Catch All The Fish And Bugs
Another early tip: Catch every animal you see — which pretty much consists of fish and bugs. Keep an eye on flowers for stinkbugs and mantises, snag butterflies in the groves, and shake trees and rocks to find pill bugs and spiders. Here’s how my colleague caught the elusive stringfish. As soon as you craft your first bug net and fishing pole, start handing over your collected critters to Tom Nook. Sure, you could sell these creatures to Timmy and Tommy, the island’s resident traders, but Tom Nook will send each unique discovery to his friend Blathers the owl, who lives off-island.
Long story short, after enough donations, Blathers the owl will come build a museum on the island and set you on to a much larger collection project, opening up the game considerably.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Level Up Fast
You should want to level up very quickly as it will allow you to unlock new animals, new furniture, new content as well as giving you a multitude of rewards for your efforts.
New friendsNew friends are much better for raising your level since their relationship level is 0 and it is much easier to level up your relationship with them than it is to level up a friend with a higher level.
Upgrading AmenitiesUpgrading Amenities gives all of your friends residing in your campsite 5 points for their next relationship level. This is good as you can have friends who are level 7 or above stay at your campsite to upgrade them all at once by upgrading your Amenities.
Friends and RequestsCompleting requests will increase your relationship level with friends and level up faster. Speaking to your friends regularly will also have the same effect.
Friends will have requests for you after a set amount of time and you can also use your request tickets to do more requests if you run out of them.
Have friends at your CampsiteThe base maximum Relationship Level is 7, after this, it will be very difficult to upgrade that level. The way to get around it is to invite your level 7 friends to your campsite and place an item that increases your relationship with them there.
You can also craft an item for them to increase their level or use the Upgrade Amenities move which we discussed earlier.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons How To Get The Ladder And Vaulting Pole
Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives you some new ways to get around the world in the game, with a new vaulting pole to let you cross streams, and a ladder so you can climb up the cliff faces and reach higher parts of the multi-level landmasses.
But you wont have them right away. In fact, itll be several days before you can explore every corner of your island, and you might be scratching your head as to how you can get up a cliff. Heres how and when you can get the vaulting pole and ladder.
Weve got plenty of other walkthroughs and tips for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and more on the way. Visit our game hub to check those out.

How To Get The Ladder As Fast As Possible In Animal Crossing
Though you could technically get the Ladder in a couple of days, there are a lot of materials to farm to get there. If you want it as soon as your second day, there is a way – and that’s with the help of friends in multiplayer.
Simply put – once you have a friend who has unlocked a Ladder, they can craft one and post it to you provided you are Best Friends. As soon as you get the Ladder, it’s possible Nook Cranny can stock a DIY recipe for it also – which you can post to them, or have you come round to purchase yourself.
There is technically nothing ‘game-breaking’ about having the Ladder early – so if you’re keen to have it as soon as possible, there’s no reason not to. And a benefit of doing so is having access to different types of Fish, Insects, and more rocks and fossils to mine.
If you’re playing in the month of launch, it’s worth noting there is a type of Fish disappearing at the end of the month only found in the pool at the top of the cliffs – in case you needed another incentive to get a move on.
Invite New Villager To Live On The Island
Head off on your adventures using your Nook Miles Tickets, which you can get from the Nook Stop Terminal thats in Residents Service. Once your moving fees are out of the way, you can splurge out on that ticket for 2,000 Miles. Look at you, you big spender.
The tickets give you a temporary pass to fly from your island to a smaller island automatically generated and deserted island. When youre there you can gather your craft materials, foreign fruit and so on to take home.
While youre on the other island look out for a castaway who is quite happy to up sticks and return with you to your island. Once you spot one strike up a conversation a few times, casual chat, then theyll just throw it out there and ask if they can move to your island. If you say yes, theyll call Tom Nook to arrange everything. Of course, you can decline if they just seem a little off to you.

