How To Farm Even More Iron
Your home island will have only six rocks on it at a time, and one of those will be a Bell Rock that produces no resources. Rocks, like trees, produce a limited number of resources each day. That puts a cap on the amount of Iron Nuggets you can get from rocks on your island each day.
Animal Crossing relies on the time and date of your Nintendo Switch to manage in-game time. If youre impatient, you can skip to the next calendar day by changing the clock on your Switch. This setting is found on your Switch in System Settings> System> Date and Time.
However, you can get even more iron by visiting other deserted islands.
Visit Resident Services and use the Nook Stop to redeem 2,000 Nook Miles for a Nook Miles Ticket.
Take the Nook Miles Ticket to the Airport and redeem it for a trip to another deserted island.
Strike the rock to obtain resources.
The only limit on the number of islands you can visit is the amount of Nook Miles you have available, so this is a great way to rack up Iron Nuggets if you have lots of Nook Miles to spare.

Go On A Trip To The Mysterious Island Or Go Back In Time
If you’ve used up all the rocks for the day and still lack the iron nuggets needed to build that project you want so much, you have a few other options to keep mining materials.
Your first option is the time travel, the controversial technique to circumvent New Horizon’s real-time clock, which will allow you to jump into the future, leaving room to get more rocks from your island.
If the possibility of cheating does not quite seduce you, you can also use Tom Nook’s Mystery Island Tour. Buy a Nook Miles Ticket through the Nook Stop at Resident Services to get 2000 miles. The ticket can be used once you unlock the Nook + Miles on Day 2. Take the ticket to Orville on Dodo Airlines to participate in the Mystery Island Tour.
On each mysterious island you will find a new selection of rocks, making it even easier to collect iron nuggets. If you have no funds, try the infinite bells cheat, although keep in mind that the latest game update patches this cheat. Pick up and sell more, will provide more Nook Miles, and therefore more money to travel.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Recipes Need Iron Nuggets
Players can also make a profit of their iron nuggets. Earning currency is a big part of advancement in Animal Crossing, and according to AnimalCrossing.Fandom, players can sell each iron nugget they find for 375 Bells. However, if players want to make a tidy profit, they should wait until they have found a recipe like the Iron Hanger. The recipe costs x3 iron nuggets, and sells for 2,250 Bells. Players could mass produce these hangers to pay off that basement expansion that Tom Nook enticed them into taking a loan for.
To get as many iron nuggets as possible, Animal Crossing players will want to make sure that they hit the rocks they find as quickly as they can. The faster the rock is smacked with the tool, the more items it will drop. However, rocks can also drop stones and clay, so the number of iron nuggets is never a guarantee for players on the hunt for them. Because collecting iron nuggets can be such a task, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans may want to hold onto these crafting items as they find them, to ensure they always have enough for a new recipe, or to build a sturdy tool for adventuring on their island.

Gathering Iron Nuggets On The Other Islands With Mystery Tours
Once youve exhausted all of the ores on your own island, the next best thing is to use some of those hard-earned Nook Miles tickets to visit the other islands with Mystery Tours. Fortunately, if youre willing to hustle for Nook Miles, youll likely be able to keep yourself in good supply of iron nuggets almost indefinitely but itll cost you .
When youre on the islands, be sure to use all of the same tips we provided above for your own islands rocks, and you cant go wrong with one key difference: you can smash all of the rocks here!
How To Get Iron Nuggets
Getting iron nuggets is simple: hit rocks and the precious unrefined metal will drop. You can hit rocks with an Axe or Shovel, but a shovel is recommended because you already have to use your axe to hit trees and all tools are breakable. This means you want to spread the workload, among your tools as best you can.
There are only a few rocks on your island and during the first few days, and some parts of your island are inaccessible until you get the Vaulting Pole to cross rivers and the Ladder to reach higher areas.

Animal Crossing: Where To Find Iron Nuggets In New Horizons
Iron nuggets have become handy items for players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons because they can be used for multiple purposes. Naturally, players are constantly on the hunt for more and more of these nuggets.
To start with, iron nuggets are not easily available for players. Therefore, it becomes essential to know exactly how to farm nuggets on an Animal Crossing island.
This article dives into the uses and farming locations of iron nuggets in the game.
Why You Need Iron Nuggets In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Iron Nuggets are used in a variety of ways. They are used to strengthen certain tools like an axe and shovel.
The following tools use Iron Nuggets in crafting:
The Shovel is unlocked once you bring Blathersthe museum curatoronto your island after showing Tom Nook five different species of bugs or fish.
The other four tools and their DIY Recipes are unlocked once players purchase the Pretty Good Tools for 3,000 Nook Miles. These tools will give players more time to fish, water their plants, chop wood and catch bugs before they break.
Later on, youll be given the opportunity to make the shop even larger, giving players more items to purchase. Players will be tasked to obtain and donate 30 pieces of softwood, wood, hardwood and iron nuggets.
While the various woods can be found by hitting trees on your island with an axe, iron nuggets are only obtained by striking large rocks, and even then iron nuggets arent guaranteed.
Small stones and clay are also found in these rocks so players will need to constantly try and knock them out when possible.

