Spend Those Nook Miles And Visit Other Islands

25 Things To Do Every Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons | My Daily Routine

Dont be afraid of running out of Nook Miles. They start off as an achievement system, which gives the impression that theyre limited. Tom Nook will eventually upgrade your Nook Miles plan to Nook Miles+, which adds a series of five rotating, repeatable achievements that can steadily give you Nook Miles as you play. You wont run out of Nook Miles , and you can easily grind for more using the upgrade.

This is useful in the early game when you want to collect iron nuggets to upgrade the Resident Services tent, and if you want more than just two other residents on your island. When Dodo Airlines opens, you can spend 2,000 Nook Miles for a Nook Miles Ticket. This ticket takes you to a new, smaller deserted island randomly generated in the game. The island has fresh rocks you can hit with your shovel to collect iron nuggets. Each rock can only be hit three times a day, so youre limited on your own island with how many nuggets you can possibly get in a day. Going to new islands will get those nuggets pouring in.

The other deserted islands also have different fruits you can collect, which help diversify your own islands flora. You can get more wood, sticks, and flowers on the island, too. You can even meet new characters that you can invite to your island. Youll discover a new animal friend if you find a campfire on the deserted island. Talking to them twice lets you invite them to your own island, growing the community.

Mine Your Rocks And Check For The Glowing Spot

Every day youll want to go around your island and mine the rocks that are strewn about. These rocks will give you iron, clay, stone, and even sometimes gold. All are very valuable resources to you on your island. Once a day, one of the rocks on your island will even have a bunch of gold hidden inside of it. Using either your shovel or an axe you can hit the rock until it has dropped all of its lovely money.

Also once a day youll find a strange glowing spot on the ground. If you dig this spot, youll be awarded 1,000 bells. If you plant the money back in the ground , a money tree will eventually grown in its spot with triple the amount that you planted. You can have quite a few money trees growing if you find the glowing spot every day.

Max Out Your Happy Home Academy Rank

Half the fun of Animal Crossing is decking out your virtual house with all sorts of cool gear. The Happy Home Academy will then rank your design skills, sending out trophies and plaques for your achievements. Depending on the type of furniture used and the orientation in which it’s arranged, you’ll earn a different amount of points. The best you can hope for is an ‘S’ Ranking, but you can also try to nab the coveted Gold HHA Trophy by putting together an abode that scores above 150,000 points. It’s not an easy task but will certainly give you something to do well past the credits.

Remember To Change Camera Settings

You cant freely manipulate the camera in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Well, actually, you can, but only inside buildings. What can you do, when you cant see something important because it is hidden behind some objects? Use the right analog stick.

With the right analog stick, you can change the camera setting. Two camera settings can be used for playing. The third one is used for sky observation and it remains active until you move the character. If you cant see something because it is hidden behind, for example, a tree, then change the camera setting. It should help.

Sometimes, when the camera is closest to the ground, the third camera view is especially useful. In that case, many objects in front of the protagonist might disappear, allowing you to see, for example, what is hidden in the shadow of a larger building.

Check In With Your Villagers

What To Do Every Day In Animal Crossing New Horizons ...

Talking to your villagers each day can be a good way to earn Nook Miles. Even if you already spoke with them during the day, its a good idea to check in with them at night, too.

Villagers often have different dialogue during the night, and it can be interesting to see what they are up to. Some night-owl villagers may be out and about walking around the island, commenting on how its late.

Other villagers might be inside their homes. You can tell they are awake if their lights are on. If they are awake, go inside and visit them. They might be crafting something, and they will share the DIY recipe with you.

Not Planning Ahead For Terraforming

Newcomers to New Horizons today will likely know that the game eventually offers an Island Designer feature. This lets them change almost any aspect of their islands overall topography. In turn, players can design their dream island, brick by brick. Any players whos done terraforming will know this is an exhausting process and players who dont plan ahead will definitely have to allot extra time than necessary.

To avoid this setback, players might want to have an ideal image of their island before playing the game. Thankfully, free apps like the Happy Island Designer exist to help players layout their island in advance. That way, players can build their buildings and position their Villager houses where they want that still accommodates their post-terraforming vision.

Totally Unnecessary Things We All Do In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Its important to admit that after hundreds of hours of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, we all have some very specific new behaviours. Perhaps your IRL morning now has a 20 minute play session before getting down to the reality of the day, or maybe your in-game villager has to talk to every island resident by lunch time. But it turns out that were all doing some very specific and, by game standards, entirely unnecessary things.

Thats not to say theyre bad. In fact, they enrich our Animal Crossing lives and are the little things that, while leaving no discernible difference on our islands, give us that extra little burst of serotonin. The devil is in the details, after all, and hes already made plenty of work for our previously idle thumbs. So from unnecessary snorkel wear to invisible sock knowledge, here are 11 silly things we all do in Animal Crossing with absolutely zero practical purposes.

Look Out For Visitors

You, the raccoons, and your villagers arent the only ones that are going to show up on your island. On occasion youll come across a few visitors that have flown over to sell things, invite you to visit their island or more. Youll run into Flint the Lizard who is super into bugs, Sahara the Camel who sells carpet and wallpaper or Gulliver the Gull who often washes up on the beach and needs your help.

