Return Of May Day & International Museum Day
The May Day event took place from May 1-7, 2020, and consisted of giving players a plane ticket to visit a new island and enjoy the May Day maze.
International Museum Day was an event that took place for two weeks, running from May 18 to – May 31, 2020.
During this event, players had to collect stamps at various locations in the museum. After doing so, they would be able to speak to Blathers and receive an award. Unlike the May Day event, this event could be repeated every day during the two-week period.
Neither of these events are currently in the game for 2021. Fans can expect that these events or perhaps similar new ones will be added in for May during the April update.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Release Date And 5 Things To Know Before You Play
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Its nearly time. I say nearly, even though the days are incredibly long as we all hunker down and obsessively read the news as we attempt to monitor the spread of the coronavirus. But games offer some respite at the moment, and theres no better time than now to imagine a weird little existence on an idyllic island surrounded by anthropomorphic animals. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to release and it cant come soon enough.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases on March 20, 2020, for the Nintendo Switch. Here are five things to know before you play.
Its great: Seriously, this is the most important thing to know. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an excellent game. I gave it a 10 in my review. Its a strange little life simulator, where you move to a deserted island with two friends and a raccoon with big plans, and then you slowly build the thing up with shops, a museum, stores and more. You spend your days fishing, catching bugs, harvesting fruit and chatting with friends: good days. Its a pleasant little distraction loaded with charm, and its what you need right now.
Save games are wonky: There can only be one island on a given Switch, and that data can only be recovered from the cloud once. Know this is if youre planning to get this as part of a family unit, know that there could be strife surrounding some truly strange save restrictions.

You Can Tell What You Have Or Haven’t Donated To Blathers At The Museum
If, like us, you’re a little obsessed with making the museum as full and beautiful as it can be, you’ll want to keep track of all the bugs and fish you’ve donated to Blathers. Well, there’s an easy way to tell. Go into your Critterpedia app on your Nook Phone and thumb through the entries you’ve got in there. Anything with a little owl icon by its name is something that you’ve donated to Blathers, so you can easily see if there are any you’ve accidentally traded in for Bells rather than take straight to our old feathery pal.

What’s The Story And Setting Of New Horizons
The new adventure kicks off when players move to a sparsely inhabited tropical island after purchasing a vacation package from raccoon business tycoon Tom Nook. Everything we’ve seen from the trailers suggest players will only start with a tent, a NookPhone, and sheer will to thrive.
There will be no shortage of jobs and errands in New Horizon‘s budding island village. Gamers will need to earn Bells, the in-game currency, to buy supplies and tools to slowly transform their humble encampment into a beach-side paradise. But don’t think you’ll get rich quick.
Raking in those sweet, sweet Bells will require newcomers to befriend their neighbors by helping them with errands for payment or a trade. New Horizons aims to give players more control over their environment than ever before.

When Is The New Horizons Release Date
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release on March 20 exclusively for the Switch, Nintendo announced at E3 2019 in June. The game was originally slated to come out last year.
Nintendo’s deputy general manager Yoshiaki Koizumi said the delay was to “ensure the game is the best it can be.” Following that announcement, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser added that the company also wanted to avoid putting its developers under a stressful crunch schedule, which has seen employees elsewhere in the industry working 100-hour weeks to meet a game’s release date.
“For us, one of our key tenets is that we bring smiles to people’s faces, and we talk about that all the time,” said Bowser. “For us, that applies to our own employees. We need to make sure that our employees have good work-life balance.”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Review
Back in 2015, I mentioned that Ive always been a softy for the Animal Crossing series, but I never really elaborated on why. As a kid, going to school was a very lonely experience, as the few friends I had moved schools due to zoning changes. On top of this, I was an easy target for social ostracism given my nerdy tendencies more often than not, I went home pretty dejected.
Naturally, I turned to video games as a way of escapefinding solace in games like Pokémon, Mario Sunshine, and most notably, Animal Crossing. Whereas my days in school were filled with solitude and sadness, Animal Crossing felt like a world I could belong in. One where I was in control one where I could have friends, write them letters and they would write back. Where the time progressed the same as outside and made it feel real. It sounds pretty ridiculous now, but too depressed 12-year old, it was a respite.
Now, as an adult, I mainly play Animal Crossing for the mellow experience it iswhenever I need a break from the intensity of games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Darkest Dungeon, or Monster Hunter World but it will always hold a special place in my heart. That love has carried through from every entry in the seriesyes, even Amiibo Festivaland with every main entry in the franchise, my fondness for Animal Crossing has grown.
You Can Catch The Island Predators
The bugs you can donate to Blathers also includes the range of aggressive critters that now patrol your island. Previously, we only had to worry about wasp nests falling out of trees, which would then send a hive of angry stingers after us. But now we have to worry about bees, tarantulas, and scorpions roaming the island ready to attack us. Wasps will still sting you if you can, making your face quickly resemble a swollen pincushion, but if you’re attacked by a scorpion or spider, you’ll faint and wake up outside your home – said critter still roaming around somewhere waiting to pounce.
But, it is possible to catch them and negate any bad things happening to you. Our advice is 1) run away for a bit to get some distance, 2) whip out your net, and, 3) when you feel confident enough, spin round and bash your net down on the pesky predator. Hopefully, that’ll net you some new creepie crawly to give to Blathers or sell for precious Bells.

