In Animal Crossing, paintings can now be donated to the museum, where they are added to an art exhibit. They can be obtained from either Tom Nook’s store or Crazy Redd’s Furniture Emporium. The Japanese version features four paintings that do not appear in international versions: the Lovely Painting, Healing Painting, Fine Painting, and Pleasant Feeling Painting. Additionally, the Dreadful Painting and Novel Painting from Doubutsu no Mori can be obtained exclusively via the Data Moving Service, though they cannot be donated to the museum. In international releases, the four aforementioned paintings are replaced with the Basic Painting, Scary Painting, Quaint Painting, and Classic Painting respectively, and the two paintings from Doubutsu no Mori are removed altogether. In Doubutsu no Mori e+, paintings are identical to international versions of Animal Crossing.
What Does Redd Sell On His Boat
Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler is home to works of artand rare furniture. Redd is happy to sell you any amount of furniture , although you’re restricted to purchasing one piece of art for every day that he visits.
Players of previous games will know that there’s a chance the art he sells you will be a forgery, and the poor lighting on his boat doesn’t make spotting fakes easy.
Still, if you know what to look for, it’s easy enough to avoid buying fake works of art from Crazy Redd. You’ll get Nook Miles for buying a fake, so it’s worth buying at least one wrong ‘un.

Museum Expansions In Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Where To Get A Piece Of Art
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you update your game and go talk to Blathers today, hell have some news for you. The museum, he says, is expanding, and now hes going to be able to display art, adding a fourth category to your collectibles. If you find yourself in possession of a piece of art, he says, bring it on over. The only problem is you might not have any idea how to get said art.
Art is an old mechanic for the series, but its new for New Horizons as of the Earth Day update today. Its tied to Redd, a new, apparently mafia-connected, visitor that will now occasionally visit your island in a trawler on the North side. Note that like garden shop-owner Leif, Redd is a random visitor. So even though the new feature went live today, you might not be able to get Leif or Redd on the first day. Im stuck with Label, who wants me to dress sporty. I do not want to dress sporty, Label.
Redd is a shady character, and youre not supposed to ask where he got this art. Heres the inside of his ship:

Where To Find Sharks In Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Do you own Animal Crossing: New Leaf? Did you see a shark yet? If you did not, dont worry there are sharks. The games official trailer also showed one off if I recall correctly. Theyre rarely seen in the game, sort of. Or, I should say that they are more difficult to find than a regular ol fish. If you really need to find a shark in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, keep reading.
Where To Find Sharks in Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Sharks normally lurk in the ocean during gameplay. To tell if a shark is in the water, you will notice a fin moving around, above the water. Ive also seen a large fish with a shark-looking fin in the water, so there is no guarantee that the one youre looking at will be a shark. You just have to catch it to find out.
Below are locations where sharks are commonly found :
Night Time or Afternoon at the Sea
I tend to see more sharks during the afternoon or at night. Im not sure why, and I dont know if it will be the same for your game, however, this is just something that I have noticed when playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
If you have already unlocked the Island, thats good news. Every once in a while a shark appears day or night. Keep making the rounds and you will eventually run into one.
I found about 10 sharks in less than 30 minutes after following the steps above. Im not saying that I caught all. Heck, most of them got away. Some may not have even been sharks a couple might have been large fishes with shark-looking fins.

How To Get The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Art Gallery
When Redd first appears on your island, head over to meet him at the plaza and he’ll offer you a painting. I had the ‘common painting’ and initially he asks for a lot of money to part with it. Say no, and he’ll offer it to you for a fraction of that price.
Buy it, and then take your newly purchased piece of art over to Blathers at the Animal Crossing: New Horizons museum. There will appear a new dialogue prompt that reads ‘I found a piece of art!’. Choose that, and you’ll get the option to donate your artwork to the museum. Thankfully, this one isn’t a forgery.
This will prompt Blathers to apply for a museum expansion permit, and you’ll get the art gallery wing added after two calendar days. The immediate day after the museum will be closed for renovations, and then the day after that you’ll get the art gallery expansion.

