If you don’t want to get fancy about diving, you need only press “A” as you approach the water from the shore, and your character will wade in, provided you’re wearing a wetsuit. If you’re at the dock or on some elevated rocks, however, your character will do a little jump and enter the water butt-first, kind of like a cannonball, though not quite as forceful.;

You can also jump from the landing outside your airport. There is no way to dive from the shore, just as there wouldn’t be on a real beach, since the waters immediately surrounding the island are too shallow there.;

What few players know is that you can also dive in from a first-tier cliff if it overlooks the ocean. Some second-tier cliffs will allow you to do death-drops from way up high, but they have to be very close to the edge of the water. While this butt-first dive is pretty fun, you can kick it up a notch by adding a front flip to your dive.

How To Perform A Frontflip

For performing a front flip, you have to run and press A while holding the B. If you press A one time you will swim a short distance. If you hold A, you will continue to swim at a normal speed.

For swimming, at a higher speed, you have to press A repeatedly. Use the A key to swim and the left analog stick to change the direction. While in the water, dive by using the Y key.

Diving will allow you to discover and collect various new Sea creatures which can then be sold at Nooks Cranny or donated to the museum. The great thing about diving is that you wont need any other tools to catch these creatures!

While swimming around, look out for bubbles floating from beneath. This is a sign that a creature is nearby.

Dive at these spots to capture the creatures. You can also find some new types of vegetation by diving.

Swimming and Diving will also unlock some new DIY recipes. You will encounter Pascal during your swim you will share new recipes with you if you are willing to exchange some certain sea creatures.

Yes! While the game launched in March 2020 with no method to enter the ocean , the first of two summer updates landed on 3rd July 2020 and it brought the ability to swim, dive and collect 40 new sea creatures from the ocean floor. These new additions to your Critterpedia have their own page and can also be donated to Blathers at the Museum.

In order to enter the water you’ll need to purchase a wetsuit from Timmy and Tommy for 3000 Bells . While wearing the wetsuit you can run and jump into the coastal waters surrounding your island. Scallop-loving Pascal also returns and he will give you DIY recipes for a mermaid-themed furniture set.

Much the same as the specialised fishing rods, bug nets and other equipment they sell, there are different wetsuit designs available every day:

Use The Edges Of The Ocean

The ocean isn’t completely endless in Animal Crossing. Sadly, and most likely to prevent the player from getting lost, swept away, or eaten by aggressive sea monsters, there’s netting around the perimeter of the island waters.

This netting can actually be used as an advantage when trying to catch particularly fast-moving sea creatures. The critter can be chased;towards the netting to make sure it has fewer escape routes.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been steadily adding updates since release, with new NPCs and contests arriving in the last few months. The game has also been keeping things fresh by adding a rotating variety of new bugs and fish.

Who Is Pascal On ‘animal Crossing’

If you happen to pry up a scallop, you will encounter a new character in the game, an otter named Pascal who loves scallops and will give you gifts and DIY recipes in exchange for one scallop per day. Most of the items Pascal gives you are mermaid-themed, such as DIY recipes to make mermaid furniture and outfits such as the mermaid fishy costume.

Pascal’s recipes seem to require some combination of shells from the shore and pearls. This new DIY ingredient, like gold nuggets, is fairly rare, but you can find them either while diving for sea creatures or, occasionally, Pascal might offer a pearl in exchange for a scallop. If you somehow find yourself with an excess of pearls, you can also sell them at Nook’s Cranny for 10,000 bells.

Unfortunately, you can’t pry them from the pearl oysters that are also found through diving. All pearls are dug up on their own or given as a gift by Pascal.

Pay Attention To Shadows

There isn’t much to go off of when catching a sea creature. The bubbles will usually show their initial location, but if they’re fast-moving this can change in a blink of an eye. Another indicator of what the creature might be is its shadow size.

There are roughly three different shadow sizes: small, medium, and large.;It can give a rough idea of what the creature might be, and help the player prioritize the right target.

Where To Get A Wet Suit

To go swimming and diving in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, youre going to need to have a swim suit. You can quite simply buy these from the cabinet in Nooks Cranny, or by redeeming Nook Miles at the terminal in the Resident Services Building.

A swim suit from Nooks Cranny costs 3000 Bells, while its just 800 Miles from the terminal .

