What Do You Do With Turnips In Animal Crossing

Turnip Storing And Rotting

How to make a TURNIP Garden! – Animal Crossing New Horizons

Turnips will rot at 6 AM on the following Sunday. If they rot, you will be unable to sell them to Re-Tail, and instead Reese will charge you to dispose of turnips. It’s in your best interest to have a garbage can ready in your town as a public works project or one in your home as furniture before diving into the stalk market.

Time Travelling

Any instance of time travel will instantly rot your turnips, if you have turnips stored, you should not change the in-game time at all.

Whats New With The Stalk Market

In all Animal Crossing entries, players can dabble in buying and selling turnips to make a profit. In previous games, Joan was the basket-bearing boar eager to share her turnips for a price. However, the role has now been relegated to her granddaughter, Daisy Mae.

You can find sweet Daisy Mae wandering your island from 5am to noon each Sunday, selling her wares in bundles of 10 at unlimited amounts, if you have the money. The prices can vary from 90 Bells to 110 Bells per turnip .

As always, players have from Monday until the following Sunday to unload their stock at which time, the turnips will rot, along with your investment. Of course, time travelling will also rot your lot, so dont go committing any time crimes after buying.

The turnips can be sold Monday-Saturday at the islands shop for anywhere from 15 to 800 Bells . There will be two different prices per day, with the change occurring at noon. Prices will fluctuate throughout the week, often along different patterns so watch carefully.

Of course, seasoned veterans will be well aware that turnips take up space and cannot be kept in storage. If youre stuck on ideas for where to keep your turnips until the market turns, weve got you covered in our Pockets Inventory Upgrade Guide .

How To Find Buy & Sell Turnips In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Timmy and Tommy’s Turnip prices change twice a day in Animal Crossing, once in the morning and once after 12 p.m. Unlike Daisy Mae’s prices, Timmy and Tommy can offer as little as 15 Bells or as many as 650 Bells for the Turnips. Similar to;the Stock Market, holding for too long may result in a missed opportunity for the highest prices that week, and selling too early could result in missed out profits. Of course, the major difference is that the Turnips will go bad after a week of holding on to them.

If Timmy and Tommy seem to have low buying prices;every time they change, it’s best to speak with a friend to see what their prices are. Even though;Animal Crossing;is connected to the Internet, everyone’s Turnip prices are different. Players can fly to a friend’s Island if they have high Turnip prices and sell them there. As a last resort, players can sell the Turnips for as close to the purchasing price as possible to prevent any loss of Bells.

An Alternative Option: Try Discord

Reddit is by far my top choice for reducing the stress of turnip selling. If you want to make some extra cash, but you dont want to spend hours queuing for islands every week, Reddit should give you a much simpler experience.

You might even find a few friendly people who will allow you to leave the island and come back with more turnips. This is rare, but its a possibility.

If you have more than one inventory full of turnips, youre better off using Discord.

Check out some of the Discord servers that support turnip selling here.

Unlike Reddit channels and the Turnip Exchange, where you only see a handful of islands, youll find literally hundreds of people posting their turnip prices on Discord. Usually, you can DM a few people, get your codes, and sell anywhere up to 5 lots of turnips within a couple of hours.

Bonus tip: If you find someone on Saturday whos willing to accept multiple trips, and you dont have that many turnips, consider checking the boards again. Some people from overseas might already have Daisy Mae on their islands. That means you can buy more turnips, then go back to your selling island for a bigger bonus.

When Should You Sell Your Turnips

Animal Crossing: 10 Things Most Players Don

Turnips can be bought for a fixed price every Sunday from Daisy Mae. Every day except Sunday, Nook’s Cranny will offer a certain price for Turnips. Think of them like stocks, in that the value changes each day. The key here is to check each day and try to sell the Turnips for more than you’ve paid. Generally, prices will vary from 35 Bells to as much as 200 Bells per Turnip, so check each day to make sure you’re not missing out.

How To Buy And When To Sell Turnips In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

While there is no hard or fast rule for Turnips in Animal Crossing New Horizons, we’d say any time you can buy them for under 100 Bells each is a solid investment. There are no guarantees if you’re extremely unlucky, but Turnip prices usually hit at least 100 Bells at some point in the week, meaning if you get Turnips for less than that a profit is likely so long as you pay attention and check the price regularly.

Check the price of Turnips with Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny daily. The prices changes twice every day: once when the shop opens at 8a.m., and again at midday. An important note is that Turnips must be sold before closing time on Saturday: you can’t put Turnips into the drop-off box. They can only be sold when the store is actively open.

Ultimately, only you can decide when the right time to cash in your Turnips is, but we do have one key piece of advice: don’t let your Turnips go rotten. If you reach the following Sunday and haven’t sold them, they’re literally completely worthless – they’re not worth a penny. Selling on Saturday afternoon for a poor price and turning a loss is better than losing everything – so make sure you sell.

Everything you must know about how to keep turnips from rotting in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Prior to the launch of Animal Crossing New Horizons, a fan-favourite had emerged in newcomer Daisy Mae. This island visitor sells turnips which you can then sell onto the Nooks for a handsome fee of bells, but there is the issue of them quickly rotting which will result in their sell-on value being far less.

