Removing Trees In Animal Crossing
As long as you have a shovel, you will be able to remove trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Firstly, open up your inventory by pressing X and eat some Fruit. This can be the fruit that you find on the Trees on your island. If you dont have any, just shake some trees or hit them with an axe.
When you eat Fruit, your character will be more powerful, being able to do things they normally couldnt. Equip your shovel and walk towards the tree you want to remove, make sure that youre standing next to it. Press the A button on your Nintendo Switch.
Your character will remove the tree with their shovel. The tree will be placed inside your inventory, allowing you to place it down somewhere else. You can repeat this process as many times as you need, as long as you consume the fruit to do so.

Stop sniggering at the back! Ahem. Just as in real life, wood comes from trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Rather unlike real life, trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons produce an unending supply of all three types of wood. You get it by hitting the tree with an axe.
HOWEVER, they’ll only be able to withstand two hits from a proper axe before the next strike chops the tree down. Keep this in mind unless you want to accidentally chop down a prized fruit tree.
Ironically, you’re much better off if you use a Flimsy or Stone axe to gather wood – you are able to get three lots of wood from every tree plus those axes aren’t strong enough to cut trees down regardless of how many times you swing at it.
The only downside is that the flimsy axe lives up to its name and will soon disintegrate through use – you’ll have to craft several if you want to harvest wood from every tree on your island, or upgrade to the Stone axe for better durability .

How To Chop Down Trees In Animal Crossing
To chop down trees in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, follow these steps:
Equip yourself with your axe.
You can’t use a basic, Flimsy Axe to cut down trees. It’s not strong enough. You need either a Stone Axe, Axe, or Golden Axe.
Position yourself facing the tree you want to chop down.
Hit the tree three times with your axe .
After the third hit, the tree will fall over and disappear, leaving behind a stump. If you leave a stump, it will always stay a stumpthe tree will never grow back.
One nice thing in Animal Crossing, unlike some other games, is that there’s no stamina for your character. You can chop down as many trees as you like. However, your axe will eventually wear out and break.
- Flimsy Axe: Breaks after 40 uses
- Stone Axe: Breaks after 100 uses
- Axe: Breaks after 100 uses
- Golden Axe: Breaks after 200 uses.

After a 5 to 6 days have passed, the money tree will be fully grown and have 3 bags of Bells ready for harvesting. Every bag from the money tree will contain the same amount that was originally planted in the hole, so players will earn 3 times their initial investment. - To get the fruit hanging from the tree. You do this by hitting the tree with your axe a few times, but you don’t need to chop down the tree.
- To get bundles of wood from the tree. Each time you hit the tree with your axe, another pile of wood will appear, up to a total of three. You might get the same type of wood or different kinds.
- To leave a stump. Stumps are fun to sit on, and some bugs only land on stumps, making them easy to catch.
- To clear space. When you chop down a tree and remove its stump, you can plant flowers, place objects, or even build houses where the tree used to be.

One of the most basic crafting materials in New Horizons is the tree branch. These can be found laying under trees randomly or by shaking them. There is no limit to how many branches can be harvested from a single tree, so keep shakin.
The other primary resource that can be harvested from trees is wood. There are three types of wood, and up to three pieces can be taken from a single tree at a time by chopping at it with an Axe. While a tree will be cut down if you hit it too many times with a regular Axe, a Flimsy Axe can be used to collect tree resources without knocking it down in the process.
The final resource that can be gotten by shaking a tree is a Wasp Nest. Be careful because wasps will sting you. But after they leave, you can harvest their nests to make medicine and special items.
