There are several ways to gain new fruits in the game, including visiting friends, travelling to Mystery Islands or receiving them as surprise gifts.
In your first few days of playing, youll likely receive a basket of one foreign fruit.
While you can cash them in immediately for 500 bells , the better option is to plant these fruits once you acquire a shovel. You dont need to water them, and after four to six days, these planted trees will flower with their own fruit.
Having five to ten foreign trees on your island can be a massive cash grab when it comes time to harvest them. Each tree can grow three fruit at a time, meaning a bounty of 1,500 bells every four to six days per foreign tree planted.
Can You Get Perfect Fruit In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons perfect fruit feels like a bit of a myth right now. In New Leaf, you had a high chance of getting a perfect fruit version of your native fruit growing on a single tree. While many bugs can be found flying around town, sitting on a rock, or hiding in the flowers, there are some species that can only be discovered on or in trees.

Bugs like the Walking Stick and Saw Stag are known to cling to the trunks of trees. Others like spiders and bagworms fall from a shaken tree. Finally, species like the Jewel Beetle and Violin Beetle are found exclusively on tree stumps.
Collecting More Fruit And Bamboo
Everyone starts Animal Crossing: New Horizons with one native fruit. Accessing other fruit can be difficult.
You can visit other players islands online to take some of their fruit or you can try your luck with the Nook Miles Ticket islands. Based on our testing, it was fairly rare to see these islands carry something other than your native fruit. We only saw one other fruit type , but we have seen that same non-native fruit multiple times.
You can also find bamboo this way and use the fruit method to bring back tons for your island.

How To Move Trees
Theres two ways of getting fruit trees to exist wherever you want in Animal Crossing: New Horizons: You can take the fruit from any tree and plant it, or you can move existing fruit-bearing trees.
Planting new trees with fruits is pretty easy, but you may want to move the existing fruit-bearing trees you have on your island. To do so, you only need two things: some fruit to eat and any shovel.
Whenever you eat a piece of fruit, youll notice a counter with numbers appear on the top left of your screen. Each of those numbers represents a one-time action that you can perform, like breaking rocks with your shovel or more importantly, digging up whole trees while leaving them intact.
If you use your shovel on a fruit-bearing tree while you have at least one fruit buff, youll dig up the whole tree without damaging it. After its in your pocket, you can replant the tree wherever you like.
In your pocket, you can even tell which full, fruit-bearing tree is in your inventory by looking at it or hovering your cursor over it. In the image above, you can clearly see the difference between a plain tree and a pear tree.
When you have a tree in your pocket, you can dig a whole in the ground, open your inventory, choose the tree you want to plant, and choose the option to plant it.

Youll need an axe and a fruit if you want to smash rocks in this game. Any fruit that blooms on your island is yours to pluck. Once you acquire these two things, you must proceed as follows:
- First, you must consume fruit following that, a new symbol will emerge in the upper left corner of your screen. It will indicate that you have eaten a tenth of an apple.
- You must now approach the rock you want to shatter. After that, just hit A.
- The rock will then shatter, and your gruit meter will reset to 0.
You should not be concerned if you have inadvertently shattered a rock and are concerned about it. After a few days, the rocks will respawn on your island.

Energy Fruit Buff In Animal Crossing New Horizons
To remove the Energy Fruit Buff fruit buff you get for eating fruit in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you have to use your shovel to dig up an entire tree. This will spend one fruit buff. Then, replant the tree right back into the same hole by selecting it from your inventory. Then, dig it up once again, and replant it once more. Repeat the process as many times as necessary until all your fruit buffs are gone. Its a bit of a nuisance, to be sure, but it only takes a few seconds. Much better than having to wait around for the buff to go away.
Now, why would you want to get rid of the fruit buff? Well, as weve mentioned, the fruit buffs make you much stronger. That has its bonuses, but also some drawbacks. Namely, when youre buffed, youll break rocks much faster. This can lead to you getting less useful stuff, such as Iron and Gold Nuggets. So, if this is happening to you, now you know what you have to do to get rid of it dig up trees and replant them into the same hole.

If someone is advertising their Dodo code because turnips are at 400 bells on their island and you just hop on over and start picking their fruit when fruit was never mentioned, that’s rude and a quick way to make enemies with this game.

A lot of these communities will charge a fee and even when no fee is charged, it’s considered rude to go there without leaving a tip, so do your research about what tip is appropriate and be aware of the etiquette!

Issue : Its Missing Some Sort Of Story
The one unanimous point that the iMore staff agreed upon regarding issues in New Horizons was that it lacked a story. Its one of the main reasons plenty of us just stopped playing. There just isnt one! You arrive on an island, you fix it, you terraform it, and then you pay Tom Nook back. Thats the end! Sure, its fun finding all of the possible villagers, but its impossible to build a story around them. Plus, what happens once you have them? Do you keep them prisoner or let them leave?
If there is any extra information about NPCs, it doesnt have much of an impact. Even the picture quest seems to fall flat since its pretty much based on how many times you talk to them and give them gifts. Everything about this trip to a deserted island just seems hollow.
How others do it
Both Stardew Valley and Cozy Grove have a similar structure to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but the big difference is that its not just about building a tropical island. The other games actually have a story, and having a narrative is a great way to keep players engaged. Even if the gameplay is the same, the story is what will bring players back. In Stardew Valley, its even possible to marry townspeople and have a family, and thats just one possibility.

Changing The Island’s Native Fruit
As previously mentioned, there’s no actual in-game method to change an island’s native fruit. The only in-game alternative is to plant new fruit which can be found through different methods, such as on deserted islands or through other players’ islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ multiplayer. But, unfortunately, that is unrealistic for many players this early on in the game unless they choose to time travel. However, there is still a way for players to change their island’s fruit from the very start.
Many players have been resetting Animal Crossing: New Horizons from the beginning in order to get their ideal island. In the same vein, if a player wants to change their native fruit in Animal Crossing they’ll have to start over. Since the native fruit is tied to the island, the player can’t get a new native fruit without a new island. With a village’s native fruit being entirely random, there’s no telling how many times the player will need to reset their game before they get their ideal fruit.
As a warning, this isn’t a soft resetchoosing this option will not only delete the island, but also all of the players and their save data. In order to reset Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will have to exit the game and head to the home menu. From there, they must go into settings and select Data Management. Once in Data Management, the player can then select Delete Save Data, choose Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and then the game’s data should be completely erased.

Fruit trees are an essential mechanic in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that you want to become familiar with pretty quickly. You begin the game with some fruit on your starting island, but there are others you can grow.
Whenever you have a new or old fruit in your inventory, you have the option of selling it, eating it, planting it to make more trees on your island. Before you can grow one of these trees, you do need to have access to a shovel. You can obtain one from Blathers when they arrive at your islands to help host the museum. Once the museum opens up, he gives you the recipe, which you can freely use moving forward.
Now, find a location you want to plant your new fruit tree. Once you find your ideal location, take your shovel out and dig a hole. For the next step, go into your inventory and select the fruit you want to plant at that location. You want to continue holding the shovel for this part. With your shovel in hand, you will planet the fruit tree, and you need to water and take care of it to have it grow.
Growing things in Animal Crossing is a timely process, so you need to have a little patience through this process. Dont get too carried away because theres plenty of things to do on your island, but make sure to water it every so often so it will grow faster.
