When Will Animal Crossing: New Horizons Get Zelda Characters
In every previous Animal Crossing installment, there have been nods to the Legend of Zelda series. Either through items or sneaky dialogue. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, players could even find the Master Sword that came complete with sound effects. However, the Legend of Zelda amiibo currently don’t work for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but this doesn’t necessarily mean a crossover won’t happen eventually.
In March of 2021 Nintendo released a set of Super items for Animal Crossing: New Horizons as part of the 35th anniversary celebration for the Super series. Players can order these Super-themed items from the Nook Shopping app on their in-game phone, and stock up on 1-Up Mushrooms or dress up as Princess Peach. However, another huge Nintendo franchise – The Legend of Zelda – is also celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, even though Nintendo has yet to pay it much mind.
Released on February 21st, 1986, The Legend of Zelda turned 35 this year, and fans were disappointed by Nintendo’s lack of fanfare. So far, the only release in this series set for 2021 is a remake of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which is set for July. Though it is strange that Nintendo didn’t release Legend of Zelda items for the 35th anniversary, it seems only a matter of time before Animal Crossing: New Horizons will see a Legend of Zelda update.
How To Use Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards
If you happen to have a card that features other in-game items, youll get to collect those rewards as well.
You can also use your Amiibo Cards to take fun photos when visiting Harvs Island. This wont add the characters to your campsite but will let you pose with them for photos. To do that, go to Harvs Island and head to the photo room. When youre in edit mode, tap the Amiibo Card of your choice on the right thumbstick, and the character will appear in the frame. Once they do, you can pose them how youd like before snapping pictures.
Once you know how to use Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards, youll have no problem adding in characters as you collect more Amiibos.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Getting New Amiibo Card Series
A fifth series of amiibo cards based on Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be released sometime in the near future! The announcement was made on the game’s official Twitter account, but no additional information has been revealed. The Tweet states that “details on this card pack will also be announced at a later time,” but it’s unclear exactly when that might happen. A Nintendo Direct presentation centered on Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be coming sometime in October, so it’s a safe bet that a reveal could happen during the stream. For now, fans will just have to wait patiently!

Hopefully the presentation will reveal the kind of content that fans have been hoping to see added, and we’ll get some details about what to expect from the next series of amiibo cards.

Theres no word yet on what these new Amiibo cards will feature, but considering that the last batch released – not including the re-release of the Animal Crossing Sanrio cards – was before New Horizons, theres a chance that the new cards will feature characters that were introduced in the latest Animal Crossing game and therefore dont have their own Amiibo card yet.
What characters are these, you ask? Well, fan-favorite Raymond is probably the most noticeably absent from the current Amiibo card lineup as well as other new residents Judy, Dom, Audie, Sherb, Reniegh, Megan, and Cyd. Not forgetting other new NPCs such as Flick, C.J, Daisy-Mae, Orville, and Wilbur. We also expect that these new cards will fly off the shelves just like the Sanrio Amiibo cards did earlier this year.

How To Unlock The Amiibo On Animal Crossing : New Horizons
If the option to use the Amiibo is not present in the Nook Stop Machine means that you have to progress further in the game until the tent has become a building and your island is fully developed. Once the option is unlocked, you just need to bring the asbestos closer to the right Joy-Con as you do in the other games.
Of course characters who can’t become residents won’t work while if you try to invite someone already on the island something funny will happen.
Once you unlock the island of Harv you will be able to access the photo set. Open the screen to organize the scenario activate the asbestos as above and the characters will appear in Photopia. Unlike the Nook Stop Machine in this mode the option for the amiibo will be available immediately and all the figurines or cards will be used to make characters or objects appear.