Play The Stalk Market
Playing the Stalk Market is a pretty reliable way to increase your weekly revenue. You can buy turnips on Sundays from Daisy Mae for prices that usually hover around 100 bells. For the rest of the week, you can check in the morning and the afternoon at the Nook’s Cranny store to see the rates for turnips. The goal is to buy low and sell high.
A few important notes: Turnips rot after a week, so you can’t just hoard them waiting for a giant payday. They also rot if you travel back in time. And checking prices twice a day takes time, so you probably don’t want to start investing in turnips until the time is worth the payoff. I don’t invest unless I have at least 50,000 bells. Then, even a small rise in prices can lead to a significant return. If you want to get intense about it, you can even check out websites that fans have built to calculate the trajectory of the Stalk Market across the week.
Find Every Type Of Fruit
The first fruit you find on your island — I found pears — sells for 100 bells a piece. But as you get more “foreign fruit,” you can sell it for as much as 500 bells each. The problem is, finding those pesky fruit trees can be a challenge, even if you spend all your Nook Miles traveling to other islands in pursuit.
Since every player starts with different fruit on their island, though, one of the easiest ways to get all six types of trees growing at home is by sharing. If you have friends playing the game, you can travel to their island. If not, you can always look on Reddit for strangers sharing public codes so you can get a few new fruits to grow. And remember, if you don’t have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can always get a 7-day free trial to find what you need, then cancel before you get charged.

As a guide, Tom Nook will offer you a selection of all the new recipes that you will need to build the new house. Now, of the many items, you will also need some flowers for crafting purposes. And these flowers are only available on higher grounds of your island.

What To Do On Day 7
Theres something bighappening on your island today. Yes, Tom Nooks boring ol tent is being transformed into a legit Resident Services building, with all sorts of new functionality added. Unfortunately, its going to take a couple days for the upgrade to happen.
Today its mostly business as usual, but tomorrow the tent will be fully inaccessible. Dont worry, the Nook Miles streak you get for accessing the ABD every day wont be broken during this time.
The third and final housing plot should be filled today, so make sure you head over there and introduce yourself. Im sure theyll appreciate all the effort you put in to get them set up.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Ladder Tool
So, you’ve already crafted your axe, shovel and vaulting pole to get yourself over rivers and explore your love new island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, yet there’s still that raised bit at the back that remains inaccessible.
You’ll need a ladder to climb up onto that higher ledge and get at the lovely flowers and cedars growing there, and you unlike some of the other tools, you’ll have to do a little bit of work before you get your hands on the ladder. As with all the other tools, you’ll first need to unlock the crafting recipe for the ladder before you can build it.
Invite A Few Villagers To Come And Stay On Your Island
The first thing that you need to do is go on adventures on Nook Miles Tickets. You will need to buy the tickets using the Nook Stop terminal which is in the Residents’ Services after paying the moving fees. You will get a temporary pass to fly out from your own island and discover an alternative deserted island which will be generated at random.

More importantly, you will also need to discover a castaway who will be open to shifting to your island. So every time you spot one, make sure that you speak to them a few times, and they should be interested to move along. Reply to them in the affirmative and they will make a call to Tom Nook for the arrangements.

What To Do On Day 4
This is going to be a big day. Blathers Museum is going to be fully open, which means you can take everything youve been saving over to him for donation. If youve already donated something, itll be grayed out, so its a good idea to fill your inventory with potential discoveries to see what hell take. Afterward, you can sell everything thats grayed out.
Where do you sell it? Timmy and Tommys Store, of course! Nooks Cranny will be your new shopping destination for new furniture. You can also sell off unneeded items and check the board in front of the store for an in demand item that sells for far more than normal.
Big Goal 1 Build a Bridge
Talk to Tom Nook, who will mention that there are new people interested in moving to your island. But first he wants to make sure theres enough space for them. Hell give you a recipe for a Wooden Bridge, which will make traveling across a single river far easier. Itll require a handful of Wood to create the components, but youve been harvesting every day, right? So you should be fine!
Think long and hard about the placement of your first bridge, though. While the first bridge is free, subsequent bridges will cost a lot of Bells, so make this one count. Put it somewhere that you think will get the most use based on your island layout.
Big Goal 2 Select three housing plots
Big Goal 3 Build furniture for your plots
Big Goal 4 Harvest more resources
You know what to do!
What To Do On Day 5
If youve been following this guide, Day 5 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is going to be a bit slow. There are really only two major events to take note of.
Firstly, your Wooden Bridge will be completed. Unfortunately you wont be able to build any more bridges for a little while, but at least thatll make one river crossing easier for now. You can talk to Nook and attend the opening ceremony, but its optional.
Big Goal 1 Meet your new neighbor
The other notable thing on Day 5: Youll have a new inhabitant on your island! Walk over to their newly built house and have a chat. You wont get much out of it, but its always a good idea to introduce yourself.
Big Goal 2 Learn how to customize furniture
Tom Nook will teach you how to customize furniture and other DIY projects via a seminar in his tent. Take his class, and itll open a wide variety of visual customizations for your furniture and tools.
Big Goal 3 Harvest more resources
By this point youre likely drowning in Hardwood, Softwood, and Wood. If you feel like youve got plenty, feel free to skip the day hitting all the trees around your town, if only to save your sanity. That said, its always good to hit all of your rocks for Iron Nuggets, Stones, and more, as these resources can be a bit hard to come by. You may even score a Golden Nugget in the process. If you do, save it for later.

