Animal Crossing: New Horizons
We’re halfway through the month of July and there are still many things left to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. One of them is certainly catching all the rare bugs and deep-sea creatures that have arrived this month.
Several bugs and deep-sea creatures arrived in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and catching them is extremely rewarding. Some of these are very rare and sell for upwards of 10,000 bells.
Given their high price, catching these rare critters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an extremely tough task. Either their spawn rates are low, or they are very timid, giving players only a few opportunities to catch them. However, a quick guide can certainly help players ensure they don’t miss a single chance to catch these rare July bugs and deep-sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Rare July Bugs In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
All the new rare July bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons spawn on trees and can easily be caught using a bug net if players are careful enough. The bugs that sell for and above 10,000 bells are Scarab Beetle, Giant Stag, Golden Stag, Giraffe Stag, and Horned Hercules.
All these rare July bugs belong to the beetle species in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Scarab Beetle and Giant Stag spawn on any tree between 11 PM – 8 AM while the other three bugs only spawn on Palm trees between 5 PM – 8 AM.
Approaching these rare bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the hardest part. Players should have their net ready even before they start walking. Next, they should hold A and walk forward a few steps at a time. Finally, once the bug is in the catching range of the net, players can release A and catch it.

How To Catch The Rare Blue Marlin Fish
Note: Rare fish are rare spawns which means some may get it soon while others may take a little longer. Dont give up.
The location to catch the rare Blue Marlin fish in Animal Crossing New Horizons is the Pier. The Pier is the wooden dock you can find along the beaches of your island. When you wish to try to catch the Blue Marlin head to the end of the Pier and use Fish Bait to make fish spawn. Focus on the extra large shadows as these are possible Blue Marlin spawns. If other fish appear simply scare them away and repeat the fish baiting process.
Infinite Fish Bait: If you feel like using a bit of an exploit to preserve your Fish Bait I have one for you. Craft about 5 7 Fish Bait and then save and exit your game. Head back into the game and go to the fishing spot. Here you have about 2.5 Minutes to fish before the game autosaves. Before the autosave triggers simply kill the game via the Nintendo Switch homescreen to have essentially infinite Fish Bait. Repeat this process until youve caught the fish you desire.
Spend your time trying to catch the extra large shadows you see appear and eventually you will catch the big Blue Marlin. This is one of a few rare fish players can catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How To Catch Tuna In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Before you start aiming to catch tuna in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to know the core details about when the fish is around and what its worth. Here are the core tuna details:
- When: All Day, November – April / May – October
- Where: Sea
- Shadow Size: Massive
- Value: 7,000 Bells
As noted above, the Tuna is available only from November to April in the Northern Hemisphere, and May to October in the Southern Hemisphere. It appears as a massive shadow, making it quite distinct from other fish.;
The biggest challenge to catching a tuna in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that its only available from the pier. This means you can only catch it from any wooden platform which stands out over the sea. Your island will have one of these on its east or west coast, but you can also fish from the pier next to the airport, if you so wish.;
Its worth checking your pier periodically throughout the day just in case any massive shadows appear, but the real way to increase your odds of catching a tuna are through island tours. Fish spawn at an increased rate while on any island tour, making it much easier to get the rarer fish in the game. We recommend crafting plenty – at least 10 or more – of fish bait and two or more fishing rods before heading out on a tour.

Where Is The Pier And How Do You Catch Blue Marlin There
The pier is the small wooden platform that will be located along one of the beaches of your island in New Horizons. It is not the jetty where your airport is located.
To make catching a blue marlin easier, you should stand at the end of your pier. This won’t prevent other fish aside from these two from spawning, but it will prevent you from accidentally fishing outside of the spawn zone a blue marlin.
The real issue with catching this fish, however, is that you either need to be very lucky or, more likely, a lot of fish bait.
You need one manila clam to make one bag of fish bait, which, of course, you can only use once. So grab your shovel, start beachcombing and wonder why the game won’t let you craft fish bait in batches.
Blue Marlin Sell Price
As its one of the harder fish to catch in the game, the Blue Marlin can be sold for 10,000 bells at Nooks Cranny. Like all other fish in the game, you can also sell it at a nice premium if CJs on your island.

How To Catch Rare Fish
Lets start by explaining some of the mechanics surrounding the scarcity of fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The fish are divided into various spawn pools, as it were. There are fish that spawn in the river, ocean, or ponds. And even among these, they can be divided into other subsets, such as fish that breed in high rivers above cliffs and those that breed in the mouth of the river. On the ocean side, some fish only spawn near the pier, while others appear when it rains. And all of that can change depending on the time of day, with some appearing all day, others appearing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and others only appearing from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. The weather is also a factor, with rain or snow bringing out rare fish quite often, check out this guide for more information.
Most rare fish are found in the ocean, but the rarity can be relative. If you do all your fishing in the ocean, you have to mix it up. The ponds offer fish such as koi carp and goldfish that cannot be found elsewhere. And the river offers rare fish like the arowana, but only from December to March. So of course you have to fish all the time. Spread out your fishing hours, so that you get fish from all over the schedule. And youll need to fish throughout the year to make sure you dont miss out on any seasonal fish. Variety is the key, but so is dedication.

Fishing In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Fishing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons isnt too complicated, but there are some things you should be aware of. For starters, each fish will give you some indication of its presence, such as a shadow or fin. The size of the fishs shadow is indicative of how big the fish is which makes sense. So, if youre prioritizing a specific fish that happens to be large, you can safely skip over the smaller shadows.
To fish, you need to have a fishing rod, which can be purchased from Nooks Cranny . Approach a body of water, such as a river, pond, or the sea, and look for a shadow to appear. Typically, these shadows will indicate the presence of a fish, but sometimes youll only get trash instead. Throw your line at the fishs shadow, let it sit for a few moments, and as soon as it plops down, reel in the line. If timed correctly, youll catch the fish. In addition, if youre playing on a normal Nintendo Switch , youll feel a vibration indicating its time to reel in the fish.
Keep in mind, you can always sell your fish at Nooks Cranny, but once a week, CJ comes to your island, and he actually offers more bells than youd get otherwise, so it pays to sell to him instead. You must finish CJs fishing challenge before hell accept fish from you. CJ will appear anywhere around your island, so keep an eye out for him as you explore.
