How To Get The Vaulting Pole In Animal Crossing New Horizons
To get the Vaulting Pole you’ll need to speak to Blathers. This means you’ll need to have opened the museum. You can find more info on doing so here. Once you have the museum built, go and speak to Blathers, he will give you the vaulting pole DIY Recipe so that you can collect Fossils .
How To Get A Bridge In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Crossing the river now allows you to collect fossils and explore more of the island – but you’ll soon grow tired of having to use the Vaulting Pole every time you want to explore these later regions. For this, we need to build a bridge.
Building a bridge in Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes a little more work, and requires you unlock Nook’s Cranny and start the process of placing new Villager houses around the island.
If you’re not there yet, the steps are as follows. Talk to Timmy and Tommy in Residential Services, who want to build a shop but need various resources first – 30 pieces of each type of Wood Material, as well as 30 Iron Nuggets.
Settle on where to build the shop, and the next day, it will be open for business. On the same day, Nook will then have a phone call about new people interested in the island relocation programme during his usual daily briefing.
Once he has the call, pay Nook a visit in Residential Services. Talk to him about the new Villagers arriving, and when ready, choose ‘What should I do?’ from the menu.
It’s at this point the Bridge unlocks – as before the Villagers can arrive, they need a way to get around the island. You’ll receive the Bridge Construction Kit, which requires the following materials:
- 4x Log Stakes
- 4x Clay
- 4x Stone
The Vaulting Pole Item In Animal Crossing New Horizons
In order to unlock the Vaulting Pole item, the player must first bring along Blathers on to their tropical island. Blathers is in charge of the Museum on the island, a location where the player can display the bugs and fish they collect while on the island. Blathers will provide the player with the Vaulting Pole item and the Shovel so they can go around and collect more bugs and fish to put on display on the planned museum opening. To bring Blathers onto the island, the player must go around the island and collect fish and bug and return them to Tom Nook. Tom Nook will then send every specimen the player provides to him to Blathers. One important thing to mention is the specimens given to Tom Nook must be unique bugs or fish. Providing Tom Nook with the same fish or bug will not trigger this event.

Give Five Fish Or Bugs To Tom Nook
Once you’ve got into your first full day on the island, Tom Nook will ask you to go and see him at the Residents’ Services tent, where he’ll offer to run you through the DIY workshop. It’s then that you’ll get the recipes for a flimsy net and flimsy fishing rod. Once you’ve crafted them, he’ll tell you that he’d “love to see anything you catch. I’m quite curious about the local fauna.” Now, this isn’t just a throwaway comment, so make sure to bring him five fish or bugs as soon as you can.;
After you’ve done this, he’ll get a call from a friend, who just happens to be Blathers, who has curated the Animal Crossing museums since the original games. Now he’s looking to open a museum on your island.;

How To Get The Vaulting Pole In Animal Crossing
So you have picked out your island based on the aerial shot from the selection given when you started out.
Each deserted island has a number of rivers running through which are a source for fish and wildlife as well as adding interest to the landscape.
You make your selection, eagerly ship off to lands unknown and quickly realise that you are restricted. This is because some areas of your new island paradise are inaccessible in the early stages of the game. The rivers are impassable without a bridge and cliffs are unreachable without stairs or ramps to get up.;
This not only limits your ability to explore your island but hampers your capability to collect all the flora and fauna that inhabit your island.
Have no fear, good things come to those who wait and you will soon be hopping over those rivers like the intrepid explorer you are.
Our article today will give you a step by step guide on how to get a vaulting pole, what supplies are needed to craft it and finally how to use it!

How To Get The Vaulting Pole To Cross Rivers
In order to cross the rivers on your deserted island and explore the other side, youll need to get your hands on the important Vaulting Pole tool item.
Unlocking the Vaulting Pole requires you to first make it to at least your second full day on the island with Blatherss Tent fully built and open ready to accept donations. In order to build Blatherss Tent, you first need to donate five bugs or fish to Tom Nook at Resident service and place the location for Blatherss Tent.
After placing the location for Blatherss Tent, the construction will be completed the next morning. When the day begins, head over inside of his tent to speak with Blathers and he will discuss with you his interest in finding fossils on the island.
In order to get to the fossils on the island though, youll need to be able to cross the river to find the dig spots, which of course requires the Vaulting Pole tool! Therefore Blathers will transfer both the Vaulting Pole crafting recipe and the Flimsy Shovel crafting recipe to your NookPhone.
How to Craft the Vaulting Pole
Youll need to gather five Softwood crafting materials to craft the Vaulting Pole tool item. Those can be gathered by hitting a tree with either the Flimsy Axe or Stone Axe, but only once per day. If you dont find enough Softwood from one tree, try another as the type of wood that drops is random.
Unlocking The Vaulting Pole
The vaulting pole is the easiest and quickest of the two to unlock. It’s a simple to craft DIY recipe that you’ll get by talking to Blathers after he comes to your island. The vaulting pole requires;five softwood to craft and does not break.
Blathers will arrive after Tom Nook has received some bugs or fish from you,;five in total. He asks for these shortly after the initial DIY quest. You also need to ensure you’ve set Blather’s pitch in a suitable location.

