Heres How To Move Rocks In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
This entire project started with an insane idea. I noticed that stone and wood-based terraforming tiles would not allow certain things to spawn. I soon discovered that you can use this to force rocks to spawn exactly where you want them to, but its going to take you several hours and a weeks worth of waiting.
The Ground Pattern Method
Similar to the path method, you can also place down custom art . This allows you to place any art you’ve made as a 1×1 tile, much like paths, and stone cannot grow on top of them .
The upside of this method is that unlike the Island Designer App, you can rapidly select and place designs on the floor if you keep pressing A to re-select , and will automatically expand around you to a maximum 3×3 radius until there’s no more room to place designs down. Then, you can simply move to a free path of ground and continue laying down designs.
You can also clean up your designs a bit easier as you’ll be able to wipe away the designs as you would a hole in the ground by pressing X. There will still likely be a lot of designs to wipe away, and you can’t simply edit the design to get rid of them.
Whats The Point Of Breaking The Rocks
After learning how to shatter rocks in Animal Crossing, you may be curious as to why you should break the rocks in the game:
If you shatter an item, you will get certain things that will be beneficial to you. From Bells to Stones, these are the ranges. It is not guaranteed that you will get a certain item. You can receive anything, so dont anticipate anything particular; itll be a pleasant surprise. By shattering the rocks, you will get enough room to construct a structure or anything else at that location. You will also have access to a walking area.

Help I Accidentally Destroyed My Rock By Eating Fruit Before Hitting It How Do I Get The Rock Back Do Rocks Respawn In Animal Crossing
Calm down, calm down! If you accidentally destroy a rock in Animal Crossing: New Horizons all you have to do is wait until tomorrow and the rock fairies will magically return it to its former glory somewhere else on your island, enabling you to once again bash it for all it’s worth. Yes, rocks respawn overnight, so no need to worry. Phew!
It’s worth bearing in mind that only one rock will respawn per night. Destroy one by accident and you’ll be fine, but destroying every rock on your island in a fit of shovel-based violence will leave you with fewer rocks to harvest materials from for several days, so be careful.
What You Should Know
This means that without support behind you, after two strikes, you will be out of reach of the rock. The quick walk back to the rock will take away time and leave you with less material.
You should position yourself between the rock and the two holes, then press A repeatedly. With the two holes behind you for support, you will be able to harvest all the materials the rock has to offer.

How To Make A Rock Garden In New Horizons
Having all your rocks in one area is actually a rather tedious process, but its well worth the time. It will also take around a week in order to move them all to their desired places unless you want to use time travel to speed it up, of course.
Youll also need a shovel, obviously, as well as six pieces of fruit, a Custom Design pattern, the 7×5 area you want the garden to be in, and the Island Designer app as itll make your life so much easier. You can make it 7×9 if youd like the area to be fenced in, either works.
If you open up your map, youll see that your island is actually set up as a grid. Each section only allows you to have four rocks, but you can get around this and place all six by placing them between two of the lines.
They wont spawn on hard paths such as brick or wood, by the edges of cliffs, rivers or ponds, on the beach, by trees, or adjacent to any buildings, so bear that in mind when planning your space.
Once youve found your chosen area, youll want to plan out where you want the rocks to go. The easiest way of doing this is by using the Island Designer app to place a path tile where you want each one, and then using a different type of path in all the spots in between.
Let The Rock Destruction Begin
Your next goal will be to destroy all the rocks that are available all over your island. Dont worry, they will respawn, so you wont lose them forever.
In order to do this, you can take a shovel with you, eat a fruit and smash a rock. Eating the fruit will give you fruit energy which will make you capable of destroying rocks with your shovel.

Make All Remaining Custom Designs Invisible
In the process of disabling and making the Custom Design tiles we laid down transparent
You definitely won’t want to leave your entire island covered in Custom Designs, so as a final finishing touch we recommend going around and manually making every tile transparent! This way, you’ll be able to see your ground as it normally is.
Careful When Spamming The Y Button
Note that making a custom design transparent does not mean the tile is a regular floor. When pressing the Y button while collecting items, you might accidentally remove the custom design tile, causing fossils and weeds to spawn there again.
How To Get More Rocks
All of the rocks you break will respawn in a random spot on your island, but note that only one rock will respawn each day. In other words, if you break six rocks today, youll only have one rock tomorrow and it will take nearly a week for them all to come back.
However, rocks can only respawn in locations that meet certain requirements. For example, picture a 3×3 grid. In the center square of that grid is your potential rock spawn location. If any of the eight surrounding squares are blocked by something, the rock will not spawn.
PS: Anything that you cant walk through will prevent a rock from respawning.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Rock Trick
If Animal Crossing: New Horizons is your first experience of Nintendo’s sedate life-sim series, you may be struggling to find materials you need to craft essential tools. Hitting rocks is one way to gather valuable resources like iron nuggets, clay, stones, several bugs and even Bells.
If you get the timing right, it’s possible to maximise the number of goodies that pop out of the rock, although each strike with an axe or a shovel will propel you backwards meaning you’re ever more likely to miss the rock completely – and therefore miss out on materials!
However, there is a way to 100% guarantee getting every last resource from rocks. Veterans of the Animal Crossing series will no doubt have tried the time-honoured trick which enables you to bag the maximum number of resources from hitting rocks. It involves having something behind you that prevents each strike pushing you away from the stone.
Here we’ll show you the quickest way to harvest resources from rocks around your Animal Crossing island.