Travel Back In Time Before You Move Forward
Time travel is a major topic of conversation in the Animal Crossing community, and it’s a controversial one. Since the game takes place in real time, you actually have to wait a realday for buildings to get built and plants to grow. And Animal Crossing: New Horizons starts slow. So if you suspect you’ll want a quicker start, consider setting your Nintendo Switch’s clock back 7 to 10 days. That way, as you play, you can bump it up a day every few hours to cover some of the early, slower-developing portions of the game more quickly.
Build A Bridge For Your Island
Now that youve invited a few villagers back to your town, Tom Nook will eventually contact you with a proposition hed like you to build a new bridge for the town. Gather up the required materials log stakes, clay, and stone then craft your wooden bridge and place it over a stream. Youll now have access to a brand new part of the island. Still, theres no way to reach the areas of your town at a high elevation.

How To Unlock The Shovel And Vaulting Pole
To get a Shovel, youll need to entice the museum curator Blathers to join your island. Since youve already been giving Tom Nook assorted fauna, make sure hes given a total of 5 bugs and/or fish, and Blathers will call prompting you to place a spot down for his tent. Speak to Blathers the next day to get a recipe for the Flimsy Shovel. A Shovel can be used to dig up buried items, transplant trees and flowers, and strike rocks.
Along with the Shovel, youll also get a recipe for the Vaulting Pole. This item doesnt break like the others, and you can use it to quickly cross rivers with ease both on your island and on mystery islands.
Prepare The Plots Of Land And Housing Kits
Tom Nook has promised new residents that they get fully-kitted homes, and youll have to help him with that. First, you have to place the plots of land down. For each of the three houses, you have to craft six furniture items.
However, youll notice that among the recipes, there are flowers youve never seen before. Theyre not anywhere near the areas you can reach. However, as you did promise to help Tom Nook out, you cant give up.

How To Get Vaulting Pole & Ladder To Cross Rivers & Climb Cliffs
When you first arrive on your deserted island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, youll find yourself quite restricted in terms of accessing most of the islands landmass, but with two simple critical items you can easily cross rivers and climb cliffs!
With the Vaulting Pole tool item you can cross all of the rivers you wish with ease, and with the Ladder tool item you can climb previously inaccessible cliffs and ledges that have been taunting you. Heres how to unlock and craft both of these important items to progress in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Players Must Dive Deep To Catch A Dungeness Crab In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The Dungeness crab is a brand new critter in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is considered a benthic creature, which means it lives at the lowest level of a body of water. In this case, it’s found at the bottom of the ocean.
Since it only spawns deep in the ocean’s depth, it can only be acquired from diving. It can neither be fished up nor will it wash ashore on an island. This makes dungeness crabs rather difficult to catch. If acquired, players can donate it to the museum, to which Blathers will remark:
“The Dungeness crab wears a pretty fan-shaped shell that’s often done up in purple hues. But eye-catching colors aside, this fellow can be surprisingly hard to spot! That’s because the Dungeness crab is something of an expert hider. When scared, it plays a nifty trick! That is, it buries itself beneath the sand with impressive speed. ‘Now you see me, now you don’t,”‘it says as it vanishes before your very eyes!”
It can also be sold for 1,900 bells. In order to catch it, players must go diving, which can’t occur before they’ve purchased a swimsuit. Dungeness crab has a medium sized shadow.