In order to actually go swimming, you need to put the swim suit on by selecting it in your inventory. Note, this weirdly just goes over the top of your other clothes, and youll still be wearing socks, shoes, hats and headwear as well. If you want to look the part, youll have to take all those off manually.

Sea Creatures can be found in the ocean, though youll need to dive down to find them. Each type can be found throughout the ocean, whether thats close to the shore or a little further away. Its worth noting that some creatures will try to speed away from you a little faster than others, with faster critters usually being the rare types.

Pearls that can be used in Mermaid DIY recipes can also be found by diving so hold on to those when you find them.

After that, you can head to a pier or the rocks near the ocean and press A to jump in. You can also walk in off the beach, though running and jumping off rocks or the pier is much more satisfying. Keep pressing A to swim around and press Y to dive if you see a shadow or some bubbles coming out of the water. Press A when youre near the shadow to catch the critter.

How To Swim In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

After you’ve brought a wetsuit it’s time to explore the sea surrounding your island in New Horizons.

First, however, you need to put your wetsuit on, which is done exactly like how you change into every other clothing item. Simply find it in your inventory, select it and then choose the option – ‘Wear.’

There are other swimming themed clothing, such as the scuba mask, which you can wear while swimming. These items, however, won’t have an impact on your swimming or diving abilities.

Now that you’re all suited up, it’s time to head to the shore and get into the water.

You can either simply walk into the waves or dive bomb from one of the stony platforms dotted around your island by pressing A.

To swim you need to press A and then use the left analogue stick to decide which direction you wish to go in; simply decide which direction you want to go in and head that way.

What Sea Creatures Are In ‘acnh’

There are a total of 40 sea creatures to find, and as of July, only 24 of them are in season in the Northern Hemisphere. The remaining 16 will come available throughout the year. Some of the sea creatures, such as seaweed and sea anemone, are fairly stationary, whereas some will give you chase often to the point of frustration.

The fastest creatures so far in the Northern Hemisphere appear to be the gigas giant clam, vampire squid, and giant isopod. Here is a detailed list of the sea creatures available in the north as of July 2020 including their availability, size, and speed.

Press Y While Swimming

Once in the water, press Y to dive underwater. Diving can be performed while stationary in the water or mid-swim.

Press Y to resurface

While underwater, press Y to manually go back up to the surface.

You can only stay underwater for about 10 seconds

Based on our tests, you only have about 10 seconds underwater before you automatically resurface for air. You’ll see a big air bubble rise from your spot, right before this happens.

Wet suits can be purchased from Nooks Cranny via the cabinet where you typically buy tools and flower seeds. Theyll cost you 3,000 Bells and come in a variety of colors like red, blue, and yellow. Upon purchase of your first wet suit, Timmy and Tommy will walk you through how to dive and nab yourself the new undersea invertebrates.

You can also purchase a Nook Inc.-branded wet suit via the Nook Stop terminal. Just head to Redeem Nook Miles and find it in either the Everything or Novelties tab. It costs;800 Nook Miles;to purchase.

Each day, youll also receive a wet suit design in Nook Shoppings Special Goods catalog! Just open up Nook Shopping from the app or the Nook Stop terminal, hit Special Goods, and find it in the Daily Selection tab near the bottom. These wet suits cost 3,000 Bells.

Where To Unlock Swimming And Diving

After youve updated the game, launch Animal Crossing: New Horizons;and leave your house. Check your mailbox to receive a special letter from Nintendo that contains a Snorkel. The Nook Shop has also sent you a letter to notify you of new Novelty stock itemslike the Wetsuit! A Striped Wetsuit can also be purchased from Timmy and Tommy for 3,000 Bells.

In order to begin your deep-diving adventure, you must first purchase a Wetsuit from Nooks Cranny or the Nook Shopping kiosk. You can also purchase items on the Nook Shopping app.

If you prefer to purchase a different option, the Nook Inc. Snorkel can be redeemed for 500 Nook Miles Tickets, and the Nook Inc. Wetsuit can be redeemed for 800 Nook Miles Tickets. If you place an order for the Nook Inc. Novelty items, they will be mailed to you the very next day you sign-in to the game.

Timmy will give you a small tutorial on how to use your new Wetsuitto swim around, rapidly press A on your joy-con controller, and if you see a shadow or bubbles in the water, press Y to dive and bring the item back up to the surface.
