Game Mechanics And Concepts
The developers made sure to make the game not only welcoming new players but to also retain core concepts from the previous games to keep older fans of the series happy. A crafting system was implemented to allow the player to keep the player from running out of things to do after the in-game stores close. She mentioned how the D.I.Y. crafting system would keep players in theme with the game by interacting and using the natural environment to their advantage. Kyogoku took note of players who began playing Animal Crossing games via mobile apps, such as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, by implementing the Nook Miles feature which would show the player what kinds of activities and concepts they can achieve by rewarding them to do so. The Nook Miles system also rewards the player for doing common tasks and collecting materials that would sell for cheap to keep the player from only tediously searching out expensive materials. Furniture and clothing accessibility and customization were emphasized for multiplayer so players could show pride in their islands.
Will Animal Crossing: New Horizons Get A Sequel
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for a year, and players running low of things to do on their islands may wonder about the game’s future.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been giving players an island escape for almost a year, filling each month with new events and adding to the list of tasks that can be done while gamers design intricate towns filled with flowers, trees, and seasonal decorations. However, as Animal Crossing;comes up on its anniversary and lapses back into seasonal events and holidays it already had events for, players may be wondering what will come next for the popular game, and if they might expect a new;entry in;the series anytime soon.
While there are plenty of collections for players to fill out in Animal Crossing, and plenty of debts that need to paid to Tom Nook;for housing upgrades, many players have already completed these game objectives. Because of this, players are left redesigning their islands, or relying on upcoming;new;Animal Crossing;event content to give them new challenges. This can be frustrating for people who enjoy the game, but simply have nothing left to do.

What Is Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a simulation game that gives you mayoral or town representative powers over an island community full of animals. That means you can make decisions for your animal compatriots, such as what your town theme song will be, what your town flag will look like, and where your new animal neighbors will put their houses once they move in. If youre doing your job correctly, there will be a seemingly endless stream of lovable animals moving to your island to make it more colorful and diverse.
As in-game time passes, the seasons will change and new faces will come and go. Youll make new animal friends, buy and upgrade a house, create some awesome outfits, collect bugs, fossils, and furniture, go fishing, and make a virtual life in this world. Think The Sims, but decidedly more streamlined and with a heavier focus on being absolutely adorable. Plus, unlike in real life, your animal neighbors personalities or schedules wont drive you up the wall.
What you will be doing, however, is deciding how to live your best life. New Horizons sets you up as a new resident on an island, where you start out life in a simple tent and work your way up to a custom home as you enjoy an island getaway package. Its a lot like living real life, but much happier and far more fun. So, on second thought, not that much like real life, at least at this particular moment in human history.

What’s next for Nintendo’s hottest franchise?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the undisputed video-game champion of 2020.
Released on March 20, the charming life simulator was a relaxing escape for those stuck at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, giving friends a way to stay connected during extraordinarily difficult times. To date, New Horizonshas sold more than 26 million units worldwide, making it the second best-selling Switch title ever, behind Itâs likely to surpass even that record by the end of the year.
New Horizons has been critical to Nintendo’s 2020 success. While first-party titles have been in short supply throughout the year, the company sold a staggering 735,000 Switch units in October 2020, just weeks ahead of the global launches of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. A once-niche series, Animal Crossing has become an S-tier behemoth alongside Mario and Zelda.
How can the company keep that momentum going in 2021 and beyond? Inverse spoke with an Animal Crossing content creator and Nintendo expert to find out.

Adding The Roost To Animal Crossing
The first thing that an update like this would bring is, naturally, Brewster and the Roost. Brewster has been part of Animal Crossing since Wild World, and New Horizons is the first game he’s absent in. Either this is a setup for a big update , or it’s a glaring and inexplicable omission. If they are to get added, both will be part of the game.
It could be added one of a couple ways: as a part of the museum or as a wandering villager who wants to set up shop on an island.
Please bring back Brewster and The Roost as its own building in the future.
Since the Roost is a coffee shop, it naturally lends itself to meetings and other things. One speculative addition that could come with the Roost is old villagers who stop by to catch up with players or other villagers. Naturally the shop has to have customers, so it makes sense to add some older villagers who aren’t a part of New Horizons as the customer base.

Zipper T. Bunny, who just finished hosting the annual Bunny Day event on Easter Sunday,;is but one of many talking animals you’ll find in this wildly popular life simulation game;series.
Players assume the role of a person whose neighbors are assorted animals. There’s no real structure to the game, which allows individual players to choose their own experience by engaging in activities that range from catching bugs and fishing to planting things and interacting with the animals.;
As gaming website Kotaku summed up the series’ appeal in 2011, “Animal Crossing;has never been much of a traditional video game. There aren’t enemies to fight or many directed quests to go on. It’s more of a play space and a realm of collecting and self-expression.”
That nontraditional approach has clearly resonated with gamers. The nonlinear series, which makes;extensive use of the;video game console’s clock and calendar to simulate real time as trees grow and flowers bloom, has sold more than 30 million units worldwide.

The People Who Spent The Year In Animal Crossing
Snow topped trees, ice sculptures and the sound of rushing waterfalls. Susana Liang built out her Animal Crossing island complete with a Christmas dinner, various shops, a wedding reception, an igloo campsite, a picnic, a mini version of the Greek island Santorini, elaborate walkways and a cozy home with plenty of Christmas trees.
Winter makes everything covered in snow and its all white, so it makes it feel a bit more ethereal and dreamy. Its one of my favorite seasons in the game, said Liang, who works in health science in New York and has spent over 2,300 hours playing Nintendos Animal Crossing: New Horizons since a few weeks after the games release. Its always winter on her island. Every time winter is about to end, she time travels back to the beginning of January to stay in the season.
The game debuted on March 20, 2020 and has sold over 31 million units, coming in second place behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the best-selling title on the Nintendo Switch. The global pandemic has also endured for a year, and Liang is one of many players who have spent the equivalent of a month or more playing the game and transforming their islands from grass-covered and rural to unique vacations away from real-world problems.