Theres lots to do and buy in Animal Crossing New Horizons from Leif who sells shrubs to Redd the miscreant fox who sells both legitimate and counterfeit art. However, while Redd is a nasty bugger and Leif is the victim of fake glitches spread about the internet, Daisy Mae is purely an innocent soul who fans would die for.

She does nothing but sell turnips for you to then sell onto the Nooks, but she cant do anything about them rotting. Instead thats purely up to you.

How To Get And Catch Ants On Your Island

To catch ants in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to follow this step-by-step guide:

  • Buy turnips from Daisy Mae
  • Set aside 10 turnips
  • Leave them for one week to rot
  • Catch ants that appear on the spoiled turnips
  • This sounds simple, but there are a few extra things to be aware of. Ants will appear on spoiled turnips as a long colony, taking bits of turnip away into an ant hill. If you miss with your net, they will scatter and disappear, but dont worry! Just leave the spoiled turnip on the ground and return later. Ants will eventually re-appear. Rain may prevent them from showing up, so if its raining on your island, just have patience and come back when the weather clears up.

Sell Turnips When The Price Is High

The basic rule of making a profit is to buy low & sell high. Check how much it’s selling at Nook’s Cranny and only sell when it’s significantly higher than your buying price.

Spoiled Turnips Attract Ants And Flies

If youve made a mistake and now have spoiled turnips they do have one use, attracting ants and flies. Both bugs will only appear around garbage, which includes rotten turnips.

In good news, they do appear year-round at any time of day, so drop those turnips on the ground and keep an eye out for the spawn. If you dont see them it can help to catch other bugs on the island to force a respawn.

Neither is worth much but they are needed to complete both the Critterpedia and the museum collection.

How to buy and sell Turnips

As we mentioned above, Turnips power the Animal Crossing version of the stock market, called the stalk market . Like the stock market, the price of Turnips fluctuates greatly day-to-day – one day they might be up, one day they might be down massively.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Turnip merchant Daisy Mae will visit your island once a week after you’ve built Nook’s Cranny. She visits on Sundays, but unlike most other daily visitors she only hangs around until 12p.m. so be sure to check in with her in the morning.

Once you’ve located Daisy Mae , she’ll give you the opportunity to buy Turnips. Daisy Mae’s Turnip prices are different every week, with around 90 Bells being the minimum you can expect to pay per Turnip, and around 110 Bells being the usual maximum. Turnips are individually priced, but sold in bundles of ten ten being the smallest functional unit of Turnips in the game. So, for example, if this week’s Turnip price is 90 Bells, you’ll actually need to fork out a minimum of 900 Bells to buy any at all; and will need to sell them a minimum of ten at a time as well.

And of course, there’s a further caveat: Turnips spoil in seven days, so you’ll have to sell them at Nook’s Cranny and make your profit before the following Sunday. In practice, this means that the following Saturday at 10pm is your last chance to sell them, as the Nooklings have a firm policy not to buy Turnips on Sundays. If you miss the window, the Turnips spoil, and are monetarily worthless.

Earning large amounts of Bells is important in all of the Animal Crossing games, and with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, that hasn’t changed in the slightest. One of the most effective ways to make Bells is to participate in the “stalk market,” a turnip-based recreation of the real-world stock market. However, you need to have a strategy prepared before going in. Otherwise, you may end up losing money instead of making more of it. Here’s our guide to getting the most out of the stalk market in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

What To Do With Spoiled Turnips

If you forgot about your turnips, they will spoil after a week has passed, but it’s not a total loss! There’s one good use for spoiled turnips: attracting ants and flies. Ants only appear on rotten turnips, so they can be hard to catch–especially if you’re careful with your stalk investments.

Both ants and flies appear year-round and at any time of day, so all you have to do is drop some rotten turnips and walk around until ants appear. Neither ants nor flies sell for a lot, but you’ll need them to complete your Critterpedia and museum. Once you’ve caught the ant and/or fly, you can toss the spoiled turnips in any garbage bin furniture item.

    How To Find Daisy Mae

The first step to begin playing the Stalk Market is finding Daisy Mae. Sheâll only start visiting your village once youâve constructed Nookâs Cranny, which requires you to find 30 Iron Nuggets, along with other supplies.

Youâll need to put in a decent amount of work before you can try to profit from Daisy Maeâs weekly visit, but once Nookâs Cranny is functioning you can get into the routine.

    • An Island with a turnip price of 90 Bells from Daisy Mae

This method requires Time Travelling, but is an efficient way of earning bells through Turnip Trading.

One player time travels to a day when Turnip prices are high, while the other time travels to Sunday when Turnip prices are low.

Both players will alternate visiting each others islands to maximize the profits from selling Turnips!

The other islands clock doesnt affect your Turnips

Even if the in-game clock is different on the Switch of the island you visit, it wont cause your Turnips to rot.

The state of your Turnips is based on your own islands clock, so even if you or the other player have Time Traveled before, you can travel to any players island without fear.