Its worth taking a round trip every morning to see if anyone has come to visit. You never know what cool cat might show up.

Other Twists On The New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 14 Things To Do Daily

While the game has a very familiar look, there are so many new details that are exciting about New Horizons. Who knows what could have been added? A lot, apparently.

In addition to crafting, the NookPhone, and multiplayer, some new gameplay elements are being introduced. From the trailer and gameplay demos, we can tell theres going to be customization options galore. Items no longer have to be placed inside the home you can set up a nice bonfire and hammock right outside your house.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons also features northern and southern hemispheres, so no matter where you are, your island experiences similar seasons and weather. While seasons are nothing new to Animal Crossing, players can do new activities and things as the weather changes. Whats more exciting about this update is the variety it brings: weeds, plants, and growth changes. There are hidden Easter eggs in spring and mushrooms in fall. Plus, players need to be more aware of when night falls since theres no telling what they will see under cover of darkness, including some dangerous bugs or scary ghosts.

Take Care Of Your Flowers

There are a lot of flowers far off on the cliffs of your island at the start, but don’t forget to plant the seeds Timmy gives you! If you water flowers with a watering can, they can grow even more flowers. Take that a step further by making sure different colored flowers are next to each other, and eventually, a new color can grow! For instance, a red flower and a yellow flower next to each other can eventually grow an orange flower.

This is only the beginning of your adventure. With each season youll get to craft new things, find new fish and bugs, and even celebrate special in-game events. The weather and terrain changes too! Nintendo already announced plans for free DLC updates that include events, so be sure to keep your game up to date. You can read more about updates on the Updates and Patch Notes page. But, until then, your island is primed for growth and youll have plenty of new buildings and villagers with time.

Plant A Bell Tree To Make More Money

Yeeun Kim/Hypebae

Another way to make more money is to plant some. Whenever you come across a glowing spot on the ground and dig up Bells, plant a certain amount of cash of your choice in the same hole. A tree will grow in a few days, offering three money bags that you can shake off. These trees only produce Bells once, so after claiming your cash they will go back to being regular trees.

Rock Out With Your Spade Out

Smashing rocks with your spade is an easy way to potentially make some bells. Before you start smashing away, be sure to set up at least one hole behind you to stop the recoil. If you find a rock that drops money, keep hitting it until it stops dropping money. Theres also a chance to find valuable gems in these rocks. Its possible to make an easy 16,100 in free bells every day.

After Your First Week

The big event on the horizon is the opening of the new Resident Services building. Once that opens, youll unlock the ability to build bridges and ramps throughout your island for a hefty Bell charge.

After that, there are more events and buildings still to come, so be sure to keep checking back each day to see what the island has in store for you. Remember: Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a marathon, not a sprint, so even just 20 minutes per day should be plenty to get the basics done. Of course, if you want to go over that, were certainly not stopping you.

    • Goals for the Day:
    • Claim Nook Miles to pay off your Itemized Bill
    • Upgrade your Tent to a House

By the second day, be sure to check your mailbox for a letter from Mom! Shell send you a random gift that can be anything from a random piece of furniture, clothing, Bells, or even rare fruit that doesnt grow on your island!

Tom Nook will also come out to announce that the airport will also be open for business, allowing you to travel to a friends island, or open your gates to allow people to visit you. This will begin the routine of daily announcements each day you first start up the game, starting at 5AM each day

If youve given at least 5 creatures to Tom Nook, youll now find Blathers operating his museum out of a small tent the next day. He wont be able to fully furnish a museum until you get him 15 more specimens, but hell also accept fossils into the mix.

Even if youre in no rush to explore a giant museum, its still worth talking to Blathers, as hell give you tools to find fossils that will also let you explore a lot more of the island, namely: recipes for a Flimsy Shovel and a Vaulting Pole.

Now you can use the Vaulting Pole to cross rivers and explore other parts of the low elevation on the island, which include many spots where fossils are hiding in the earth.

This is the case for the new reactions and hairstyle upgrades respectively, as both require all previous upgrades to have been purchased before becoming available.

    Building Your Museum And Collection

If youve unlocked the Critterpedia app, the first thing you might notice is the great number of blank spots for fish and bugs. There are tons of common critters to catch, as well as rare ones, but they will come with time. You will quite literally need time, too. Some critters are only available in certain seasons and, even more specifically, at certain times. Check out our guide for Bugs and for Fish to see all the ones weve found so far along with their sale price.

    Bug Catching Tips:

    • You can approach bugs slowly by holding down A and moving toward your target.
    • Regardless of how slow you move, some bugs will notice you. When they do, stand still and move again only after they look away!
    • Some bugs will only appear on very specific places, like on flowers, on rocks by the ocean or on a tree stump.
    • Bugs may not sell for much, but you will eventually meet a visitor who will buy them at a premium.

    Fishing Tips:

As far as fossils go, every crack in the ground you see is a fossil. Be sure to dig it up and always get it assessed before even thinking about selling it! Blathers can only do one at a time at first, but thatll change quickly.
