Mystery Island Tours will require you to give a Nook Miles Ticket to Orville. You can get these from the Nook Stop terminal for 2,000 Miles.
How To Catch A Scorpion
Requires: 1x net, shovel
Catching a scorpion in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is pretty much the same as catching a tarantula. Both creatures are hostile when provoked, which means running too close to them or approaching with your net. Scorpions will enter into a defensive position when they see you and may give chase if you aren’t careful. There are a few ways to approach catching them, which we’ve outlined below.
How To Catch A Scorpion With Just A Net
This first method only requires a net. When you see a scorpion, equip your net and slowly approach the bug with your net raised. When the scorpion goes into a defensive position, stop in your tracks and wait. Eventually it will go back to normal and begin moving once more, this is when you can move a few more steps forward and close the gap. The scorpion will continue to go into a defensive position when it notices you, but if you keep pausing and moving only when it isnt being defensive, eventually youll be within net range.
How To Prepare A Mystery Island For Tarantulas
First thing’s first – you’re going to need to make sure you have the right tools for the job, and as much spare inventory as you can afford. Be sure to use Nook Miles to purchase both Inventory Expansions from the terminal if you have the miles to spare. Speaking of miles, it will also cost 2,000 Miles per Nook Miles Ticket to travel to a Mystery Island, and unfortunately you can’t guarantee the island you visit is spider material, so be warned – you’re probably going to need to spend a few days amassing Nook Miles to make this work.
For your trip, remember to bring the following:
Spiders and Scorpions only appear from 7pm to 4am, with Tarantulas appearing in the colder months, and Scorpions in the hotter months, so your island trips should only be done at night.
Once you arrive at your random Mystery Island, you need to check what kind of island you’ve found – as they appear to use many different templates, and not all are equal. Ideally, the best island you can get is a flat one with minimal or no rivers, and no elevation.
However, in order for this to work, your island MUST support bug life. This means that you need to make sure bugs are already appearing on the island – whether they are beetles in flowers, moths on trees, or roaches on the rocks. If you aren’t seeing any, that likely means the island doesn’t support fauna, and you’re going to need to try a different island.
How To Catch A Scorpion In Animal Crossing: New Horizon
It is all about understanding the pattern when it comes to catching a scorpion in Animal Crossing. You cant approach a scorpion hastily and expect it to catch. You might actually end up being stung by one and then immediately end up in your residence on the island.
So there are two basic ways to catch a scorpion. You will need a net to catch the scorpion in both the cases, so remember to choose and pick up your net and hold the A button to creep up to the scorpion. Once you get close to it, it will be alert and will raise its guard to warn you. If you continue to move towards it, then it will just chase you and try to attack. Now instead of running away from the scorpion here, you can just release the A button and use your net to get it. You need to make sure that you are at a proper distance from the scorpion when you are swinging the net. The problem with this method is that you might end up being a bit too late or a bit too quick, and the scorpion will get to you and sting you inevitably. If you get stung by the scorpion, you will immediately end up in your residence, and you will lose out on catching it.

How To Find Tarantula Island
The mystery islands you access through the game’s Nook Miles Tickets are entirely random, but one of them is known as Tarantula Island. This island has a massive selection of the six-legged beasts for you to collect assuming they don’t bite you first, of course.
However, while this island appears randomly, it is possible to create your very own Tarantula Island…
How To Find And Catch New Horizons Scorpions
Scorpions are boring little beasts. Twitch videos and clips of little demons exist proving how irritating they are. Miss your swing, and they will hunt you down. Like the other spooky crawlies in the game, they’re an arachnophobe’s worst nightmare. All those legs and tail with a poisoned stinger at the end is enough to cause nightmares. Since they are hostile, it makes the situation worse.
Scorpions spawn at night from 18 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time. They start in the spring and increase throughout the summer. You can find them between April and September.
Scorpions appear at night, although they seem rare. To catch one you will have to wait until nightfall. Or change the time of day on your Switch to spend the night if you really like collecting bugs. Once you’ve spawned, you’ll need to sneak up on it and swing the net. Congratulations! You now have a large scorpion to give to the Blathers.
Scorpios are aggressive. If you miss, they will chase you and sting you. If you get stung you will pass out and wake up in your tent or house. Good luck and aim well.

How To Catch A Scorpion With A Shovel And Net
This method is much easier, as long as you have a good layout of your island in your head. Find a spot that you know how to get to, and dig four holes around you, leaving only one path into the area with these holes. Because youre a human, you can jump over those holes, but a scorpion cant. Now you need to find a scorpion, get it to chase you, and run to those holes. Run into the centre, and jump over a hole to escape. The scorpion will be trapped, but still within netting range.
Scorpions are the trickiest bug to catch in May. If you dont manage to get one this month, dont worry. In the northern hemisphere they spawn from May to October, and then theyll spawn in the southern hemisphere from November to April.
There are rumours of a glitched way to catch a scorpion. Some say that if you dig up a fossil while being chased it will pause the scorpion and cause it to be easier to catch, but this sounds like something that will be patched out very quickly if true.
Scorpions are great for being sold for a lot of Bells. If you manage to find Flick, a potential visitor, then hell buy them for 150 percent the usual price. Let us know if youve managed to get one in the comments.
Head To A Mystery Island
Prior to leaving for a mystery island, you will need to prepare. Check out the list below for the things to do before you head to the airport.
- Empty your inventoryof everything besides your shovel, net, and axe.
- Make sure your shovel and net are still durable .
- Stock up on Nook Miles Tickets to visit a few different islands.
Making a DIY scorpion island requires space in your inventory and sturdy tools. If you can’t make any extra shovels or nets though, it’s okay. Every mystery island has palm trees on the beach. Chopping them down will get you enough materials to build a flimsy shovel and net, plus you can purchase some tools from Wilbur.
After you are prepared, head to the airport and visit a mystery island!

