearly 400 individualised villagers in the game including a waistcoat-wearing cat named Raymond, and a rainbow-coloured teddy bear named Stitches.
The game allocates you two villagers to start, and you can have up to 10 living on your island at any given time.
But you’ll want to choose carefully.
Supplied: Grace Bruxner
Games designer Grace Bruxner, who has clocked over 300 hours playing Animal Crossing, says “there’s a lot of discussion online about which villagers are the best and which are the worst”.
What do people usually consider the best? “They either have to look like an anime character or are very cute or a bit weirder than other villagers,” says Bruxner.
There are a number of ways to get villagers, including visiting mystery islands or building a campsite.
In a dark turn towards rampant free-market capitalism, some players are even buying their favourite villagers.
Bruxner doesn’t like to rank Animal Crossing’s villagers, with her sights set on other things: “If you become really good friends with a villager they give you a photo of themselves I haven’t gotten there, it takes a long time, but I really want it.”
