All the Fruits Available in Animal Crossing and How To Get Them
As an avid Animal Crossing player for years, I’ve collected my fair share of the various fruits available in the games. From common apples and cherries to rare perfect fruits, the types of fruit you can find and grow make crafting furniture, making money, and gift giving fun in Animal Crossing.
The Main Fruits
There are 5 main fruit types that you can find on the trees around your island and other islands in Animal Crossing games:
- Apples – Red apples are one of the most common fruits. They sell for 100 bells each.
- Cherries – Cherry trees grow bright red cherries. They can be sold for 200 bells each.
- Oranges – Sweet oranges sell for 400 bells each, making them very profitable.
- Peaches – Pink peaches collected from trees also sell for a base price of 400 bells.
- Pears – Green pears sell for less at 200 bells per pear.
Your own island will have one native fruit type growing on most trees when you first arrive. However, you can obtain the other fruits by visiting friends’ islands, using Nook Miles Tickets to fly to mystery islands, or purchasing starts from the cabinet in Nook’s Cranny once it upgrades from a tent.
Rare Fruits
In addition to the main fruits, there are some exotic and perfect fruits that are harder to come by in Animal Crossing:
Coconuts – Palm trees generate coconuts, which sell for 250 bells each. You’ll find these trees on beach areas of your island and mystery islands. Shake them to knock down some coconuts every few days.
Bamboo – Technically categorized as a type of tree rather than fruit, bamboo generates bamboo pieces you can sell for 60 bells each day. You’ll occasionally find bamboo island layouts with the Nook Miles islands. Dig up some fully grown bamboo shoots and plant them back home.
Bananas – Exotic banana trees can appear on mystery islands and generate tasty bananas worth 300 bells each! Grab some to plant if you find bananas.
Lemons – The rarest of the main fruits, lemons sell for a whopping 600 bells each! Ask friends if they have lemons you can take.
Perfect Fruit – Every town has one unique perfect fruit, distinguished by a leaf-like stem. These sell for a huge 3,000 bells each! You’ll get one perfect fruit tree when starting your town. Plant it and enjoy big bell profits.
Using Fruit in Animal Crossing
Beyond making cash, there are creative ways to use fruit in the Animal Crossing games as well:
- Gift fruit to villagers to raise friendship levels and unlock reactions.
- Craft DIY furniture and items using fruit as ingredients.
- Eat fruit to break rocks or dig up whole trees.
- Mail wrapped fruit gifts to players on your Best Friends list.
With so many types of fruit available in the various Animal Crossing games, collecting all the different varieties can keep the gameplay fresh and rewarding for a long time. It satisfies that collector itch while also making you some nice profits!
From my years playing Animal Crossing, I’ve definitely had fun experiences tracking down every fruit for my island. Here’s a real-life case from my New Horizons gameplay…
One day, I used up nearly 10,000 Nook Miles and countless tickets trying to locate lemon and banana trees. I was about ready to give up, when Bam the deer villager randomly mailed me lemon and banana saplings as a gift! It reinforced how the kindness of friends, even virtual Animal Crossing ones, can help you reach your goals.
In the end, the patience and persistence paid off once I finally planted rows of each fruit tree type outside my house. Despite some hassles, I enjoyed gradually filling up the orchard section of my island. Additionally, all those harvested and sold fruits over time really added up to big profits and expanded what furniture I could craft.
So if you find yourself struggling to obtain some of the rarer fruits, don’t get discouraged. Keep visiting islands, ask friends if they have anything to spare, and even check your own island’s mystery tour layout each day. You never know when that bamboo island or coveted perfect fruit may pop up!

FAQ
What fruits can you find in Animal Crossing?
There are several fruits available in Animal Crossing games, including apples, cherries, oranges, peaches, pears, and coconuts. Your island will have one native fruit that is more abundant, but you can obtain other fruits through trading, visiting islands, or receiving gifts.
Do all the fruit trees in Animal Crossing look the same?
No, each fruit has a unique looking tree in the game. Apple trees have round, light green leaves, while cherry trees have darker oval shaped leaves. Orange, peach, and pear trees have pink or white blossoms when they are in season and ready to bear fruit.
How often do fruit trees produce fruit in Animal Crossing?
Fruit trees in Animal Crossing will produce fruit about every 3 days. However, you need to make sure you pick all the fruit off the tree each time or the tree will stop producing until harvested again.
Can I plant non-native fruit trees on my Animal Crossing island?
Yes! Once you obtain fruit that is not native to your island, you can plant those fruit trees as well to increase the variety available. This allows you to develop orchards of different fruit trees over time.
Do villagers ever want to buy fruit from you in Animal Crossing?
Villagers may occasionally request to purchase stacks of fruit from you. They tend to offer premium prices for non-native fruit varieties. This can be a great way to earn some extra bells. Alternatively, you can give fruit as gifts to raise your friendship level with villagers.
Should I sell my fruit or use it for crafting in Animal Crossing?
It depends on your needs and goals! Fruit sells for a modest amount at Nook’s Cranny or when giving to Flick/CJ. However, many DIY recipes require fruit as ingredients. Save some to use for crafting fun items or gifting villagers rather than selling it all.
