Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a 2020 life simulation game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch it is the fifth main game in the Animal Crossing series. In New Horizons, the player controls a character who moves to a deserted island after purchasing a getaway package from Tom Nook, playing the game in a nonlinear fashion and developing the island as they choose. They can gather and craft items, customize the island, and form it into a community of anthropomorphic animals.
According to the developers, New Horizons began development in 2012. The game director, Aya Kyogoku, had the philosophy of retaining old content from previous games to keep fans happy while also making the game simple enough to appeal to newcomers. With art and graphics, they used the concept of “trigger of play” and the “imagination gap”, where the former kept the gameplay simplistic and easy to pick up while the latter kept the art style simple for the player to imagine the rest.
Make A Plan And Enact It
Make a map of your island, whether thats on paper or using a digital tool like Happy Island Designer. There, you can recreate your current island setup and your dream island setup, and use those two maps to plan out exactly how to move forward.
Creating the steps from there will be easy , based on your needs. Though there is a large portion of the community renovating their entire islands, I think its more likely that people will be clearing space for farms. For some, that might mean moving a home or two. For others, that could be cutting down trees and pulling up weeds and flowers.
Once an area is clear, you could just go ahead and leave the parcel of land empty until the new update rolls around in November. But, if youre a planner like me, youll probably want to start getting the layout right. You can use custom designs on the ground to create garden rows, like you would for pumpkins, and maybe a fence and some signs to decorate the area. If thats the case, youll just have to tweak some things before jumping right into your farm on Nov. 5. There are reasons to wait, though: The new log fence will be perfect for gating off gardens.
This is what I mean:
Plots are all set up and ready to go!
If youre flattening your island to the ground, godspeed. Im suffering in the dullness of pulling up my field of yellow flowers.
What About The New Villagers
Nintendo hasnt clarified how New Horizons players can access the new villagers, more than a dozen of which were shown during the Animal Crossing Direct. Specifically, Nintendo shared a photo of new amiibo cards to be released on Nov. 5 showing new characters like Shino the deer, Zen the anteater, and Sasha the bunny. Eighteen new characters were shown including Niko and Wardell on these amiibo cards, but Nintendo hasnt said whether theyll be available to randomly move onto your island, or if theyre only addable via amiibo cards.
Weve reached out to Nintendo for clarification.

Where Can I Find Redds Treasure Cutter
Congratulations, the crafty art dealer has now made it to your island, but where can you find him?
Here is his shop: From now on Redd will go to your island once a week by ship, which also serves as an art shop. You can find the ship in the far north on your map on a secret beach that you can only reach with your ladder .
Here is Redd: The first time, however, Redd will not be on his ship. If you click on the entrance, you read the message that you are not allowed to enter without permission. You need this permission from the art dealer himself, of course.
The solution? You have to find the fox first â he is walking around somewhere on the beaches or directly in front of the service center on your island. At the time of writing, no concrete pattern has emerged as to how exactly you will find it.
Should you have picked up Redd on your island, speak to him and initially decline his offer, the painting for almost 500,000 bells. Then heâll make you a very cheap price of only 4,980 bells. Buy the painting and then bring it to Eugene. This is coincidental but will always be a real work of art. After your donation, the owl will start building the art gallery.
Redd, however, will continue to be on your island the whole day, but you canât do anything with him anymore. A few days later he will return and then you can visit him on his boat cutter.
Order Overnight Nook Miles Items
Whether or not you’re prepared to buy the storage shed, it’s worth paying a visit to the Nook Stop, as there are numerous new items for purchase with Nook Miles. You can buy a notebook with new reactions, recipes for new types of fences, and an assortment of items to decorate your island. The physical items need to be delivered by mail, which takes a day, so be sure to place an order for the ones you want most. Remember that there’s a cap of five items per day that you can order here, so prioritize your wishlist and order accordingly.
Happy Home Paradise: Building Your Paradise Made Easy
If building customized homes for clients wasn’t enough, then listen to this perk quick construction. Yes, you can quickly build and move things around with ease, unlike before! The building tools are made easy, both inside and out. Players can place furniture, change perspectives in the building tool, and more. Plus, you can use the building mode outside the home. This makes building paths, adding trees, and setting up your home a breeze!
What’s more, is that you can take these skills with you off the clock! More on that later.
From there, you can build and expand homes in new ways. You can add divider walls, pillars, and paint singular sections of walls for stylish accents. This can help change the structure of these homes. You can also alter the lighting and add soundscapes to really make each home unique. Finally, you can polish your furniture to give it that little extra shine.
Of course, clients aren’t just one and done. You can revisit clients and update their living space with new furniture. You can also recommend that they share a vacation home!
How Nintendo Can Make Animal Crossing Better
Quality of life changes are typically greatly appreciated, but if Nintendo plans to replicate New Horizons’ runaway success, the company needs to add a fresh twist to the Animal Crossing experience. Since this hypothetical sequel would be running on Nintendo’s next console many years from now, it would be fair to expect a far larger world for players to customize and live in. Using some extra horsepower from their future console, the developers could focus on letting their players customize a large state or county instead of just a tiny remote island. In this speculative sequel to New Horizons, players may be able to build many towns in a massive world one-by-one, and connect them with various roads and highways dotted with gas stations and restaurants. Each of these towns could have different shops and attractions to help distinguish them from another and give players a reason to build an entire adorable state.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 20 Datamine Reveals Over 9k New Items
Animal Crossing: New Horizons dataminers have discovered that the newly-released 2.0 game update introduces over 9,000 items to the catalog.
The new November 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizonshas brought with it a host of exciting features and content, and dataminers have confirmed over 9,000 new items have also been introduced. Animal Crossing fans have been asking for new gameplay and items for a long time now, and it seems the 2.0 update is living up to players’ expectations.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was one of the most popular games of 2020, but a lack of core gameplay made many turn away from the game. Players criticized the release for lacking features, characters, and events seen in other AC games, and while New Horizons offers deeper customization than any previous entry in the series, there was little for players to do once their islands were fully decorated using the in-game tools and items. The new Animal Crossing update has solved many of these fan concerns, reintroducing previously-missing Animal Crossing NPCs, adding new features such as cooking, and introducing the shopping Plaza.

