Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is coming out in Europe next month, just receiving some more details yesterday, and here at Gamereactor we’ve been playing a bit already, with four clips of gameplay to show you.

First we meet Isabelle and learn how to place our first piece of furniture, then we get a visit from our new neighbour. Finally, we customise the look of our Camper and go out for a lovely fishing session – all stuff that you’d expect from an Animal Crossing title.

We also take a look at the minigame implemented for you to kill the time while the second download of the app arrives on your phone, as you need this second step for the game to be fully playable . You know what we mean if you’ve played with Google Chrome’s dinosaur.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp arrives in November as a free-to-play offering, and below you can see the four clips. Have these gameplay videos given you hope?

‘animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’ Releases Worldwide On Ios And Android This Week

    Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

If you’ve been waiting to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and don’t live in Australia, you’re about to get your chance to do so. Nintendo’s next major mobile game is officially coming out on Wednesday, Oct. 22, giving us all a chance to chill out, earn some bells and become yet another cog in Tom Nook’s ever-churning capitalist nightmare of labor and accumulated debt. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be free-to-play on iOS and Android when it comes out.

It’s good timing, at least for the United States. Holidays involve long hours whiling away the time with family via Netflix, puzzles, or whatever your family’s group entertainment of choice is. Not only is it a perfect time for some relaxed mobile gaming, it’s a perfect time for some inter-generational viral marketing. Animal Crossing, like many Nintendo properties, appeals to a near-unlimited age range, and it’s easy to imagine passing this little title around and maybe getting some younger cousins or curious aunts and uncles on board.

I’m bullish on this title overall, and I imagine it will spend some valuable time in the sun on those app charts before relaxing into steady profitability. There aren’t any other similar games currently doing very well on mobile, but previous interest suggests that people might get back on board for a game like this, particularly if it comes along with the sort of polish Nintendo is known for. We’ll know more once the game comes out, so stay tuned.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Is Live In Australia Right Now

For some reason, Australians are getting the game a month early on both iOS and Android. It’s not unusual for Australia or New Zealand to get early “soft launches” for apps so developers can test them out, but going out a whole month early is pretty unusual. Oh well, it’s here! And you can even start playing yourself if you don’t mind fibbing a bit to create an Australian account.

Phone A Friend: Call An Islander And New Horizons Multiplayer

Playing with your friends has always been a staple feature of Animal Crossing games, and New Horizons looks no different. At the end of the trailer, there are a total of eight villagers seen together, gathering at some rocks next to the water.

It’s confirmed that up to eight islanders can be living together on the same island. Up to four of them can play together at the same time using two pairs of Joy-Cons.

During each multiplayer session, a leader can be designated for the group. The leader can use the app to bring in additional islanders. The leader has a yellow flag marker shown above their head, so it’s easy to distinguish who is currently leading the group. If you want to switch the leader so they can share in the ‘material’ wealth, you can easily move the flag around from player to player. Plus, each player can emote, which is a fun little detail.

Sort of! You won’t be able to cross over between the two games and platforms , but, if you connect your Nintendo account, you can see which of your friends are playing Pocket Camp. Holidays & Seasonal Activities

Animal Crossing: New Horizons regularly receives updates that correspond with the seasons or holidays from that time of year. So, for instance, when April rolls around, Zipper T Bunny appears on your island for the Bunny Day event and gives you the task of locating special eggs.

Going along with this seasonal tie-in, the characters, stores, and facilities on your island do different things depending on the time of day or time of the year. You need to pay attention to store hours, or you might find that a store has locked up for the night. Additionally, Flick hosts the Bug Off on specific days of the year while C.J. runs a Fishing Tourney four times a year.

With the fall update, leaves change colors on your island, and players meet Jack the pumpkin-headed specter around Halloween. The following month, players get to celebrate the harvest in November by gathering ingredients for Franklin the Turkey Chef on Thanksgiving.

Lastly, the winter update brings a chill to your island, followed by a blanket of snow. . Players meet Jingle, the Black-nosed reindeer, who asks for help distributing Santa’s toys to your villagers. If you help him out, you’ll be rewarded with festive goodies.

Can I Have My Bells Back

The sheer number of items Pocket Camp offered in one month alone was staggering.

Unfortunately, no unique non-seasonal items found their way into the game via updates, outside of rugs. Eventually the mermaid series from New Leaf was released in a summer update, giving fans hope that even if no new furtniture sets outside of the expected holiday items release, at least we’d get the furniture sets from New Leaf back. Where were the Gracie sets, like the Princess and Gorgeous series? Or staples to the franchise, like the Regal and Modern series?

Meanwhile, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp received new items on a seemingly weekly basis. New fortune cookies, gardening events, holiday events, interior design challenges, you name it. In New Horizons, players could count on the standard holidays like Toy Day and Bunny Day, but there wasn’t much to do between holidays besides the off Bug-Off or Fishing Tourney. Except Pocket Camp had Bug-Offs and Fishing Tourneys, too. The sheer number of items Pocket Camp offered in one month alone was staggering.

Nintendo re-released the amiibo cards from the Sanrio crossover collaboration where players could invite Sanrio villagers to their islands in March of 2021. Given that Sanrio furniture and villagers were also available in Pocket Camp, players assumed that new items would be released.

Give More Information On Game Mechanics

A common request from fans regarding quality of life changes has to do with how New Horizons presents information and data to the player. Things like their friendship level with other villagers, when certain special NPCs will show up and the math behind the turnip market would be helpful things for players to know. A lot of that information can be found online, but it’d be far more useful if New Horizons presented that info in-game.

A frequent request is for players to be able to see their current friendship level with their villagers. A lot of this kind of information is kept vague to both simplify the game and keep the gameplay more casual. However, certain players could really get a lot of use out of the curtain being pulled back a bit more when it comes to New Horizons‘s mechanics.

Animal Crossing New Horizons – NEW 2.0 UPDATE REVEALS (New Amiibo & Villagers?!)

I hate to say it, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a furniture problem. What problem? Well, there just… isn’t enough of it. If you asked Animal Crossing fans, “What do you hope to see from Nintendo at E3 2021?”, many would sadly reply, “More furniture and events.”

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, there were 45 different “series” of furniture , with many more smaller “sets” of furniture that don’t necessarily have all the components of a bedroom, but look good together. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I’ve counted at least 26 “series,” although I was being generous and including some that would have been considered “sets” in older games, such as the Diner series. For a game that prides itself on regular content updates, that’s a problem. Meanwhile, Nintendo’s mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, has clothes and furniture sets on top of established ones, with new content releasing regularly. So, how did we get here?

What Do You Do In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Your basic routine in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is pretty much the same as in previous Animal Crossing games: you wander around various natural areas, making friends with anthropomorphic animals and gathering natural goods like fruit and fish. The map is split into multiple themed areas rather than being one big, contiguous village now: you can drive your camper over to Breezy Hollow to shake some apple trees, then head down to the beach to collect sea shells and fish.

Your villager takes on the role of camp manager, which – yes – is basically wilderness mayor. Instead of issuing edicts that help govern how the town works, you’ll decide how to build up your camp to appeal to different animals. The game also codifies and streamlines certain parts of the Animal Crossing experience for instance, you now have set “Friendship Levels” with villagers that you can increase by talking to or doing favors for them.
