Collide Into Large Items Like Bathtubs Example
If youd like to glitch yourself into an item on your island Animal Crossing: New Horizons, such as the Cypress Bathtub, you can follow the example below! Create an elevated cliff area at least 2 by 5 tiles wide; so you have space for the small item, a 2×2 item to collide into, and space to place the items.
Turn one corner of the cliff into a diagonal corner piece, and place your small item on the edge at the top. Then place the larger item you wish to collide into off to the side, being careful to leave a gap similarly sized as the screenshot above.
When you climb up using your ladder into the small item, you should be able to easily collide into the larger item with a combination of moving around towards it and fiddling with the ZL Button to open/close a menu.
After your items and the glitch are working, you can choose to remove some extra cliff thats only required for initial setup. Or you might want to expand the cliff area, so you can decorate or try larger items like the Outdoor Bath.
Swimming In Animal Crossing: New Horizons: How It Works Sea Creatures And Diving
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
When I first told my daughter that we were going to be able to swim in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, she got excited that we were going to be able to use that pool sitting on my in-game deck. Nope! Such things are confusing to explain to toddlers, but we persist. Regardless, swimming has arrived in the game as of an update late last night, giving us arguably the biggest gameplay update since the game launched. Lets get into how it works.
To swim, youre going to need a wetsuit. To get your first wetsuit, head on over to Nooks Cranny and look in the cabinet where you find tools, seeds and the like. You can buy one for 3,000 bells, and if you dont like it you can get more through Nook Shopping and likely other sources. Youll also get a snorkel mailed to you, but thats only for style.
After that, youll need to don the wetsuit and head out over to the edges of your island. Hit A to hop in the water, and then hit A to keep paddling around. Youre doing it! Thats the bulk of it, and when it comes to vibing, youre already there.
Place Small Item Near Corner Cliff Edge
The fundamentals behind this glitch is that your character can climb up or down a cliff into this particular type of small item. Rather than being blocked from climbing as you would typically find with most items, youre able to climb right into it.
For this glitch to occur, the small item needs to be placed right up against the corner edge of a diagonal cliff piece either at the top of an elevated cliff or at the bottom next to one. You can see an example of each in the screenshot above.

Where To Find Sea Creatures
You likely aren’t swimming just for recreationthere are plenty of creatures to be found. 40 sea creatures are available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and finding them is a relatively easy process compared to catching creatures on land.
As you swim around, you’ll notice some areas where bubbles are coming up from underwater. These are where you can catch sea creatures like octopi and lobsters. There are 40 sea creatures in total, and you can donate any you find to Blathers at your island’s museum.
To actually catch these creatures, all you have to do is swim to those bubbles and press Y to dive. Your villager will swim underwater and emerge with a sea creature in hand.
Along with donating sea creatures, you can also give them to a non-playable character named Pascal. Find Pascal the sea otter also swimming around the water, and he’ll gladly take any scallops you find underwater for a trade.
Get Yourself A Wetsuit
The moment you boot up the game with the patch safely applied, you’ll notice that Nintendo has sent you a gift to mark the occasion. It’s your very first snorkel! But, this is more of a cute addition to your wardrobe than anything, as it’s a wetsuit that you’ll need for diving.;
You can obtain an Animal Crossing: New Horizons wetsuit from a number of places, but the easiest – and fastest – way of getting one is through the cabinet in your Nook’s Cranny shop. The Nook nephews will have one variation available per day to purchase, so make sure to find one that suits your look best.;
There are also wetsuit options available via the Nook Shopping app too, but obviously it won’t arrive until the next calendar day. Plus, there’s also a special Nook-themed full-body wetsuit, and matching snorkel, now listed as part of the Nook Miles Rewards package. Stylish!

Types Of Sea Creature
Similar to fish and bugs, the deep-sea creature collectables come in different types.
- Lobsters, shrimps and crabs are a type of crustacean, with Acorn Barnacles, a type of arthropod and Giant Isopods also being a type of crustacean.
- The Turban Shell, Sea Slug, Scallop, , Abalone, Oyster, Ear Shell, Clam and Pearl Oyster are all mollusks.
Find A Small Low Height Item For Tables
To pull off this glitch and make your way into swimming through the river or colliding into an item, youll need to find a small 1×1 item thats close to flat and typically designed for placing on tables.
Some common furniture items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons matching this description that weve successfully tested with the glitch include the following:
- Unfinished Puzzle
- Turkey Day Table Setting
- Yut Nori
If you discover another working item, please share it in the comments below to help everyone out.

What To Do With New Sea Creatures
If you check your Critterpedia, you’ll find there’s a brand new tab for “sea creatures.” Anything you find on one of your underwater excursions will end up in this section, even if–as Blathers later explains–it isn’t exactly a “creature.” Seaweed, sea grapes, and other ocean plant life will get categorized here too. Check out our full list of all 40 sea creatures added in the new summer update.
Not only does the new swimming update mean new wildlife to log in your Critterpedia, but new things to donate to your museum as well. Blathers will gladly take any new sea creature or vegetation you find while diving as a donation to the museum.
You can also, as with any other wildlife find, place it as decoration. While most of what we’ve found so far will appear in a standard display tank, a few items like the seaweed have a unique placement style that you can use to decorate your island, so don’t forget to experiment!

After you’ve brought a wetsuit it’s time to explore the sea surrounding your island in New Horizons.
First, however, you need to put your wetsuit on, which is done exactly like how you change into every other clothing item. Simply find it in your inventory, select it and then choose the option – ‘Wear.’
There are other swimming themed clothing, such as the scuba mask, which you can wear while swimming. These items, however, won’t have an impact on your swimming or diving abilities.
Now that you’re all suited up, it’s time to head to the shore and get into the water.
You can either simply walk into the waves or dive bomb from one of the stony platforms dotted around your island by pressing A.
To swim you need to press A and then use the left analogue stick to decide which direction you wish to go in; simply decide which direction you want to go in and head that way.

Use Ladder To Climb Up Or Down Into Small Item
Once you have one of the compatible small items set up on the edge of a cliff corner, you can simply take your Ladder and climb either downwards into the item from above, or climb upwards into the item from below.
If youve done it properly, your character will be able to stand directly on the small item thats placed on the edge, and youll find the movement to be quite glitchy. Now you understand the fundamentals of the glitch, you can use it to do fun things like push yourself into the river or inside of a large item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