What Content To Unlock With Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards
New ACNH Sanrio Villagers With the Amiibo cards , you can invite different villagers to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As soon as they are on your island, you have the opportunity to speak to them and convince them to move to your island. They are also used in the Fotopia building on Harveys Island. There you will find the models of the residents for your photographs. It is possible to customize their outfit, set their emotions and decorate the scene to take a photo of them. Adjusting the outfit only works for normal villagers and is not possible for characters like Melinda.
ACNH Sanrio Aniibo Posters While there are some Amiibo Cards such as Welcome amiibo cards and Sanrio collaboration cards which have received an error message when scanning because they are not yet approved for this function in Animal Crossing New Horizons by Nintendo. As compensation, you will receive a poster of the villager in the game, which you can order from Nook.
Do Zelda Amiibo Work In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons gained both Mario and Sanrio collaborations this year, but do players also have access to Legend of Zelda characters?
When the Sanrio amiibo collection was released for Animal Crossing: New Horizons the software update was available to Nintendo Switch owners before the amiibo packet was released in stores. This meant that players who had purchased the previous set of Sanrio amiibos, originally released for Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo, could use these cards to summon Sanrio characters before the official release. So does that mean other amiibo, like ones from Legend of Zelda, could be useful to players now too?
In past Animal Crossing installments, players were able to use amiibo from games like Super Smash Bros. to invite characters that represented those from the amiibo. The invited character would show up in an RV and stay at the player’s campsite. Some characters could then be invited to live on the player’s island, or would have a selection of items that could only be purchased from that particular character. For instance, amiibo figures and cards from games like Splatoon would call in villagers that were modeled after Splatoon characters, like Cece, the peppy squirrel villager that takes the likeness of Callie from the Squidsisters.

Inviting Campsite Visitors To Live On Your Island
So – once you’ve got your favourite villager camping on your island, how do you convince them to move in? This is where your patience will truly be put to the test. With any of the amiibo characters you scan to your campsite, it will take three separate tries – a minimum of three days in the game – to get them to move in.
And that’s not all it takes. On each of those days, you’ll need to follow multiple steps to get to the point of asking them to move in – be prepared to get turned down on the first two tries.
Each day, the process is similar: begin by speaking to the villager a couple of times until you trigger their request to craft them an item. The bonus here is that you’ll get a new recipe each time .
Craft the item they want before the day is through, as they’ll move out the very next day. Give them their item, and then talk to them a few more times – eventually, you’ll get the opportunity to ask them to move in. Again, the first two days you ask them to move, they’ll decline – but they’ll also allude to the fact that they would like to continue visiting.
Finally, on the third day of furniture-making servitude and humble begging, they’ll accept your invitation to move in. We recommend ensuring you purchase a lot from Tom Nook and set it up for their arrival prior to this exchange, to ensure they have a place to move in.
Use The Nookstop Kiosk At Resident Providers
As soon as the brand new villager has moved in, head again to Resident Providers and speak with Tom Nook. Hell let you know that he desires to convey much more villagers to the island. Now, run over to the Nook Cease kiosk and work together with it. Hell let you know which you could now use Animal Crossing amiibo playing cards to ask extra villagers to the island. Simply observe which you could solely have one camper per day.

The Amiibo Figures Vs The Amiibo Cards
There are over 400 Animal Crossing amiibo that you can use if you count the 18 NFC figures and the hundreds of Animal Crossing amiibo cards. Both the figures and the cards feature NFC chips and get scanned the same way using your Nintendo Switch. However, in New Horizons, the amiibo cards are more useful since they allow you to invite new villagers to your island. The amiibo figures are fun to collect, but they can only be used to invite the unique characters they depict to photoshoot sessions while you’re on Harvey’s Island.
If you have your heart set on inviting a specific villager to your island, you might want to scour eBay for a particular Animal Crossing amiibo card as many sellers will let you buy them individually. But be warned. Some of the more popular villagers’ amiibo cards are incredibly pricey.
A full list of Animal Crossing amiibo cards can be found on Animal Crossing’s official website.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Campsite And Amiibo Visitors
The second type of Animal Crossing: New Horizons amiibo functionality comes through the campsite, which youll add to your island by talking to Tom Nook once the Resident Services upgrades from a tent to a building. Once its built, you can invite villagers to visit the campsite using your amiibo and amiibo cards. The same restrictions apply you cant invite characters like Resetti or Digby, and even Isabelle wont turn up at the campsite but you can ask any villager to pay you a visit. This is where amiibo cards come in particularly handy.
Once a character has arrived at your campsite, you can head over and talk to them. They will usually ask you to craft a souvenir for them to take back home with you, but doing this gets you closer to unlocking the option to ask them to move to your island permanently. You will have to invite them to the campsite several times before they consider making the move and you can only invite one character to the campsite per calendar day but its worth pursuing if theres a particular character you want on your island.
This is currently the only way to cherry-pick the characters that move to your island. Otherwise Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers will arrive at random to the campsite, or will lurk on the islands you can visit using Nook Miles Tickets.
Invite all your old favourites to your island by using the Animal Crossing: New Horizons amiibo functionality