Catch 5 Unique Bugs Or Fish And Give Them To Tom Nook
Before this ,you will need to have your Nook phone and you will also need to have completed Toms DIY workshop, where you will learn how to make a flimsy fishing rod and flimsy net.;
Although the workshop is fun, all these things Tom Nook invites you to do have an ulterior motive. Not in a sinister sense, but in terms of laying out the groundwork for other tasks that will need to be completed to advance in the game.
So learning the DIY recipe for the flimsy fishing rod and net help you on your way to catching the fauna which Tom expresses interest in.
Once you have your Nook phone and fishing rod, you will have the correct set of tools to head out and catch those critters!
They can be all fish, all bugs or a combination of the two. The only stipulation is they must all be different.;
You will then need to speak to Tom Nook in the resident services tentwhere a new option will appear: I found a creature.
You can hand Tom your findings individually or wait until you have all 5 before heading over to the resident services tent. Given the limited pocket space that you have initially, you may wish to do this one at a time.;
Once you have delivered your 5 items, Tom will then ask if he can send them to his old friend.
This is where you first find out about Blathers, the feathered museum curator who is keen to open up a museum on your island.;
When you accept his offer, Tom will get a call from Blathers, who will need somewhere to stay for his visit.
How To Build Bridges
Youll have to wait even longer for bridges, sadly. Outside of the first one, you arent able to place any more bridges until Tom Nooks tent has been upgraded into the Resident Services building. Nook will call you and say a bridge needs to be built. This is essentially the tutorial. He gives you a recipe for a Bridge Construction Kit which requires: 4 Log Stakes, 4 Clay, and 4 Stone.
After youve completed this, head inside and talk to Nook about the infrastructure of the island. Hell give you some different options for bridges though they do not come cheap.

Animal Crossing Pole Vault Recipe
Like any tool in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need the right DIY Recipe for the pole vault. Unfortunately, it’s not one you can buy from Resident Services or get as a reward from Tom Nook.
On your first day , head up to Resident Services to get a run-down on DIY from Tom Nook. He’ll have you make a Flimsy Fishing Rod as a tutorial, and then he leaves you with a parting thought: he’s very interested in the local fauna.
That’s a big passive-aggressive hint to go out and get him some fauna. Use your new fishing pole, or craft a bug net whichever you prefer and bring Tom Nook five different bugs or fish.
This is how you’ll unlock the Museum. Nook rings up his old friend Blathers and tells him there’s a surprising variety of wildlife to find. This attracts everyone’s favorite owl to the island but not right away.
Nook gives you another tent to set up for Blathers. This will eventually blossom into the Museum after you give Blathers a set number of donations, but like any newcomer moving onto the island, the tent site stays up for the rest of the day. The actual move-in won’t happen until the next day dawns.
Once it does, head over to Blathers’ tent. He tells you the real reason he wanted to speak with you and why he’s so excited about the island: those fossils across the river. After he realizes you can’t leap across the river of your own accord, Blathers gifts you the vaulting pole DIY Recipe and the shovel recipe as well.

How To Cross A River Using A Vaulting Pole In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
When you first arrive on your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll find your exploration cut short by the fact that you’re unable to cross any of the rivers. If you want to fully explore your island, you’ll need to craft a Vaulting Pole.
You can do this as soon as the second day, by donating five different insect or fish species to Tom Nook within resident services.
Once Blathers has arrived in his makeshift museum – this will happen the next day – pay a visit and he will give you the DIY recipe for the Vaulting Pole.
To craft it, you need:
- 5x Softwood
To use the Vaulting Pole, select it from your inventory and then press A at the edge of the river, springing you across.
Remember it will only work on a ‘standard’ river width – so if the pole doesn’t work, it’s possible you are at a wider section, so head further along to give it a go.
