Growing Blue Roses In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Once players have special White and Hybrid Red roses, they should cross them to breed Orange Roses. While Orange Roses can be generated through other cross-breeding techniques, this is the best way for players to have the highest possible chance of obtaining Blue Roses.
Players will need to cross this Orange Rose with the special White Roses. This should eventually spawn special Hybrid Red Roses. These are the player’s ticket to Blue Roses.
Players will need to cross two or more of the special Hybrid Red Roses to try and spawn Blue Roses. Players should place as many special Red Roses for cross-breeding as possible to further increase their chances of growing Blue Roses. Blue Roses are also self-spawning, meaning only having one should be enough to grow more on the island.
Blue Roses only sell for up to 1,000 bells. Because of the lengthy growing process, these are not great flowers to sell for profit. Instead, players should use them for decoration. Blue Roses are the main ingredient for the DIY Blue Rose Crown, which players can wear. With a lot of patience , players can grow this rare flower and display them proudly on their island home.

Cloning Flowers In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If youre looking to clone flowers, then the process to do so is incredibly easy.
All you need to do is plant whatever flower that you want to clone on its own, with no other roses near it, and give it water. By watering it, you should trigger the hybrid process, but with no other rose nearby to cross with, youll simply clone the flower that you had planted and watered.
This has been tested by players over on the Animal Crossing subreddit. One player planted red lilies adjacent to one another, and another bunch of red lilies not adjacent to any flower.
Over the course of a week, those with other adjacent red lilies produced 13 red lilies, 5 pink lilies, and 4 black lilies, while the red lilies without adjacent neighboring plants produced 14 red lilies and no hybrids.
Remember, you can always eat fruit and use your shovel to dig up a flower and move it to somewhere else on your island. This is ideal for cloning your best flowers with ease and with no chance of any unexpected results.

How To Get And Plant Flowers In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
There’ll be some flowers planted on the island when you first arrive, but you won’t be able to reach them until you can craft a ladder. You can pick the actual flowers themselves to sell and craft with, and flowers can also be destroyed if you run over them – but so long as you don’t dig up the base and the roots, they’ll grow back after a couple of days. You can move planted flowers by digging them out with your shovel then planting them somewhere else.
Beyond the initial flowers already out in the on your island when you arrive, you can also buy extra flowers from Timmy in Residential Services and later in the Nook’s Cranny shop once it’s built. On any given day the shop will always have six different types of flower in stock in unlimited quantities – usually three styles of flower in two colors each.
It costs 240 Bells to buy one flower to plant, or you can get a bundle of five flowers for 1200 bells – which isn’t a saving, but saves you from buying flowers five times. Once the shop moves into Nook’s Cranny, the flowers are stored in the cabinet in the back.
Once you have your flowers, you can plant them out in the island from your inventory. You can move them, as we said, by digging them up. Flowers improve your island’s image, which later in the game will help to raise your star rating, alongside things like decoration and removing weeds.

Cultivate Black Roses In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Once players have at least two black Rose plants, they can increase the chances of more black Roses growing by placing black Roses next to each other and continuing to water them. Black Roses sell for 80 bells, though because they are so difficult to grow, players don’t typically try to sell them.
So far, there aren’t any DIY items that require a black Rose, so these somewhat rare flowers are primarily grown for the aesthetic of a player’s island and to add to a player’s overall collection. However, black Roses are a requirement for growing gold Roses, which sell for 1000 bells, so the more black Roses a player has, the better chance they have to grow the gold Rose.

Preparation For Breeding Blue Roses In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The process for growing Blue Roses requires several generations of different color cross-breeding, and because of this, getting the right genetic color is often up to chance. Using more basic growing methods will only spawn Blue Roses 1.6% of the time. To improve the chances of growing a Blue Rose to the maximum 25%, players may need to use a lengthier and more involved method.
Before breeding flowers, players should prepare themselves and consult several flower breeding guides to better understand the process. Players also need to carve out a specific place to create the necessary checkerboard pattern and allow flowers to flourish. The location can also be reused to repeat the process until Blue Roses eventually spawn.
Even through cross-breeding, Roses may be the “wrong” color, at least genetically. There are ways for players to check and make sure they have the “right” genetically coded colors through test cross-breeds, which are part of the process.
