4 Hidden Things You Can Do In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Single-player, multiplayer

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a 2020 life simulation game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch it is the fifth main game in the Animal Crossing series. In New Horizons, the player controls a character who moves to a deserted island after purchasing a getaway package from Tom Nook, playing the game in a nonlinear fashion and developing the island as they choose. They can gather and craft items, customize the island, and form it into a community of anthropomorphic animals.

According to the developers, New Horizons began development in 2012. The game director, Aya Kyogoku, had the philosophy of retaining old content from previous games to keep fans happy while also making the game simple enough to appeal to newcomers. With art and graphics, they used the concept of “trigger of play” and the “imagination gap”, where the former kept the gameplay simplistic and easy to pick up while the latter kept the art style simple for the player to imagine the rest.

Make Crafts Alongside A Villager

One of the best activities in New Horizons is making crafts. With recipe cards found around the island or given by Mr. Nook, players can make exciting DIY things. To make these crafts, players need a workbench. The recipe for this can be obtained from Mr. Nook himself. A DIY workbench is also available in the Town Hall for use.

Users can also enjoy crafting with their favorite villagers. When a villager is making something on their work table, players can also use the same crafting space and make their own stuff.

What Is Animal Crossing: New Horizons

With the help of resident retailer and business raccoon, Tom Nook, you start small and work your way up to a bigger house with more additions. To do this, you’ll need to earn Bells doing odd jobs for your neighbors, collecting and selling all manner of creatures, or just getting rid of your junk.

To top things off, you don’t actually need to be in the game for things to happen. That’s right the town goes about its daily business without you. There’s no shortage of things to do in these casual, yet fun games.

Nintendo Says Tom Nook Is A Good Guy Theyre Right And Not For The Reasons You Think

Just a regular day out here on my island with a friend ...

For years, Tom Nook has been dogged by his unsavory reputation. Nook, an anthropomorphic tanuki who lords over every Animal Crossing save file, has been labeled a villain, a nefarious bandit and a real estate robber baron, among many other more colorful titles. I despise capitalists, and Tom Nook is Animal Crossings foremost capitalist, declared a recent article in Vice Games.

In earlier titles, Nook exhibited a cruel streak. He was a busybody. And over time, his real qualities have been embellished with a range of secondary observations, ranging from the earnest to the comically over-the-top.

Theres the edgelord school of humor wherein an analogy is made between the game and some sort of ugly real life phenomenon. For example, Tom Nook abuses children, some might claim, by installing the twins Timmy and Tommy Nook to labor in his general store, Nooks Cranny. These go into the pay no mind category.

Then there are the good faith critiques of capital and the landowning class: Why are players forced to run errands for Nook, and also effectively pay rent to him? Whats the point of capitalism even benevolent capitalism in a desert island utopia, where food and water is abundant and money literally grows on trees? Still others dont differentiate, having rolled up the whole slew of critiques, from the absurd to the well-meaning, into a single package in service of the meme: Tom Nook is evil, Tom Nook is cruel.

Invite New Villagers To Your Island

There are hundreds of potential villagers — all with their own personalities and unique designs — who can move to your island, but your little swatch of land can only accommodate 9 at a time. As you build on the barren island of the beginning of the game, hand-picking your cohabitants adds richness to your personal utopia.

To attract the first three townspeople, just buy Nook Miles Tickets to other islands from the Nook Stop machine in Resident Services. The first three islands you visit will feature a character excited to join your community. But once you’ve welcomed the first three newbies, Tom Nook will ask you to build a campsite, where tourists will stay for one day at a time. Invite campers, and they’ll also move to your island.

As a bonus, you can buy collectible Amiibo figurines or cards of your favorite Nintendo characters online, and they allow you to invite unique villagers with special attributes to your island. As those who have used Amiibo in other Nintendo games know, they’re not essential for the core game, but they add small elements to further personalize your experience, and sometimes even cross over characters between Nintendo properties.

Finally, befriend those villagers by talking to them every day, giving them gifts and sending them cards in the mail . Not only do you earn Nook Miles by befriending villagers, but your new friends will also begin to give you more gifts, like clothes and medicine.