What Is Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a simulation game that gives you mayoral or town representative powers over an island community full of animals. That means you can make decisions for your animal compatriots, such as what your town theme song will be, what your town flag will look like, and where your new animal neighbors will put their houses once they move in. If youre doing your job correctly, there will be a seemingly endless stream of lovable animals moving to your island to make it more colorful and diverse.
As in-game time passes, the seasons will change and new faces will come and go. Youll make new animal friends, buy and upgrade a house, create some awesome outfits, collect bugs, fossils, and furniture, go fishing, and make a virtual life in this world. Think The Sims, but decidedly more streamlined and with a heavier focus on being absolutely adorable. Plus, unlike in real life, your animal neighbors personalities or schedules wont drive you up the wall.
What you will be doing, however, is deciding how to live your best life. New Horizons sets you up as a new resident on an island, where you start out life in a simple tent and work your way up to a custom home as you enjoy an island getaway package. Its a lot like living real life, but much happier and far more fun. So, on second thought, not that much like real life, at least at this particular moment in human history.

When Was The Animal Crossing Direct In Uk Time
Here in the UK, the Animal Crossing Direct started at 3pm BST on Friday 15th October 2021. This live stream taught us everything about the update thats coming in November.
In the USA, the times to be aware of were 7am PT or 10am ET, depending on which time zone youre in. And if youre wondering how long this Animal Crossing Direct was, weve been told that its about 20 minutes long.
How Do You Enact An Ordinance
Putting an ordinance into effect is a fairly simple process, although there are some rules around them that you should be aware of. To get started, talk to Isabelle at the Resident Services building and select the “review island features” dialogue option. From there, you can choose “discuss ordinances” and then select the one you want to enact. It’s as simple as that.
However, enacting an ordinance will cost you a fee of 20,000 bells, and it’ll take a day for it to go into effect. You can also only have one active at a time, and once you start the process, you can’t change your mind. Presumably, once the ordinance goes into effect, you’ll then be able to shift to another if you so wish we’re working to verify that and will report back once we know more.