Go On A Mystery Island Tour
Scorpions spawn between 7 PM and 4 AM. During this time, players should go on a Mystery Island Tour as theres a chance that they could be on an island that spawns scorpions endlessly. Even if they dont get to an island in such conditions, they can still farm it with the right trick.
Players should eye and island thats flat. These are the ones with bamboo usually. They should then pick up all flowers, chop down all trees and their stumps, and pluck all the weeds. This makes it more likely for scorpions to spawn.

Everything you must know about when scorpions spawn in Animal Crossing New Horizons and how to catch them.
Animal Crossing New Horizons has just entered May meaning a bunch of fish and bugs are leaving the Northern and Southern hemisphere with new ones replacing them. One of the new critters for the North is the scorpion in place of the tarantula, and here youll discover everything you need to know about when does it spawn and how to catch.
As previously mentioned, the tarantula has said adieu to the Northern hemisphere in Animal Crossing New Horizons. While this might not be all that upsetting to those who are afraid of the creepy eight-legged bugger, those who miss their presence can always get them back by either time travelling to a couple of days ago or into the future.
However, while tarantulas have been and gone, you can now catch scorpions in their stead. Below youll find out when they spawn and how to catch them.

How To Catch A Scorpion In Animal Crossing New Horizons
You can catch a scorpion in Animal Crossing New Horizons by grabbing it with the standard bug net before it stings you and knocks you unconscious. Scorpions also only spawn at certain times and dates, shown below:
- Scorpions only appear between May and October and November to April .
- They only appear during night, between the hours of 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM. There is no way to make them spawn during the day.
- Scorpions can appear on your island or on Mystery Islands. They tend to move about randomly until a player gets too close, whereupon they will freeze, then charge the player attempting to sting them, similar to tarantulas .
- Scorpions also do not spawn while you have other players on your island.
- To catch one, approach it with net drawn until it freezes. Hold down A to move in slowly, because at this point the scorpion will charge at you if you move any faster or miss with the net swing. Get as close as you can, then swipe at it when you feel assured you’ll get it.
- If stung, the player will pass out and respawn at their house or at the Dodo plane, depending on their location. The scorpion will have vanished by this point.
- Scorpions are very rare, even when it’s their time to spawn. It may take you a while to find one.

Finding and catching insects are staple mechanics in Animal Crossing games. New Horizons takes that to the next level with insects and arachnids that actively bring the fight to you. If you want to catch them, youre going to need to step up your game. Several insects in the game are more hostile than in previous iterations, bringing some interesting dangers to life on these deserted islands.
Wasps, scorpions, and tarantulas will all follow you, sting you, or bite you. In the case of scorpions and tarantulas, their stings will cause your character to faint and you will reawaken in your tent. However, in an effort to fill that museum, youre going to need to catch them.

How To Catch Scorpions In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If youre in the Northern Hemisphere, you can say goodbye to tarantulas for the next six month. There can only be one dangerous predator in the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the two just switched hemispheres at the start of May. Tarantulas have gone down to the southern hemisphere, and scorpions have made their way up north. Im not sure they really fall under the category of bugs, but this is a game that lumps frogs in under fish, so sure, whatever. Its a big new prize that you want to add to your museum, so heres how to catch one.
The rules here are basically the same as tarantulas, so you can really just sort of think of this as a tarantula re-skin. Still, you might need some pointers on how to proceed. For starters, scorpions show up at night. So start looking between 7:00 PM and 4:00 AM when you dont have any guests on the island.
Scorpions spawn on the ground, so finding one might be harder if youre living on a more built-out island. Try going on a mystery tour: if youre lucky, you might get an entire island infested with them, or you might just find a few more than you would on your home island. If you want to raise your odds, clear the island of as many trees, flowers and rocks as possible, like with tarantulas.
Scorpions Price In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Scorpions may be difficult to catch, but, like Tarantulas, they are definitely worth the hassle.
The selling price of a Scorpion in New Horizons is 8,000 Bells, which means that an inventory worth of Scorpions will net you a good amount of Bells.
Though you may rarely encounter a Scorpion on your island, out there, amongst the waves, there is an island full of Scorpions, which you might visit on a Mystery Island tour. If you don’t, then you can always force Scorpions to spawn in special circumstances.

How To Catch A Tarantula
To catch a Tarantula, you need to be aware. Don’t run around the island with your net at the ready as you’ll often find that the tarantula spots you before you have a chance to react. If you want to find them without running the risk of getting attacked, put your net away they will not attack if you’re not holding a net.
The moment one spots you with your net, it will turn towards you and raise its legs before dashing towards you. If you don’t time the swing of your net just right, it will hit you and stun you, knocking you out in the same way a wasp sting does.
To successfully catch one, approach it slowly with your net held up and wait for it to raise its legs in the attack position. When it does this, stop the Tarantula will return to its normal pose and you can creep up on it again.
If the worst comes to the worst and the tarantula runs at you, you can if you’re quick enough – run in the opposite direction, put a bit of space between you, and then quickly turn around and swing your net. It’s tricky to do, but it is possible.
Another tactic is to dig a series of holes but leave a space in the middle. When you spot a tarantula, jump over the hole and the tarantula won’t be able to get you you can then grab it with a swing of your net.
