Animal Crossing: 5 Ways To Get More Diy Recipes In New Horizons

How to Get More DIY Recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

While Animal Crossing players can purchase items from stores or NPCs, crafting is a huge part of the game. Each player’s Nookphone has an app for DIY recipes. This will show the player everything they can craft with the materials available. This can often be useful, as some items are better suited to being crafted rather than just being sold for bells.

Crafting can begin once Tom Nook invites the player to his first free workshop. The workbench inside Resident Services will allow players to craft and eventually have their own workbench for use outside of resident services. However, players need DIY crafting recipes to craft items. Here’s 5 ways to get more.

Pick Up Bottled Messages On The Beach

Every day, youll find one message bottle washed up on your islands shores. The bottle contains a DIY recipe sent out from a distant villager. Its an easy and fast way to get one new DIY recipe every day.

If youre itching for more recipes, youll also find bottles washed ashore when you embark on Mystery Island Tours.

Animal Crossing New Horizons: How To Store Diy Recipes In The Recycle Box

This trick is simply genius.

Crafting is a major feature in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, allowing you to collect a wide variety of DIY recipes for furniture and accessory items such as tables, chairs, flooring, and rugs.

While there are tons of different DIY recipes to collect, the longer you play the game, the more likely it is that youll come across duplicate recipes you dont need. These recipes can be sold for a few Bells at Nooks Cranny, but many players like keeping these recipes in order to give them to friends or trade them for something they do need.

Theres a big problem, however: You cant store DIY recipe cards in your in-home storage. As a result, many players have covered their floors and islands with extra recipes, which isnt ideal.

Recently, we spotted a clever trick on social media that was too good not to share: you can store your DIY recipes in the recycle box in the Resident Services building

To do this, youll need to place a table somewhere on your island, and then place as many DIY recipes on top of it as possible. From there, stand right next to the table, open up the Island Designer app on your NookPhone, and select Request cleanup.

Once you order a cleanup, the table and the DIY recipes will automatically be sent to the Recycle Box in the Resident Services building. You can then collect your table from the recycle box to repeat this process as many times as you need. You can see this full process in action in our gameplay video below.

Diy Recipes From Bottles

Once per day, a message in a bottle from a villager will wash up onto your beach. The bottle will contain a random message and an attached DIY recipe. The recipe is chosen at random and likely wont be seasonal items.;

A separate seasonal message in a bottle may appear on your island during events. These seasonal bottles will always contain a DIY recipe but you may get lots of repeats.;

How To Get Diy Crafting Recipes

Before we get started, be sure youre familiar with how to craft as a general concept. Now that thats out of the way, lets talk about the DIY recipes themselves. Theres a few ways to get new crafting recipes, but the main one youre likely to use is just gaining a single version of the item. Any time you get a new tool or piece of furniture the crafting recipe will be added to your menu. Open up your NookPhone and select the DIY Recipes app to see them all, or follow the guide linked above to actually build them.

Of course, theres more ways to get recipes though. This includes receiving them from other villagers, often as a reward for completing chores. Speak with all your neighbors whenever you can to get tasks from them then finish it and they may reward you with a crafting recipe. Theres also Nook Miles, see how to earn them here, which can be used to buy various DIY recipes for objects and tools. Check in often to see whats available.

And of course, you can always head over to Resident Services to take some classes. Speak with Tom Nook to enter a DIY Workshop where you can learn more about crafting and receive recipes for completing the course. The only other way currently know how to get crafting recipes is to find them randomly in the world, such as in bottles washed up on the shore. Otherwise weve shown you how to get DIY Crafting Recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so get out there and get crafting.

How Do You Get Diy Workbenches For Crafting

In order to craft any DIY recipes, the player must have access to a DIY workbench. From the beginning of the game, a workbench is provided at Resident Services, where users can craft as much as they would like, for free – thanks to the ever-benevolent Tom Nook.

However, an early game update from Nintendo also provided players with a recipe to craft their own Simple DIY Workbench via mail – requiring a measly five pieces of hardwood and one iron nugget. Building a personal workbench at Resident Services allows players early in the game to have their own source for crafting, which can be placed or carried around the island for easier access.

Luckily – for those who are as obsessed as we are with variety – there are many different types of workbenches that can be acquired throughout the game, often from random sources. Taking a peek inside villagers’ homes will provide previews of some of the various workbench designs up for grabs – you may even be lucky enough to acquire a desired workbench from a neighbor’s home by plying them with gifts of furniture that they may put in its place.

So far, these are the types of workbenches we’ve seen in New Horizons :

Animal Crossings Diy Recipes Are Making Me Furious

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

At this point, I know enough flower crown and wreath recipes. I can make like 10 different wreaths in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and yet my villagers, ever helpful, remain convinced that I should know how to make more. Sometimes, they take a break and teach me how to make something I learned from a recipe book I bought from Tim and Tommy at the beginning of the game, or maybe they want to show me how to put some boxes together to make a cardboard bed. I can make a complete set of cardboard box furniture now, and I am livid just knowing that. DIY recipes have become the worst part of this game to me, and my patience is wearing thin.

A primer: the endgame of New Horizons is amorphous, but it basically revolves around decorating your house and your island. You get items to do this one of two ways: by crafting them with a recipe given to you by a floating present, a message bottle or a villager, or by buying them from Nooks Cranny. The pools of two items are separate, and you will never be able to buy an item that you could otherwise craft.

How To Customize Items

After youve upgraded Resident Services from a tent to a building, Tom Nook will offer to give you a customization workshop. Speak to him, and hell give you 50 Customization Kits, which allow you to modify the appearance of items that have already been crafted.

To customize an item, approach a workbench, and select Customize something to pull up an alternate menu. Additional Customization Kits can be purchased at Nooks Cranny for 600 Bells each.

Note: Non-DIY recipe items cannot be customized. To see if an item is customizable, look for a paintbrush icon.

How to Maximise Your Daily DIY Recipes in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Before you even consider building a new piece of furniture, you need to track down its DIY recipe.

Though key recipes come from reliable sources and are staggered out to you as the island grows. For example, flimsy tools come from Nook when you begin donating fish or insects, Blathers will give you the Shovel as he needs help with Fossils, and the first message in a bottle you find will offer a mirror for character customisation.

However, for furniture and most other items, the list is randomised, so it’s a case of continuing to play the game. There are a number of ways to find a DIY recipe in New Horizons, however, which include:

  • In bottles that wash up on your island’s beach
  • In the presents you can shoot down from the sky
  • From your villagers, whether as gifts or when approaching them as they are crafting indoors
  • Purchased from Nook’s Cranny

Once you’ve found a DIY recipe, you’ll be able to find it in your inventory.

How To Stop Getting Duplicate Diy Recipes In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

DIY recipes have been a hallmark of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The recipes allow players to craft limited-time items, which serve as spectacular decorating items and can also be sold for a lucrative price.

DIY recipes in Animal Crossing are of different types. Some are found throughout the year, while others only spawn during specific events and seasons. On the flip side, there are some that players can grab after interacting with special characters that wander around the island only during specific events.

A major problem, however, has been duplicate DIY recipes. Animal Crossing: New Horizons completed 17 months of existence in the gaming fraternity this month, implying that most events are repeating from last year.

This makes it tougher to come across new DIY recipes as duplicate ones keep accumulating. The subsequent section will highlight the process Animal Crossing players need to undertake in order to get their hands on new DIY recipes.