There are a number of ways through which you can get Iron Nuggets, we have listed them below
Mystery ToursBy hitting the rocks on the Islands when you go on mystery tours you can harvest random materials including Clay, Gold and Iron Nuggets. An axe or shovel is used to hit the rocks.
Although you do have rocks on your island as well, these islands have more rocks in number and thus greater chance of yielding an Iron Nugget. This bounty from hitting the rocks resets every time you visit the island as opposed to your own island where it resets after a day.
One problem with this method of grinding iron nuggets is that each time you hit the rock, you bounce backwards, away from the rock, which makes the process very slow.
To make it more efficient, dig two holes just behind yourself, with yourself between the rock and the two holes. Thatll prevent you from bouncing backward and allow you to shake all loot out of the rock quickly.
Shooting BalloonsThe presents dropped by shooting down balloons have a chance of giving you an Iron Nugget as well, though the balloons are very rare.
You need to shoot them down using a Slingshot to drop the present. Check the present to find a random material item, hopefully, Iron Nugget too.
Get From Residents On Rare Occasions
Once in while, you can get Iron Nuggets by talking to a resident. The chance of receiving them is pretty low, so it’s not recommended as an effective way to gather them.
You’ll receive 5 Iron Nuggets from one of the other residents when you are working on making Nook’s Cranny, to help you reach the needed 30 Iron Nuggets.

Find Iron Nuggets By Hitting Rocks
Believe it or not, all you have to do to find iron nuggets is smack rocks with your shovel. Simply walk up to one of the many boulders on your island and give it a whack with your shovel . This will cause the rock to drop one of several resources including iron nuggets. Although this is the easiest way to get iron nuggets, its far from the best.
Thats because after the first smack, a brief window of time opens in which the rock will continue to drop resources when hit. In order to maximize your resources, youll want to follow the tried-and-true two-hole technique, explained below.
How To Farm Iron Nuggets In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To increase the odds of obtaining Iron Nuggets, players should use the Rock Trick to farm this resource.
The Rock Trick enables players to strike rocks up to eight times before it dries up as opposed to three. To do this, players cant have any staminathe number at the top left corner that goes up when eatingbecause the rocks will break after one strike.
Secondly, players should use their shovel to dig one or two holes behind their character so that they are between the hole and the rock. Once thats done, push the A button with your shovel or axe to strike the rock as many times as resources pop out.
More likely than not, youll get more than two Iron Nuggets at once. It should be noted this can only be done on your own island or a deserted one thats accessed via the Nook Miles Ticket. You cant use shovels on your friends island.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.

Other Ways To Farm Iron Nuggets In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
There will be a shortage of rocks at the beginning of every player’s Animal Crossing journey. Furthermore, iron nuggets are not available for purchase from the Nook Store.
While rocks are the primary source of iron nuggets, they are not the sole source. There are two other ways in which players can farm iron nuggets:
- Hop onto other people’s islands and farm nuggets through the rocks there.
- Talking to the villagers on the island may result in the players receiving nuggets from the villager.
How To Mine Iron Nuggets
Initially, iron nuggets are scarce, as you cant access some parts of the islands containing nugget-bearing rocks. Obtaining nuggets will get easier as you unlock more features, such as a vaulting pole and a ladder. But you should be able to start your supply of nuggets fairly early.
Five of the six rocks on the starting island can be mined for ore. This ore will sometimes be iron nuggets, but it may also be other items, such as stone or clay, or even gold nuggets. All you need to do is hit the rock with a shovel or an ax to mine the ore.
The sixth rock on your island will always drop bells, so if you need iron nuggets, theres no reason to mine that rock.
To mine iron nuggets efficiently, you must not consume any fruit before hitting the rock. If you have eaten the fruit, youll break the rock and wait for it to respawn the next day.
When you hit a rock to mine it, your character will instinctively move backward in recoil. This slows down your mining speed. To increase your mining speed, you can use a simple trick. While standing next to and turning towards a rock, use the shovel to dig two holes behind you. When youre mining the rock, your character wont recoil if there are holes or trees behind them, so including an obstacle means you can mine much faster.
You should mine all of your rocks every day to maximize the number of resources you get.

Where To Find Iron Nuggets
Compared to items like tree branches and different fruits, Iron Nuggets are definitely one of the items that you may have some trouble finding at first. You wont have immediate access to Iron Nuggets either, as you need a specific item to get them.
Before trying to go find Iron Nuggets, you must acquire a shovel in some capacity. This is usually done by using the DIY recipe to create a Flimsy Shovel or even getting the stronger Shovel later as well. If you have the Flimsy Shovel, you might even want to create a few of them, as they will break pretty quickly.
Once you have some sort of shovel in hand to use, start looking for the rocks located around your island. We are not talking about the little stones you can pick up, but the larger rocks that are nearby.
While standing next to a rock, start hitting it with your shovel and different items will appear. This can be a Stone, Clay, Bells if its the money rock, and especially Iron Nuggets. Keep hitting the rock multiple times, though know it will knock you back each time you hit it, so you will have to keep moving back towards it.
The Iron Nuggets are the black object that is dropped by hitting the rock with a shovel, so make sure to pick them all up after the rock stops spawning items. For the purposes of the Timmys shop quest, you will need 30 of them, so keep on finding rocks until you have enough. Youll have to travel to other islands or wait till the next day for enough though.
