Pine Cone in Animal Crossing New Horizons is yet another Fall addition apart from Acorns. In case you are wondering how to get Pine Cones in ACNH and how to use them in DIY Crafting Recipes, you will find your answer right here.

How To Get Acorns In Animal Crossing New Horizons

To get acorns in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you simply have to shake deciduous trees. These are the trees that are more rounded in shape, rather than the pointed, triangular-shaped pine trees.

Again, acorns arent always guaranteed to drop from these trees when you shake them. Theyre an uncommon drop so keep shaking every last tree that you see.

Isabelle will send some basic recipes to your Nook Phone after she announces the arrival of Acorns and Pine Cones when you boot your game up. Fall’s seasonal materials include acorns and pine cones. Here’s how to get them and every DIY recipe you can find during the fall season.

Each season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings with it a new set of seasonal DIY recipes and materials to collect. While summer has just a handful of shell-related DIYs and only one seasonal material, the summer shell, fall has three different sets of recipes with quite a few different resources to find throughout the season. The first of these sets uses a combination of two materials you can find starting on the first day of autumn: acorns and pine cones.

In New Horizons, fall begins on September 1 in the Northern Hemisphere and March 1 in the Southern Hemisphere. The season continues until the last day of November or May, respectively, and you can find acorns and pine cones, as well as their associated recipes, all season long. Here’s how you can get the materials and DIYs.

How To Find Acorns And Pine Cones In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you want to collect some acorns and pine cones in New Horizons, then you need to start shaking the trees growing across your island.

Acorns can be found in hardwood trees, while pine cones can only be found in cedar trees.

Don’t be surprised if it takes you quite a while to find either of these materials – the treetops in New Horizons are surprisingly packed. We do, however, have a couple of tips to help you in your acorn quest.

The first is to ensure that there’s a free tile space spaced at least one tile away from the tree, but, ideally, there should be an empty space next to the tree.

This ensures that whatever is hiding within the branches will land safely on the ground. If there are no free tiles, the tree is surrounded by flowers for example, then the acorn or pine corn will vanish, preventing you from ever being able to use it.

Secondly, always make sure you’re holding your net, while standing in front of the tree to shake it.

This is because one of the five wasp nests that appear on your island every day might be hiding in the treetop and you don’t want to get stung. By standing in front of the tree, you’ll force the nest to land on either your right or left side, which will allow you to easily catch it with one swing.

Isabelle will inform you of the new seasonal event in her morning announcement. She will allude to how you can participate in the new festivitiesshaking trees. The event is available in September, October, and November in the Northern Hemisphere or March, April, and May for those in the Southern Hemisphere.

Normal hardwood trees and fruit trees will drop acorns, and the tall cedar trees that spawned in the unreachable part of your island at the beginning of the game will drop pine cones. Palm trees will not drop acorns or pine cones.

Each tree will provide an unlimited amount of materials. However, there is a relatively low chance of finding an acorn or pine cone. If youre just getting branches when shaking trees, dont be discouragedjust keep shaking! Theres a limited area/space that items will land in, so be sure to stop and pick up the fallen branches in-between shakes.

Unlike the blue shells found in the summer event, theres no need to wait for time to pass to spawn more of these crafting materials. Instead, you can shake trees as much as theyd like to reap the rewards.

Like Acorns can only be collected from specific trees, Pine Cones are dropped from Pine Trees. Yes, only Pine trees, so dont bother looking for the item elsewhere. Speed up your process by skipping other trees and hunting for Pine trees either on your island or by traveling to other islands.

Do remember that you have to be patient with the Pine Cone drops because the drop rate is relatively low but you can get unlimited pinecones from the same tree. Keep shaking the Cedar trees until you get the item you want, but if it doesnt drop despite multiple attempts, try another one. If not a Pine Cone, you will get a lot of tree branches from this activity.

How To Get Pine Cones And Acorns

The first place you should look for pine cones and acorns in Animal Crossing is the same place you’d look for them in real life – in trees. Both of these materials can be found by giving a tree a good shake. Normal hardwood trees can drop acorns, while pine cones come from the taller cedar trees. You’re not guaranteed to get any pine cones or acorns from these trees, but it shouldn’t take too long to find what you’re looking for among the tree branches that fall out.

Thankfully there’s no limit on how many acorns or pine cones a tree can drop, and you don’t have to wait for any time to pass like you did when looking for new summer shells to appear. Simply shake your trees until you get as many as you can carry. Some have estimated that there is about a 15% chance for either of these items to drop from a tree instead of a tree branch, which isn’t a lot, but again there’s no limit on how often you can try.

Once you have your new materials, feel free to start crafting some new recipes like the Acorn Pochette, Pine Bonsai Tree, all the Leaf Piles, and more. If you want to craft them all you’ll need a total of 35 acorns and 31 pine cones, among other materials, so get shaking!

Shake Trees & Pick Up Pinecones That Fall Out

Gathering a pinecone from beneath a pine tree!!

Pinecones are a Fall-only material which can be gathered by shaking trees. In the Northern Hemisphere, this will be from September 1st to December 11th, and in the Southern Hemisphere this is from March 1st to June 11th. Their drop rate seems to be rather low, as we had only 1 drop for every 10-20 trees shaken.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons does lock some of its content depending on the time of year it is. Players are encouraged to return back to the game every single day to upkeep their town. Taking care of weeds, planting a tree, and checking mail is all part of the player’s daily life. Players can skip forward in time though to prevent waiting around for events to happen. There’s a whole debate around the idea of skipping time forward and back and how ethical it is to do something like this. Most importantly, the only thing that truly matters is how much fun players are having in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing New Horizons: How To Find Pine Cones

These are one of the new crafting materials that are available during Fall.

Update : GameWith updated its article to indicate players can find pine cones for a longer period of time than what was originally listed. We’ve updated our article accordingly.

Original Story:

Its officially Fall on islands in the Northern Hemisphere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! With the change of seasons comes the addition of some new crafting materials that players can collect to create new recipes.

Weve already brought you a guide related to finding acorns on your island, and now, were here with everything you need to know about finding pine cones!

As GameWith reported, pine cones will only drop from cedar trees, rather than hardwood trees. According to GameWith, you can collect pine cones on islands in the Northern Hemisphere from September 1 to December 11, and on islands in the Southern Hemisphere from March 1 to June 11.

To find pine cones, all you have to do is run up to cedar trees and shake them! However, in our experience, these arent very common objects, and youre more likely to see tree branches, rather than pine cones, drop from these trees.

That being said, if you keep at it, you should eventually be able to collect all of the pine cones you need for your crafting projects.

To see this technique in action, check out our gameplay clip below.