In Animal Crossing How Do You Break Rocks
You must follow the instructions below in order to shatter rocks in this game:
Youll need an axe and a fruit if you want to smash rocks in this game. Any fruit that blooms on your island is yours to pluck. Once you acquire these two things, you must proceed as follows:
- First, you must consume fruit; following that, a new symbol will emerge in the upper left corner of your screen. It will indicate that you have eaten a tenth of an apple.
- You must now approach the rock you want to shatter. After that, just hit A.
- The rock will then shatter, and your gruit meter will reset to 0.
You should not be concerned if you have inadvertently shattered a rock and are concerned about it. After a few days, the rocks will respawn on your island.

How To Spawn Rocks Together In Animal Crossing New: Horizons
If running around the island farming those rocks start to lose its charm, the next best step is to bring them all together in one easy to access location. But first, let’s explain how rocks work. Rocks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons only spawn in places where there is an empty 3×3 space available. What’s tricky about this is knowing what objects would make it difficult or cause a disruption in this process. By destroying them, and seeing where they respawn the next day, or by observing what objects may or may not already be close to the rocks currently on the island, players could figure out on their own how to manipulate this. Any object that does not include flowers, weeds, dirt and/or gravel paths can and will “disrupt” or the location of a rock spawn. Cliff sides, trees, and bodies of water can also affect where rocks spawn, as players will notice there will always be at least one space between the rocks and these objects.
Of course, rocks only spawn on dirt or grass so setting up a stone path, for example, might restrict where it spawns, but will not inhibit rocks from spawning right next to it. Flowers, weeds, and the paths merely affect where nearby the rock will spawn and can be used as a tool to correctly position them. While there are many ways of doing this including terraforming, one YouTube content creator by the name of MayorMori uses mannequins to prevent rocks from spawning around the island and placing them in a rock garden.

Place The Furniture On The Shore
Once you’ve got all the furniture necessary, place it all along the water’s edge! Remember, you need to cover up all tiles touching the water, so make sure to double check carefully when laying down furniture! If you drop an item and it doesn’t fall on the water’s edge, that means you’ve effectively covered up the right tile.
What Do You Do If The Rocks Arent Spawning
During this process, you may encounter a situation where your rocks arent spawning. In my case, my sixth rock wouldnt spawn for two days in a row; weeds spawned in the only open space on my map instead.
The solution requires an understanding of how rocks spawn. Rocks need a 3×3 open area to spawn. You can open up some spaces where rocks;cant spawn but other things;can. This will give you much better chances for the last rock or two to spawn where you want it to.
In my case, I cleared out a bunch of spaces next to a nearby river after my last rock wouldnt spawn. The open spaces arent in a flat 3×3 area, so rocks could not spawn there. Fossils and weeds;could spawn, freeing up the intended space for my rock to spawn. I was then able to get back to work restoring my island to its former, mostly-unpaved glory.

Can You Respawn And Move Rocks In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The first question is whether or not its even possible to move rocks in;Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The answer is a bit complicated.
You cant pick up and move rocks in the same way that you can pick up and move trees in;Animal Crossing: New Horizons. If you eat a fruit and hit a tree with your shovel, youll pick it up and you can replant it elsewhere. If you eat a fruit and hit a rock, you will instead destroy it.
Rocks respawn on your island at the rate of 1/day, so you really dont want to smash all of your rocks. While you cant technically;move them, you can cause them to respawn exactly where you want anywhere on your island, but its going to take a lot of work.
How To Get 8 Things From Rocks In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
First up, notice that the entire island has a grid system layout and each rock is surrounded by 8 squares. These squares must be empty so that the goodies coming out of the rock have a place to land. So, follow the steps below:
- Rid the spaces around the rocks of any weeds or other items
- Head to one of the corner spaces surrounding the rock – we’ve head to the north-eastern space in the pic below. From here use a shovel to dig a hole to the top and to the right of your current position. Feel free to dig additional holes and really ‘block yourself in’, but once you’ve done it a few times you’ll only need two.
- Now face the rock and start hammering the ‘A’ button. You’ll strike the rock multiple times and it will continue pinging out goodies to a maximum of eight.
- Now vacuum up all the resources by pressing ‘Y’ and and fill those holes back in. Alternatively, leave them there and they’ll be refilled magically overnight.
And that’s it! This trick is especially valuable for extracting the maximum number of Bells from the ‘money rock’ which will manifest in a different rock each day. Using this trick you can guarantee a total of 13,000 Bells every day just by bashing an old rock. Lovely!
Of course, judicious planting of trees and placement of items around rocks means you can avoid the time-intensive method of digging altogether and get straight to harvesting resources from rocks.