So You Can Visitredd On Harveys Plaza Every Day
With Update 2.0 there is now a new location on Harveyâs Island that is a marketplace for all the wandering traders. So Redd comes by with his caravan and sells you a work of art every day.
Changing offer: The works of art on offer are exactly the same that you can still get on his cutter. However, he offers you two pieces a day, which only change when youâve bought something. The purchased work of art is then exchanged for another the next day.
So it can happen that you are forced to purchase counterfeit works of art. As usual, these will be sent to your mailbox the next day.
Get Redd This Is How You Unlock The Painting Dealer
Redd does not visit your island right away, you have to follow the following steps:
- start the game and talk to Eugen in the museum: He tells you that youâve done a wonderful job so far and that a new area for art is to be added to the museum
- after the conversation, you have to let 24 hours pass
- The next day, after starting the game, Melinda will tell you that there is a suspicious person on the island: Redd, of course
For all new players: If youâve only recently started the game, Eugen wonât ask you for works of art until after the museum has been built. Before that, you cannot meet Redd on your island.

Why The Nintendo Switch Game Is So Popular During Coronavirus
The first game in the series was simply called Animal Crossing, released in 2001 in Japan. A North American version followed in 2002.
The series was created by Katsuya Eguchi, a Japanese game designer whose previous credits include work on Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Star Fox 2, Wave Race 64 and Yoshi’s Story.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the fifth game in the series, following Animal Crossing: Wild World, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Three Animal Crossing spin-off games have also been released Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for Nintendo 3DS, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for Wii U, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for mobile devices.
Mega Ran says he’d played the last few games a bit, but never had the time to get the most out of Animal Crossing until he started getting hooked on New Horizons.
“Now, I have nothing but time, so it’s the perfect game for that,” he says. “It rewards your patience and gives you something to look forward to every time you turn it on, like that no other game does. It’s not a game you can play for 12 hours and beat, like a Mario.”

Quality Of Life Updates
Most importantly, Froggy chair is back. Were all eager to see the beloved chair back in Animal Crossing.
Ordinances can be set to make your island work better for you. There are options to slow the rate at which weeds grow and others that make your characters either get up early or stay up late.
Storage has also been contentious with New Horizons players. We just want to have more stuff! Home storage before the free update allows for 2,400 stored items. Now, players can expand up to 5,000 items via three upgrades.
Pro Camera App
New Horizons Pro Camera App automatically aligns the camera at eye level, and adds a tripod so that you can get into the picture yourself.
More exterior home options
Home shapes can be adjusted, as well as the styles available, too. In the Animal Crossing Direct, Nintendo showed log, clay, and Japanese-style variations.
New and custom fencing
Last year, there were some New Horizons scandals around some players hacking illegal fences into the game like the one seen around Harvs island. Well, Harvs fence is illegal no more: Now its a fencing option in the game, along with nine other fence types. Park fencing! Block fencing! Corrugated iron fencing! Bamboo fencing!
Some fencing can be customized now, also, with different color options available.
New hairstyles and reactions
New Horizons is getting 11 new hairstyles, including Harriets new looks. Additionally, there are 11 new reactions, including stretching.
Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival
AC: Amiibo Festival looks pretty enough. But other than that, it fails in almost every respect
The boards are bland, the characters feel soulless compared to other titles, and the mini-games are just boring.
I thought a game that lets me play as Tom Nook, K.K., and Isabelle had no way of failing. And I was proven wrong.
An interview with director Aya Kyogoku sheds some light as to why this game even happened.
The development team wanted to pressure Nintendo into making Animal Crossing amiibo. So they whipped something up that included their favorite characters and had amiibo functionality, with little to no regard as to whether it was fun.
If you love AC then sure, give it a whirl. But if youre tight on gaming time these days, I say keep reading.
What Do We Know About The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update
Nintendo has confirmed that a beloved area called The Roost will be coming to the game in the November 2021 update. It will be in the museum, to the left of the art gallery.
Fans of the earlier entries in the Animal Crossing franchise will know that The Roost is a coffee shop overseen by a bird barista named Brewster, who is also joining New Horizons in this update!
Though we knew this was coming, that wasnt all that was announced. As a summary of some of the highlights , read on:
- A bunch of returning characters, including Tortimer, Katrina and Harriet are back.
- The ability to place permanent ladders is now possible.
- Users can now place storage and ATMs outside no more wasting time going in and out of buildings.
- The amount of bridges and inclines you can have has increased from eight to 10.
- You can now uncover gyroids through digging. They are also customisable.
- You can also cook, grow vegetables and collect recipes.
- New furniture and customisable options.
That really wasnt all. Perhaps the biggest update was the arrival of a paid DLC, called Happy Home Paradise, which will cost $24.99
This significant update means users can go to work and set about creating paradise homes for animal residents.