Happy Home Paradise: What Can Players Do

This expansion puts your villager to work designing ideal homes for Animal Crossing NPCs. They give you the details, and then you make it happen. It’s like if House Hunters and Million Dollar Decorators had a baby, and they were catering to anthropomorphic animals!

Players will meet with each client to get their specific wants and needs, and that’s where the fun begins. Select different islands, seasons, times of day, and build your client’s ideal home. You’ll have control of both the interior and exterior of the home. Furniture and other building materials will be readily available, and you can set to work.

You will be able to use the property like modeling clay to create whatever you desire. Even the lighting and ambient noise can be adjusted. It’s a blank canvas for you to make your client happy.

Talking To Mr Nook Can Unlock New Features

Most Animal Crossing players know of Tom Nooks reputation. His love for money knows no bounds, and its perfectly understandable that some players would like to avoid him as much as possible. Plus, his house loans are too expensive, although, players can prolong their dues.

But talking to the owner of Nook Inc. can have various benefits, such as unlocking new features and discovering new recipes — which is rather important for island development. Mr. Nook may seem greedy, but he is not too bad.

What To Do On Day 3

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – How to Add More Villagers to Your Town

Good news: Blathers museum is being built! Bad news: You cant actually donate anything while its under construction, so keep your new discoveries in your house for the time being. Dont worry: The museum will open tomorrow.

Big Goal 1 Finish the Store

If you managed to collect the required resources for the Store, itll be open today. If youre still trying to collect 30 Iron Nuggets, youll undoubtedly hit that number after hitting all of your islands rocks on Day 3. Make sure you deliver the requested haul to Nooks tent, and the Store will be built on the next day.

And dont forget: If youre still hungry for resources, you can buy a Nook Ticket for 2,000 Nook Miles, granting you an island full of goodies.

Big Goal 2 Harvest even more resources

Once you turn in your 30 Iron Nuggets, you can be a little more freewheeling with that resource, which means you can make a few of the higher-end tools you have in your recipe book. This will speed up the process of collecting resources. You can never have enough resources, and youre going to need a boatload of them starting tomorrow.

Always Buy Every New Thing In The Shop

Every day, the store on your island will have new products in stock. And while you may not always want everything, you should still buy anything that you havent seen before. Doing this will fill out the catalog in Resident Services. This will enable you to reorder any of the things you previously purchased whenever you want.

So buy the new goods and then give them away to other villagers or immediately sell them back to Timmy and Tommy. And then, when you need a specific item to complete a certain look in your house or town, you might already have access to it.

Lead By Example: Designing On The Island

Your design prowess isn’t limited to client homes. You can help Lottie spruce up the workspace and help design facilities. Clean up the vacant building to make Paradise Planning the place to be by adding schools, restaurants, and more. As they say, if you build it, they will come with upgraded facilities, NPCs will come by and use the facilities you’ve fixed up.

You Can Has Pet Turtles :

Not only can you catch a snapping turtle , but you can actually KEEP THEM AS PETS!! Well, OK, only kinda. I’m not sure the turtles know or even like being viewed as your “pet.” But if you display them in your house or around your village, they just stand there with no water tank, hanging out, being cutie little lugs.

Hot tip: Press A near your snapping turtle to get some, uh, love I guess!

Host A Fishing Or Bug

You can make some really cool designs in animal crossing ...

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons has its own built-in fishing and bug-catching tournaments that occur every so often, you and your friends can host your own tournaments whenever you want. Simply have everyone head towards one person’s island, set a timer, and see who outperforms the competition.

The best part about these player-made tournaments is that the rules can be changed to encourage different experiences. For example, one version of competition could be designed to encourage people to catch a ton of bugs or fish, while another could be focused around the quality and rarity of each catch. Players could even implement “street rules” by allowing people to sabotage each other by scaring away the critters they’re looking to snag.

Ultimately, the sky is the limit here. And since catching and selling bugs and fish is one of the best ways to make money in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, everyone will walk away with a nice fat wallet once the tournament ends.

Harvest Islands For Resources

Finally, you may find yourself hurting for resources like wood and iron early on. If youre in that position, use some of your Nook Miles to buy an airplane ticket and travel to a special island. These procedurally generated islands are yours to strip mine. And if you can ignore the unfortunate politics of that, its a great way to get what you need to keep crafting items or to complete quests.

