How To Tell If A Sea Creature Is Fast In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Players who have just begun diving for sea creatures and who have not yet found them all at least once to enter in their encyclopedia typically won’t be able to tell which shadows belong to fast sea creatures. Much like fish shadows, there is not much to denote whether a creature will be the quick Giant Isopod or the considerably slower Tiger Prawn apart from shadow size.
Players should approach any bubbles in the water as slowly as possible until they can more easily determine whether the shadow belongs to a faster or slower sea creature. This way, no matter what, they won’t scare off a potentially valuable critter.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch.

Some Sea Creatures Swim Away
While some Sea Creatures don’t move even when you swim close to them, a lot of them try to get away from you. This also makes it easier to tell them apart, however, so it can work in your favor!
For example, Scallops and Octopuses move while Sea Anemones do not, so you can avoid the stationary Sea Creatures and aim only for the moving ones and vice versa, depending on what you’re looking for!
Drive the fast Sea Creatures towards the Net
Some of the Sea Creatures you can catch swim very fast, such as the Lobster and the Spider Crab. When catching fast-paced Sea Creatures, it helps a lot to steer them towards the net surrounding you island and trap them against it. Remember to repeatedly tap the A button too, to swim faster!
How To Find The Sea Pig In Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing: New Horizons summer swimming update has unleashed several new creatures from the depths to catch, including the sea pig.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ new summer update has changed up the fishing mechanism, allowing players to catch things like crabs, clams, and even a sea pig. The sea pig is just one of many creatures that can be caught while diving, using the summer swimming update to the best of its ability. Due to this update, the true fisherman of Animal Crossing will have to take a new approach to fill their critterpedia.
To use diving to catch underwater critters, players should get comfortable with the swimming mechanics of the game. Depending on the speed of the creature, different techniques will need to be employed to catch them. Here’s how to catch a sea pig.

Animal Crossing New Horizons: How To Catch A Giant Isopod
Don’t let this fast critter get away!
To catch these sea creatures, youll need to swim around the ocean surrounding your island until you see bubbles appearing at the surface of the water. These bubbles are coming from a sea creature that can be captured!
Similar to regular fish, youll only see the shadow of a sea creature before you actually capture it. Some shadows are stationary, while others move at various speeds.
The giant isopod is one of the sea creatures that moves really quickly under the water, but were here with a tip that will help you catch them!
Giant isopods will appear around islands in the Northern Hemisphere from July to October. According to All Gamers, theyll appear around islands in the Southern Hemisphere from January to April. The giant isopod will appear during two different time windows each day: from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and then again from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Once youve discovered a fast sea creature like the giant isopod — that is, a sea creature with a shadow that runs away from you quickly after you dive under the water — youll want to come back up to the surface of the water and slowly swim closer to the bubbles at the surface.
When you dive, you should be pretty close to the creatures shadow, and you can quickly snap it up before it has the chance to pick up speed and get away!
How To Get A Swimming Costume And Go Swimming
The first thing you should do when logging into Animal Crossing: New Horizons is to go get yourself a fresh new swimming costume. Gotta make the most of summer.
Once you’ve gotten a diving suit from Nook’s Cranny, you’re ready to go swimming in the sea. No option to go diving into the rivers of your island unfortunately, but you will find more than enough to do in the sea.
You can enter pretty much anywhere, but you will only be able to emerge from the sea on beaches.

How To Catch Sea Creatures By Diving
Exclusively found deep under the sea in your islands surrounding ocean, you must go swimming and dive into the water in order to find and catch these special Sea Creatures. A Wet Suit item is required to go swimming.
Youll be able to spot Sea Creatures in the ocean by looking out for suspicious bubbles floating up from an area while swimming. When you see these bubbles over an area, press the Y button to begin diving deep into the water and swim towards any shadows they look just like the fish shadows youre used to!
After chasing down a sea creature shadow, youll catch the critter which can either be donated to the Museum or sold at Nooks Cranny to Timmy & Tommy for Bells.
Donate Sea Creatures To The Museum
Just as with Fish and Bugs, youll want to donate these Sea Creatures to your islands Museum the first time you catch them. You can find Sea Creatures cataloged in your NookPhones Critterpedia as well, including whether they have already been donated or not.

