How To Get Your Island Rating To 3 Stars In New Horizons
To start, Resident Services has to have been upgraded to a building, and youâll need a campground. Once thatâs done, itâs time to spruce up your island. Remove all the weeds and start planting flowers in their stead. Invite more villagers to live on the island; Youâll have seven residents once you start focusing on island ratings. Try upping that number to at least seven, but ideally, you’ll want to get even higher. There are numerous ways to get more villagers on the island. Place at least 25 pieces of furniture or D.I.Y. projects around the island to add some flavor.
There might be some other required changes like reducing the trees on your island or adding more fences. Either way, you can speak with Isabelle at Resident Services and ask her to rate the island. Sheâll always be available for quick assessments and to offer tips on how to improve it.
Invite Blathers And Open The Museum
Animal Crossing fans already know about Blathers, the owl who runs the museum. You start on a deserted island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so Blathers and his museum arent there. That means new fish, bugs, and fossils cant be donated to it, cutting off one of the most strangely satisfying parts of the game. Fortunately, Tom Nook can take your donations until Blathers shows up. In fact, you need to give him a handful of bugs and fish before he can entice Blathers to appear.
Once you get enough samples and Blathers comes to the island, youll get the recipe for the vaulting pole. It lets you jump across rivers, opening up the island for more exploration. Youll still need to give Blathers plenty more samples before he can finally open a museum instead of working out of a tent, but its worthwhile. When the museum opens, youll finally have a place to show off all the fish and bugs you caught, and fossils you found!
Collect Everything New Resources Appear Daily
One of the initial tasks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is to pay back a loan for your tent and relocation. This is in Nook Miles – a new form of currency that is effectively awarded to you for every action you perform on the island. Even picking weeds can help fill in the Starbucks reward card style Nook Miles sheets on your NookPhone, so you shouldn’t have trouble earning them.
However, once you have paid back the first loan, you will need to repay a heftier one for your first house . And these later loans will need to be paid back in Bells rather than Nook Miles.
Thankfully, everything on the island has value and Timmy and Tommy Nook are more than happy to give you cold, hard cash for anything you bring to them. Doesn’t matter what it is, they’ll buy it.
The easy way to make cash quickly is note down the items they pay most for and seek those our more often. To be honest though, as they even buy weeds, pears and stuff that replenishes often, you will never find yourself without a means of income.

Animal Crossing New Horizons: How To Get This Imperial Item Worth 12 Millionbells
Animal Crossing New Horizons revolves around earning bells by doing various tasks so that you can design your ideal island and portray your dream character model. These are generally crafted or purchased in exchange for bells from Able Sisters or Nooks Cranny.

The royal crown is one of the most sought items in the game. Coming in at a whopping 1.2 million bells, it is an essential part of a players royal outfit. It is usually people who have been playing the game for a long time that have multiple royal crowns.
In addition to this, they cannot always be purchased from a store as and when you want one. You will have to wait for it to be put on display at the Able Sisters shop. Alternatively, rare items such as the royal crown can also be purchased at the furniture section at Redds Treasure Trawler.
However, if you do not have a royal crown yet, here are some tips you can use to get an inventory full of them:
Unlock The Museum By Trading Bugs And Fish
Trading bugs and fish with Tom Nook will prompt Blathers to drop by for a visit, which is your key to unlocking the museum on your island.

Fishing is one thing youll be doing a lot of in Animal Crossing, so make sure you know how to craft your own Fish Bait. Youll be able to unlock the recipe for this after digging up your first manila clam.
Manila clams can be found by looking out for black dots on the beach that shoot out jets of water. Shovel em out and use them to craft Fish Bait at the DIY Workbench. If you want to sell them, they are worth 100 bells.

Best Fish To Sell To Cj
While C.J. will buy any fish for much higher than they normally cost, making even common ones like black bass generally worth keeping, you’ll naturally make the most bells by selling him fish that are already worth a lot of money. Since you can’t stack fish in your inventory like you can fruits and crafting materials, your pocket space will be fairly limited, so you may as well stock up on the fish that’ll get you the most bells.
Below, you can see some of the most valuable fish you can sell to C.J. right now in both Northern and Southern Hemisphere islands. The prices have been adjusted from their original value to the 150% value that C.J. will pay you. You can also see the full list of fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons here.
Plant Plenty Of Fruit
Fruit trees are a great way to get income early in the game, and once you get a shovel, planting a pear or apple tree is easy and pays off quickly. Another semisecret form of income: money trees!;
Around the island, golden beams occasionally shine up from the ground. Dig them up and you’ll find a bag of bells . Instead of pocketing the bells and covering the hole, you can plant the bag to grow a money tree. In fact, if you select the bells in your inventory and portion out a bag of 10,000, you can grow a tree that drops bags of 10,000 bells when it grows up. If you do this once per day, you should maintain a consistent income of 20,000 bells per day, between planting and harvesting your money bags.