Nintendo of Europe
Nintendo states that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct stream will be around 20 minutes long, which certainly implies that its far bigger than just one character and one new shop to visit. Fans are already speculating about what else might appear in the game, with fan favourite features like Gyroids on the list of many peoples wants.
At the Nintendo Direct a couple weeks ago, Nintendo might have focussed on upcoming games like Bayonetta 3 and Splatoon 3, but there was also a little teaser for this update coming to Animal Crossing in November.
Heres hoping that this is an update that answers many of the requests that fans have.

Brewsters Cafe Coming To Animal Crossing: New Horizons This November
At long last The Roost is set to become part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons but the full reveal of the next update wont be until October.
Its impossible to talk about Animal Crossing: New Horizons without pointing out how bizarrely incompetent Nintendo has been about updates for it this year.
Thanks to lockdown the game is one of their biggest hits ever and yet it hasnt had any substantial updates for almost a year now, and even the new one announced during Thursdays Nintendo Direct isnt till November.
No doubt theyve been slowed down by the pandemic, but in a series where a new set of bedroom furniture would be seen as a major update its almost inconceivable that they havent been able to get anything else out until now.
The main reveal for Novembers update wont be detailed until a dedicated Nintendo Direct next month, so we dont really know what else might be added other than The Roost cafe although that does seem to be the focus.
The cafe has appeared in most of the other Animal Crossing games and is usually part of the museum, which seems to be the case here as well.
Its also often the setting for K.K. Sliders musical performances, but hes already got a spot elsewhere in New Horizons, so its not clear what exactly the cafe will be used for, other than buying a coffee and trying to get a conversation out of proprietor Brewster.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 20 Update: Highly Anticipated Features Listed
The Roost update to Animal Crossing is set to be a huge one for multiple reasons. For starters, it’s going to be the most substantial update in quite some time, something many players were begging Nintendo for. Additionally, it’s going to bring back some key parts of the franchise that have been strangely absent. It may also bring in some other features that players might be glossing over due to the fact that Brewster is returning after all these years.
In Wild World And City Folk
A villager who has decided to move will suddenly have their belongings packed in boxes, at which point the player may ask them to stay, or a visiting player may invite the villager to move to their town. Sending a letter with a present attached to a villager who is ‘in boxes’ can sometimes force them to stay.
Specific to Wild World is the ‘latency’ stage villagers who are currently between interests have the possibility of deciding to move.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Will Still Get Regular Updates In 2021
Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has revealed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will continue to receive regular updates in 2021, just like we’ve seen this year.
Speaking to Polygon in a recent interview, Bowser pointed to user-generated content as being a massive factor in Animal Crossing: New Horizons maintaining a core audience since it launched in March 2021. When asked if we can expect to see a pattern of updates next year in 2021 similar to what we’ve seen for the game over 2020 so far, Bowser replies that “we definitely see that continuing.”
It’s welcome news to dedicated New Horizons residents, no doubt. The latest Animal Crossing game has received a slate of updates over 2020, including seasonal updates to introduce Summer, Fall, and Winter to islands around the world, as well as smaller updates that introduced mechanics such as diving, as well as new residents and services.
In all, it’s fair to say that New Horizons has seen some pretty outstanding support from Nintendo over the majority of 2020. For everything you need to know about the next update to hit Nintendo’s smash-hit game, you can check out our complete Animal Crossing: New Horizons Toy Day guide for more.