Can Get By Diving
Pearls can be obtained by diving in the water and picking them up, just like Sea Creatures. Their sale price is quite high, and are used for Mermaid set DIY Recipes, so youll want to stock up on them!
Cannot Be Donated To Blathers
Pearls are not considered a Sea Creature, meaning they cant be given to Blathers in the museum. They are instead treated as a DIY crafting material!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons first summer update is finally live. While its not quite summer for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, we do get the new update and every feature involved. The first of these is diving, a returning mechanic from past games which allows players to dive into the ocean and hunt for sea creatures. Heres how diving works and how you can catch every critter.
If your game hasnt automatically updated, youll need to click the + button and manually select software update via the internet to get started. Youll know you have the latest version if Isabelles morning announcements include a description of the new diving activity.
To get started, youll need to head to Nooks Cranny and purchase a wet suit for 3,000 bells.
From there head to a beachfront, pier or overhanging rock and you can dive directly into the water using the A button. I recommend diving off the pier it produces a very satisfying splash.
As you explore, youll notice bubbles rising to the surface.
Find Pearls In The Ocean While Diving
In addition to the Sea Creatures above, you can also find the Pearl item in the ocean while diving, which is used in Pascals Mermaid Set crafting recipes. While its found in the ocean, the Pearl does not technically count as a Sea Creature as it cannot be donated to the Museum or collected in the Critterpedia.
However, the Pearl shouldnt be overlooked as it is an important crafting material to make Mermaid Set furniture items and can be sold for a hefty 10,000 Bells each! Check out our full guide to getting Pearls here.

How To Catch A Fast Sea Creature In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
When players see shadows in the water, it may indicate there are sea creatures to be caught at the bottom of the ocean. They will want to don their Wet Suit and press A to jump into the water. They will see bubbles near the location of the shadow, much the same way they see shadows of fish. The bubbles indicate there is a creature to catch from that spot.
Players will want to use only the analog stick to move toward the bubbles, making sure they don’t push any other buttons. This allows them to swim at the slowest speed and approach the bubbles without frightening the creature into fleeing. Players can get closer to the bubbles this way, limiting the distance between them and the creature. Faster speeds will encourage the creature to swim or scuttle away, and players will miss their opportunity. Players should think of this the same way they think about netting skittish bugs.
When a player swims directly on top of the bubbles, or as close to them as possible, they should press Y to dive down. When they come back up, they will have caught the speedy sea creature.
How To Find Sea Creatures In Animal Crossing
Sea creatures can only be found while diving underwater in the ocean. You’ll know you’re near one when you see a column of bubbles floating to the surface, or when you’re already underwater and spot a dark shadow beneath the waves. Just dive under and swim over to the shadow to automatically collect the creature. Sometimes the shadow might be moving, so you will have to follow or chase it.
The bubble column appears differently depending on the creature, similar to the way fish shadow sizes differ. Their underwater shadow sizes also differ, as well as their swimming pattern and speed.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sea Creature Prices
has arrived! And although every sea creature has now had at least one turn on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons island since swimming was introduced to the game last July, there’s still plenty of weird and wonderful critters to catch out there in the ocean including some interesting arrivals and departures for the month.
Whatever sea creatures you’re on the look-out for, this guide covers when to find them, how to catch them, and how much they sell for at Nook’s Cranny.
Compared to the big changes coming to your island’s fish and bug rosters in June, the depths of the ocean are relatively quiet this month: the Chambered Nautilus, Firefly Squid, and Lobster are the only forthcoming departures.
In terms of arrivals, there’s a few more familiar critters returning to the scene. For the first time in a while you can pick up Sea Grapes, Tiger Prawns, Mussels, Gazami Crabs, and Abalones during your freediving adventures. For anyone who’s been playing since the big sea swimming update last July, it surely feels like summer is on the cusp of returning now that your pockets are absolutely filled with sea grapes once again.
Heres How To Catch Fast Sea Creatures In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The first thing you should know is what the fast sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons actually are. If you come across an underwater shadow that is moving particularly quickly, its probably either a giant isopod or a giant clam. You definitely dont want to simply skip trying to capture these creatures, because theyre worth a pretty penny the giant isopod sells for 12,000 bells, and the giant clam for 15,000.
For most underwater creatures, you can just swim up to the area where you see bubbles, and hit Y to dive down, automatically capturing them. Sometimes you may need to swim around a bit to catch them, but thats easily done. However, the giant isopod and giant clam tend to take off like a rocket as soon as you dive down, making them virtually impossible to catch unless you use this easy trick.
Once youve established that youve found one of these fast sea creatures, youre going to want to head to the surface of the water. Then, use your directional stick to drift over to the shadow. Do not press A to actively swim toward them. If you do, theyll just keep swimming away. By only drifting, you should be able to get right on top of the sea creature, then hit Y to dive. Assuming youve done a good job aiming your dive, you should come back up with your isopod or clam.
