The short answer is yes, and the long answer is sometimes. It doesnt matter to the game whether you are the one traveling or hosting, if you want to invite a friend or go to a friends island who lives far away. Either way, you are going to need to purchase a Nintendo Online subscription.

That said, when you go into the Airport and select the option to allow visitors on your island, there are two options: Online play, which is what we discussed above, and local play.

What Can You Do On A Nook Miles Mystery Island Tour

The randomly generated islands you visit are there to serve as sources of materials for you to collect and return to your island with. These include the following:

    • Harvest trees and bamboo – collect wood with your axe
    • Collect foreign fruit – remember that you can dig up entire trees and put them in your pocket to transplant back to your island
    • Collect flowers – using your shovel you’ll be able to pocket pansies to brighten up your island
    • Harvest materials from rocks – using the patented Animal Crossing rock trick technique from previous games you’ll be able to harvest 8 materials from every rock on the island
    • Meet new villagers and invite them to live your island – every island you visit will have another visitor you can talk to and invite back to your place
    • Catch bugs – using your net you can swipe and collect exotic beasties and, if you’re willing to put some time and effort effort in, even engage in some entomological ecosystem engineering and harvest tarantulas to sell for big bucks
    • Go fishing – same as at home really, although perhaps with a chance at something more exotic
    • Chill the beans right down – what better way than escape the hassle of being Resident Representative than getting away from it all on your own deserted isla… Hang on, wasn’t that the point of Nook Inc.’s Getaway Package in the first place? That wily raccoon, we knew he was a bad’un.

    Helpful Tips For Island Hopping

    • Before you head to the Island you should clear out your pockets of things you do not need. If you have clothes or furniture in your pockets then it is a good idea to leave them behind – this will give you more room to collect things later on.
    • If you do not know what you’re going to the Island for, it is a good idea to craft low-rank tools to take with you. This is because if you break them or want to leave them behind, you haven’t lost a lot
    • The Islands do not provide Ladders, Vault Poles or Slingshots!
    • If you do know what you’re going to the Island for – such as going solely to collect Fish – then purchasing or crafting a high-rank tool is fine.
    • Take a wetsuit if you own one – this will make accessing parts of the Mystery Island much easier.

What Should I Do Before Opening My Island In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you have any items lying around on your island that you don’t want visitors to take, make sure you pick them up and store them in your inventory. You could place a fence around these items.

The items which are affected are:

    • Items that have been dropped and not placed. This includes fossils and DYI recipes.
    • All type of fruits , including the fruit still hanging on trees.
    • Bells
    • Star Fragments

Make sure you shake your Hardwood or Cedar Tree so you can get the two daily items that are hidden on them – your visitors could get them before you!

    Sharing Your Own Island

Visiting Other Islands – Animal Crossing: New Horizons Let’s Play Part 3 (Nintendo Switch)

If you choose Id like to share a dream, youll be shown some warning information about this feature. Specifically, youre reminded that if you share your Dream Address, certain things about your island will be made public, and people you dont know may be able to visit your island . If you want to continue, select I Understand.

If you agree to the terms, Luna will upload the current version of your island to the Dream Library for other players to visit, and youll receive your Dream Address that you can share with other players. By default, your Dream Address will also be added to your in-game passport and map, but you can ask Luna to remove it from these areas if you wish.

Keep in mind that any changes you make to your island after you upload it to the Dream Library wont be synced over automatically. If you want to update the version of your island that players can visit in dreams, you can talk to Luna to do so once per day .

Finally, visitors to your island will be able to save any design that you have on your Custom Designs portal.

Where Is Luna In Animal Crossing New Horizons

You can find Luna in Animal Crossing New Horizons by going to sleep on a bed in your house.

Lying on your bed in Animal Crossing New Horizons, just select the Yeah, I want to sleep option to find Luna.

It will bring you into a dream state surrounded by purple clouds. Not only that, but you will also be greeted by a blond tapir in a white dress.

Its important to note that you must have a Nintendo Switch online membership to find and be greeted by Luna in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How To Visit Luna In A Dream

The main novelty of this update of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the possibility of visiting Luna, a special Tapir who takes us in our dreams to visit the islands of other players. To access this new functionality it is enough to get into any bed in our house. In this way, Lunas visit will automatically open and we will be able to select if we simply want to sleep or want to dream about the island of some other player.

If after sleeping, Luna still does not appear, you should check that you are playing the correct version of the video game . You can do it through the title screen, which indicates the version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Therefore, virtually all players can access this functionality. However, it is worth noting two important details that we leave below:

    • An active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online is required
    • This functionality will not be accessible while the server is under maintenance.

How To Visit Friend Islands Through Dreams

To visit other islands created by your friends, have your villager go to sleep on your bed. When Luna approaches you and asks what you want to do in this dream state, select the option that reads I want to dream. Then, select Yes, I am ready! to connect to the internet.

You can Search by Dream Address and input a Dream Address that you find or that a friend gives you. Alternatively, you can select Surprise me, and Luna will send you to a randomly selected island.

Your bed will then appear in the middle of the town plaza of this dream island. Your inventory will be empty, but youll retrieve your items once you wake up. You will be free to explore the island, although you cannot make physical changes to the island. Instead, you can explore the space and talk to villagers. If you see any inappropriate content, press the â button to send a report and wake up your villager.

To return to the world of the waking, lie down back on the bed and select I want to wake up!

The airport is available after the 2nd day. For step 5 and onward, we recommend saving up Miles and buying the Pretty Good Tools Recipe, as it will improve the durability of your items, letting you gather materials more efficiently.