How To Catch A Shark In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
So, you want to catch a shark in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Well, youre going to need a ton of hours to kill, along with a bunch of luck. Sharks are rare for a reason they sell for a whole ton and as such, theyre correspondingly difficult to get a hold of. Depending on which hemisphere your deserted island is in, its going to be more or less difficult for you to get a shark. Weve listed Shark Seasons for the different hemispheres below, and currently, if youre in the Northern hemisphere youre out of luck if youre not a time traveler:
- Southern hemisphere December to March
- Northern hemisphere June to September
If you want to catch particular sharks, weve got how much they sell for at Nooks Cranny and also when during the day youll be able to find them. As theyre sharks, theyre always caught off the beach as they are sea-dwelling creatures, though you might end up lucking out and using your Nook Miles to head to an island with a bunch of sharks in the sea. Who knows!

Don’t Miss: How To Save In Animal Crossing New Leaf
Sell Me My Dream Glitch
When a Jock villager asks the player to sell them their dream, the player will tell them to name their price. The price they set will be lower than what they actually pay. They never mention that they’re being generous, so it’s safe to assume that this is actually an item price percentage glitch in the game.
How Many Real / Fake Items Does Redd Sell
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf only one in four of the items Redd sold was the real McCoy. However, in New Horizons the ratio swings from just one fake to nothing but fakes. Once again, did some digging and discovered the following percentage chances:
|10%||4 fake / 0 real|
Ninji also discovered that for each genuine item Redd is selling, there’s a 20% chance that it’s not already part of your museum collection.
Assuming that data is correct, it seems that finding only genuine artworks is impossible. That would be nice, wouldn’t it?

How Do You Unlock Redd
Assuming you have the game updated to at least version 1.2.0 , follow the steps below to unlock the expanded museum, find Redd and get your hands on his priceless artwork.
Note. The following steps take place over several days, so be prepared to wait it out. Assuming you don’t engage in any time travel-related shenanigans, that is…
Where Do I Find Redd
Youll need to talk to Blathers and have him mention the idea of allowing art before Redd will show up. According to a data mine by Ninji, this will happen once you submit at least 60 donations to the museum . The day after Blathers talks about art, Isabelle will warn you of shady art dealers during her morning announcements. Youll then be able to find Redd roaming your island.
Upon talking to him, hell offer you a random painting for a for a whopping 498,000 Bells. After declining, hell give you a discount to 4,980 Bells. This art piece will be genuine.
Donate the first piece of art to Blathers, and hell talk about opening an art exhibit. The next day, the museum will be closed for renovations. Another day later, the museum will open with an art exhibit and Redd will start appearing on your island on random days.
Redd shows up on a boat at your islands tiny beach in the north of your island. The beach is all the way on the back of your island, and if you havent terraformed back there, youll likely need a ladder to reach it.
Redds boat will appear on random days, similar to other island merchants like Kicks and Flick. Were unsure if Redds boat has any unlocking prerequisites .
New Fish And Bugs Should Go Straight To The Museum
When you catch a fish or a bug for the first time, you should take it to the museum instead of selling it or giving it away. There are numerous rare fish in New Leaf that are difficult to catch, and you might not get lucky twice.
When you catch a critter for the first time, your avatar will say I wonder what my encyclopedia says about my new catch?

What Do I Do With The Art
The art can be donated to the Museum, provided that its genuine. It can also be used as a normal furniture item to be displayed in your home. If its a statue, it can also be placed anywhere on the island.
If you buy a fake, not even Timmy and Tommy will want to buy it. Youll have to dispose of it using a Trash Can furnishing item if you dont want it anymore. Or you can just display it and fool your uncultured friends.
Your Conversation With Rover The Cat Determines Your Avatars Look
For a game thats supposed to be all about you,Animal Crossing: New Leaf offers little in avatar customization options, especially early in the experience. When you start the game, you have a conversation on the train with a cat named Rover, and the answers you provide to Rovers questions determine your avatars gender, eye shape, hairstyle, and hair color.
While you cant change your avatars eye shape, you can change his or her hair color and style once you unlock the Shampoodle hair salon.