How To Terraform In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Using the Island Designer app is your gateway to improving your island. The default app introduces some basic terraforming, but to fiddle around with more advanced terraforming techniques involving cliffs and bodies of water, youâll need to purchase permits from the Nook Stop, which cost 6000 Nook Miles each. After that, youâll have the whole island as your malleable oyster. You can activate the app, put on a hardhat, and get to work with a special shovel that allows you to edit single blocks of your island with each swing.
In addition to terraforming, the Island Designer app allows you to perform other design tweaks to your island. You can finally add defined paths to your island. Grass and dirt paths will be the only paths available when you start, but more can be purchased from the Nook Stop for 2000 Nook Miles per path design. If you feel thatâs a little pricey , you can instead use custom path designs for free. Thatâs the extra layer of polish your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island needs.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Ladder Tool
So, you’ve already crafted your axe, shovel and vaulting pole to get yourself over rivers and explore your love new island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, yet there’s still that raised bit at the back that remains inaccessible.
You’ll need a ladder to climb up onto that higher ledge and get at the lovely flowers and cedars growing there, and you unlike some of the other tools, you’ll have to do a little bit of work before you get your hands on the ladder. As with all the other tools, you’ll first need to unlock the crafting recipe for the ladder before you can build it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons How To Get The Ladder And Climb Cliffs
Life on your deserted island is pretty ideal. There are rare bugs to discover, unique fish to catch, and plenty of materials to harvest from the land. However, you won’t be able to access every section of your island right away. If you want to scale those towering cliffs, you’re going to need a ladder first. Here’s how to unlock the ladder and reach those taunting goodies on the cliffs.
How To Get The Ladder In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons ladder is a crucial tool for getting around the island – particularly in the early stages, and when visiting Nook Miles Tickets islands.
Aim to get your little islander paws on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons ladder as soon as possible, because your brand new deserted island is actually split across several different levels. A brand new tool for the game, it’s an adorable little extending ladder that allows you to hop up to higher levels a bit like the pesky versions in Death Stranding actually but much more sturdy. You’re going to need it too, as your island will have at least one other level upon which to find more resources and expand your little settlement.
However, there’s a catch. You don’t get the ladder for quite some time in the game, meaning those upper levels both on your own island, and those you’ll visit using Nook Miles Tickets, are completely off-limits at first.;

Invite More Villagers To Your Town
7 Villagers or more
Not everyone wants to visit a deserted island – and so Isabelle will give you feedback indicating the population may need to be bigger in order to get a more favorable rating.
At the time the Campground is completed, your town should have at least 6 residents – but you’ll want to get at least 7 or more to at least meet the qualifications to hit 3 Star Rank.
Here’s how you invite more villagers.
How To Unlock The Shovel And Vaulting Pole
To get a Shovel, youll need to entice the museum curator Blathers to join your island. Since youve already been giving Tom Nook assorted fauna, make sure hes given a total of 5 bugs and/or fish, and Blathers will call – prompting you to place a spot down for his tent. Speak to Blathers the next day to get a recipe for the Flimsy Shovel. A Shovel can be used to dig up buried items, transplant trees and flowers, and strike rocks.
Along with the Shovel, youll also get a recipe for the Vaulting Pole. This item doesnt break like the others, and you can use it to quickly cross rivers with ease – both on your island and on mystery islands.

How To Climb Up The 4th Level Cliff In Version 19
Step 1: Dig Three Tiles In, Dig One Corner Tile
To get started with climbing to the 4th level of your cliffs, dig three empty tiles into the cliff in the north to south direction, like an upside down L shape. Obviously, you need to have created some cliff area on the 4th level already for this.
Next, go ahead and round out the 4th tile so that its a rounded corner tile, making a 2×2 square with the bottom left corner curved. Essentially just recreate exactly what you see in the screenshot below if its too confusing!
Its sometimes possible to pull off this glitch from the south to north direction or others instead, but it seems to work far more reliably in the manner were outlining here, so try this first.
Step 2: Place A Small Item North Of You In The Middle of 4 Tiles
For the second step, you need to find a small 1×1 tile item. In this example, were using the Glass Holder With Candle, but the glitch should work fine with any similarly sized item.
Once youve got your small 1×1 item ready, place it down carefully in the direct middle of the 4 tiles above you. Basically you want the item in the half-tile position in between all four tiles. Its extremely important that you place it right like this for the glitch to work correctly.
Again, you can refer to the screenshot above to see the exact placement and copy it!
Step 3: Face The Item North, Move Down Towards South East, Quickly Press A To Dig
Step 4: Glitch Up Onto The 4th Level Cliff And Decorate!
Don’t Put Off Paying Your Debts
Tom Nook, the wealthy business-raccoon funding your adventure and constantly pressuring you to spend more money than you have, puts you in what feels like deep debt on your first day. It takes a little time to build up Nook Miles — an achievement-based currency — early in the game, but work to earn them quickly and pay off that first debt ASAP. The faster you pay back your first loan, the faster Tom will build you a home and, most crucially, give you the extra storage you need for everything you’re about to start collecting.

Build Exterior Furniture And Diy Items
25 Exterior Items Placed
Arguably the most important part of improving your island’s image – you’re going to want to display as many items and set pieces as you can to make your town shine.
It’s around this time that Tom Nook will add a ton of new DIY Recipes and other items to be bought from the Nook Stop terminal, and they include countless exterior items to make your island look like a real town – including streetlamps, fountains, benches, and tons more.
The more extravagant the items, the better your rating is likely to be, so go wild! We eventually reached a 3 Star Town Rating with around 25 items placed, but its likely that bigger and more expensive items might move things along quicker.
Build A Bridge For Your Island
Now that youve invited a few villagers back to your town, Tom Nook will eventually contact you with a proposition hed like you to build a new bridge for the town. Gather up the required materials log stakes, clay, and stone then craft your wooden bridge and place it over a stream. Youll now have access to a brand new part of the island. Still, theres no way to reach the areas of your town at a high elevation.