What To Do In Your First Days

After youre set up with the first introductory day, by going to sleep after the welcome party, the island is your oyster. Tom Nook will have more specific activities for you to do that will teach you how to slowly improve your island. You may have a simple place now, but it can eventually grow into a bustling little village. Keep checking in with Tom Nook after you complete tasks to progress. You can also check in with him if youre unsure of what to do.

Be sure to talk to the other villagers to improve your friendship with them. You cant actively track your progress with them, but once you get the option to give them presents after a few days, youll know youre on the right track. Theyll often give you things in return too!

There are several D.I.Y. Crafts to be made using Star Fragments. Most of these recipes come from Celeste on her rare visits, so make sure you’re checking around your island often after sunset. If you find Celeste and talk to her, she will likely gift you with a recipe. If you show her one of the special Zodiac Fragments, she will also tell you a story about the Zodiac in question. There are a few recipes obtained in other ways, in particular seasonal event items, and more may be discovered in the future.

Who Is The Ghost In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

11 Things You Should Do Everyday In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If youve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons of an evening, you may well have run into Wisp, a benign and easily-startled spirit wandering around your deserted island in the dark. Don’t Put Off Paying Your Debts

Tom Nook, the wealthy business-raccoon funding your adventure and constantly pressuring you to spend more money than you have, puts you in what feels like deep debt on your first day. It takes a little time to build up Nook Miles — an achievement-based currency — early in the game, but work to earn them quickly and pay off that first debt ASAP. The faster you pay back your first loan, the faster Tom will build you a home and, most crucially, give you the extra storage you need for everything you’re about to start collecting.

Kk Slider Takes Secret Song Requests

If you’re not collecting K.K. Slider songs through the kiosk in Resident Services, then you are missing out on some of the greatest bops of the 21st century.

Here’s the real tip, though: Those official EPs don’t even come close to the list of secret songs you can get by requesting special songs when he plays concerts every Saturday night outside Resident Services.

Fans are still figuring out all the secret menu songs you can unlock. But we want to believe the below example is true , and that K.K. can break out into Wonderwall upon request. FREE BIRD! DO FREE BIRD NEXT!

How Animal Crossing: New Horizons Turnips Storage Works

There’s a bit of a weird issue with Animal Crossing: New Horizons turnips storage, in that you can’t, in fact, really store them anywhere. You’re not able to whack them in your home storage whatsoever, but you can just drop them on the floor in your home – or around your home / rest of the island.

We assume that this is to prevent you from forgetting the turnips you bought just days previously, but doesn’t become a bit of an inconvenience – especially if you don’t want to waste a precious pocket slot for turnips.

And if you’re wondering whether you can plant turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, that’s also a negative. You cheeky things you.

It’s worth noting that turnips place around your island will be seen by Isabelle – and therefore the island rating system – as trash, so you will be unable to achieve / maintain a 5-star rating with turnips lying around.

What To Do On Day 2

[HIRING] OC artwork in Animal Crossing Style : HungryArtists

When you wake up, youll see that your tent has been upgraded to a house. Congrats! Youre well on your way. Head to Tom Nook, who will congratulate you and give you a new mortgage for 98,000 Bells for the next house upgrade. Time to get to work.

Big Goal 1 Donate 15 fish/bugs to Blathers

If you played a lot on Day 1, you were probably able to find 15 different species of bugs and fish . If so, bring them over to Blathers the Owl. Hell give you a recipe for the Flimsy Shovel and the Vaulting Pole, the latter of which you can use to cross over rivers in your town.

Once youve donated 15 species, you wont be able to donate any more, so hold any new species you find after that .

You should also have a letter from Mom, which includes three pieces of fruit that are not native to your town. Use your newly acquired shovel to dig three holes and plant the special fruit. Note that trees will only grow if there is one free space in every direction around it, so make sure the spots you pick are clear.

Speaking of the Flimsy Shovel, keep an eye out for cracked spots in the ground. Dig at these spots to find Fossil Pieces, which will eventually find a home with Blathers after his Museum opens.

Big Goal 2 Collect resources again!

Repeat the resource collection process from Day 1, hitting all of the rocks and trees on your island. You can make the timing of the rock mining a little easier by digging two holes in a diagonal formation like this:
